The Not-So-Uber Noc Blade

I'm a little confused why people keep comparing this item to a Noc blade. I think at least 10 different people have done this so far. Killing Yelinak is an incredible feat and requires a strong guild with lots of peeps present. At the level required to get this item, you could easily get in a single group capable of getting a Sword of Pain (19/25 AC+10) or Ebon Mace (19/24). I would have thought people would be comparing it to these, if anything, rather than a Noc blade (18/26), which I consider to be only slightly better than a MoSS.

I agree with the poster that called this a utility item, useful in certain situations. One of those situations would be against PR/DR mobs, obviously.

Oh, and btw, thanks Verant for destroying the Ebon Mace. I've got fellow guild SKs scrambling to sell theirs while they can still get cash for them. 19/25 SoP with +10 AC (no-drop) or 19/24 Ebon Mace. Guess the one saving grace is that the Ebon Mace can be sold at all, making it valuable twink gear.

Actually, from the standpoint of stats, Yes, this kills the Noct Blade. However, remember this: What do you need with you to get a noct blade (time and one halfway decient balanced group), what do you need to get the Soul Defiler (uber guild raid, 45+ people, well balanced groups, and a buttload of luck).

The proc on this is pointless to a SK, as a secondary tank, you do not need this thing going off when fighting, causing you to lose more HP's than you would normally be. Losing HP's means more clerical heals, placing more stress on a necro feeding them mana, making the necro be just a mana battery with a pet for any higher end encounter. All this so you can lifetap maybe one more time. You can have this, I'll stick to my Noct blade, finish my greenmist quest, and own you in a duel/be more useful in a raid or group.

Poison and disease resist are negociable, with disease being slightly more useful than poison. A slightly better damage/delay ratio, the 8 str is really the sole redeeming quality of this weapon. Keep hoping, it has to drop sometime, hope it's for you. Just don't hold your breath. Next fight against Tunare, when you will need all the HP's you can get, my necro will gladly rez your skele corpse for a fee of 1k (average price for a sacrifice to get the essence emerald). Trust me, this sword is not all it's cracked up to be.

While the hp-to=mana conversion of the effect would be a hassle in any normal group (especially if the SK is the group's main tank), it would be a very beautiful thing to have while fearkiting for exp, where most downtime is mana, rather than health, regen.

At any rate, the ratio on this thing is beyond compare for a 1hs. Priceless/Primal Velium Knights' Blades are 20/20...

"...the 8 str is really the sole redeeming quality of this weapon"? Um.

No.

#Zantetsukane, Posted: Oct 05 2002 at 1:06 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This sword is not only is uber but it has the best ratio in the game. This sword is the most damaging 1 handed weapon in the game PERIOD! Ok so let me ask you guy do you actually even know what this effect does for that matter? "So you can do one more life tap maybe" LOL are you joking? Or just jealous that someone else has this blade cause you cant get it? Well I can tell you for a matter of fact that you will not only be doing an ungodly amount of damage with this blades damage/delay BUT you would do INSANE amounts of damage to mobs with the amount of Life Taps that you could produce from having virtually infinate mana. With this effect you wouldnt be low on life at all just the conterary. Think about it what does a life tap do? It really essentially converts your mana into life, what does this effect do, it converts your life into mana HELLO?? I mean think about it your life taps at level 60 take almost twice as much life from the mobs as it takes mana from you so you could do such INSANE damage from your mana being at full that you would GET YOUR LIFE BACK! I mean god damn dont you realize that this blade is created for the Shadowknights abilities. See we have alot of life and not truely so much mana compared to what our spells demand of us thats why you cant honestly kick murder everything because you would run out of mana for Life Taps but with this blade you would have more than enough mana to totally do tons of Damage through the Life Taps and be able to KEEP your life. Thats my Smiley: twocents !
