49 shadowed man kills to see the rapier drop.
I believe it is just rare and random on the loot table, as per the other quest items (about half of which I had seen drop in the previous 48 kills).
Hopefully the random number generator is kind to you if you need the rapier to drop...

I camped in SRo just east of undead temple on hill, and cyclops also poped at 11:pm.Didn't need to kill anything.

do norent items poof when you go linkdead cause i got some serious issues with ld. if they do ill never be able to get it back in time...

I feel your pain,Bro! I had dial-up for years and had constant disconnects while trying to play EQ. Too much graphic info transferring from server to my comp,especially when other players ran by or cast spells. Now I have Road Runner cable and I'm in Heaven :-) I still get a little lag in PoK when it's crowded(the graphics there are higher than most of the older zones),but mostly I run about with ease. I highly recommend you get something similar ASAP. Ask your cable company. My service is only $29.95/month for first year then it goes up to 39.95/month ...still a bargain considering the sheer LACK of lag :-)

the ancient cyclops spawned for me at 2:30am EST in south ro. I was there paying for some faction for temple of solosek ro, no one was in zone, so I just killed him. I was amazed. I didn't think I'd ever get to kill him as everyone camps him like it was the last one or something.

Does this cyclops have high resist? Does he do a ton of damage or normal for a giant?

after camping the AC in OOT for about 3 hours he finally spawned. Went to WC and killed the first group of Shadowed Men and they dropped 2 rapiers. now i'll be omw to Hasten

I was in the south ro at night at 11:oopm someone was killin the ac. the following day i got there at 600pm and at exactly 11;00 pm at night in s ro he spawned again.

This is one of three items you need to get a pair of jboots.
The three items are:
1. A shadowed Rapier from a shadowman warrior
2. The Ancient Ring dropped by the Ancient Cyc in either S Ro or OOT.
3. 3250 gold pieces
If camping the AC is too daunting a task you can always buy a pair of Travellers boots for about 5k

Not that hard to get. Get yourself to the shadowmen camp in WC. Usually someone is fighting them there so you should be able to get a rapier pretty quick. Best chance to loot one is one the warrior sm, since those wield up to two random weapons.
