For all of the times I've seen the items drop in Unrest, this was the first time I've actually looked into it.

It's worth noting that, even if the item can be clicked from anywhere, you absolutely have to meet the race/class/deity.

I'm on FV, the item can be traded. I will probably sell it.

Many of cleric quests for the other races have three symbols in their line. I had looked for a third symbol for us dwarves but never found one... until just now. Was looking through Magelo and stumbled across the Pontiff Symbol.

http://www.magelo.com/components/eq_item_shot.jsp?num=1433

Now I just need to find a way to actually get it...

EDIT: bah, direct linking not allowed. the stats are
AC 9, STA 4, WIS 4, MANA 27

I just got this item today after leasurly questing for it in Unrest while leveling. As soon as I got it, I got together with my friends and we all got wasted. It was great. This item adds to what I originally though of EQ, fun. I love it.

I have to admit i love my ale, i mean Alcohol Tolerance is the first skill to get maxed when i ding, but this is really a crappy reward. My high elf cleric friend, gets the effect Root on his "disciple" quest. Couldn't they think of a useful spell to give us? After all, the initiate symbol has Strength which is awesome.

Nice item for an amazingly easy quest. Just be glad you GET these symbol quests. Human clerics don't even have this line of quests. I'd take the ale over nothing :)

Of course, I'm going to quest a fisherman's companion, so I'll have my ale shortly.

I think what you need to look at here is what stats are affected when you drink the ale. Different drinks affect different stats. I know warriors STR and STA goes up when they drink certain drinks and if their alcohol tolerance is high enough, they don't get tunnel vision or walk all silly anymore so carrying stacks of alcohol is like having buffs in bottles.

Your STR and STA do go up, but your ATK rating PLUMMETS. Drunken fighting is NOT beneficial. The only time when drinking is beneficial is for smithing. Some smiths drink until they can drink no more to achieve the highest possible STR they can get on hard or costly combines. STR moderately affects success rates on smithing.

I have 200 Alcohol Tolerance, and I still get all the bad effects of drunkeness, even the tunnel vision.
Re-Quest for initiate?
# Aug 28 2002 at 8:03 AM Rating: Decent
Has enyone tried to request for the initiate symbol after turning in one for the Disciple symbol? The rt-click strengthen on initiate symbol is a useful buff for my groups in the mid to high teens. Would like to grab the disciple symbol if I can confirm that I will be able to re-quest for the initiate symbol.

Anyone know for certain?
RE: Re-Quest for initiate?
# Aug 30 2002 at 7:57 AM Rating: Excellent
There's no problem with doing the quest multiple times. The only problem is, each symbol is LORE, so you can only have ONE of EACH. I quite frequently use the Disciple as a strength buff for my group whenever there's not a druid, shammy, or the like to give a quality str buff, but I often use the Initiate to keep the alcoholics in the group happy. 80 ale's for <25 mana? Hell ya!!

Go forth and proudly wear and yield the power of Brell Serilis's Symbols!

I posted under the Ale that it adds +1 to Str for each one you drink (the neg affect of drinking are still there).

This was my impression from the one time I tried it, has anyone else notice this?
Multiquest?

Scuse me, but how DO you multiquest?

Almost every single quest in the game can be accomplished by multiquesting, meaning that 2 or more people hand in the different components of the quest and the person who is intended to receive the item hands in his items to the npc last. Whomever hands the last quest component into an npc will get the reward.

Here's are the 2 main cases when an item cannot be multiquested:
1. There is only 1 item to be handed in to the npc to get the reward.
2. The quest requires that some or all of the quest items must be combined in a special container before being handed in to the npc.

A lot ot times though, multiquesting can go wrong and people figure that Verant has suddenly nerfed it. If multiquesting didn't work for you, here's what may have happened:
1. The quest may have required a certain faction to do. When an item is being multiquested, EVERYONE handing in an item must fulfill the faction requirements.
2. Someone handed in the wrong item to the npc. This used to happen rarely, but now that npc's no longer accept items that they don't want, it probably doesn't happen anymore.
3. Sometimes, the person who isn't tntended to get the item may get the item. Most often, this is a result of a lack of communication, meaning that the person who was supposed to get the item handed in his portion too soon. Hoever, there is a chance that someone else either purposely or accidentally interfered with the multiquest.

An example of this is probably the most multiquested item in the game, JBoots. (Basically, this quest requires a no drop ring, a no drop rapier, and some gold. People sell the multiquest on the rare ring and then the person who wants the boots hands in gold and rapier to get the boots.) Sometimes though, an individual may purposely or acidentally interfere with the quest. (I'm not really worried about telling people how to mess with multiquesting because it's very commonly known and the person who interfers can recieve no benefit from it.) For example, person A who just happens to have the rapier after may decide to hand it and the gold to the npc. Hours later, someone selling the mutliquest will hand in the ring, thus accidentally completing the quest started earlier. This happens very rarely though.

Therefore, if the npc is very easy to kill, has a very fast respawn time, and doesn't have any faction, you might want to kill it to make sure you get a "fresh" version for the multiquest. Otherwise, the best time to do the quest is after the servers come back up. If neither of those things are practical, then there's still an incredibly huge chance that the multiquest will work perfectly, it's just something to keep in mind.

Almost every single quest in the game can be accomplished by multiquesting? Uh, no. Quite a few of the epic quests require you to combine a bunch of no drop stuff in a container, forming another no drop container for the turn in. Other epic things can't be MQed because you turn in one no drop thing to get another no drop thing. Lots of things can be MQed, but lots of things cannot.
RE: Multiquest?
# Mar 20 2002 at 4:48 PM Rating: Decent
When a quest calls for two or more items to be given to an npc, one player gives some of them to the npc and then the other player gives the rest to the npc. Then the second player gets the reward. I'm not sure whether it works on all quests.
What Level to Use?
# Jan 25 2002 at 12:24 PM Rating: Decent
I multiquested this for my little Level 4 Dwarf Cleric. He now has it and is wearing it, but when I right click to summon ale (the only reason I got it in the first place!) it says I am not a high enough level. Any idea what level is needed to actually be able to use this thing?

RE: What Level to Use?

I leveled this character up to 5 and it works. It makes sense as level 5 is when clerics can summon water. This guy now can summon 1 pod of water with a very very low fizzle rate. Each cast of the symbol results in two ales for each water used. Great thing - since the water rarely fizzles and the symbol doesn't rely on your attributes - I can get completely smashed and still make brew.

You'll recieve one Brell's Blessed Stout for every two levels you've advanced. At 40th, you can right-click for a stack of them, and it takes one summoned water.

I can't wait to get this guy, i got my Preserved Hops, and Worn canteen from a guy who trained to zone, then when i got back to get my body he told me to take this items and look up the quest and hoped that I wouldn't hate him for getting me killed. Well, I wasn't, and was actually very happy for he saved me having to wait until level 32 for free beer! which makes me happy. I wonder if I could go do the Initiate symbol quest again, just to have both...........mmmm.....strong beer.......lol

I just got mine tonight. I headed to Highpass Keep, and kept my WR party knee deep in Brell's Blessed Stout all night. I would hand them out as new people joined the group. Eveyone loved it. I also passed alot out to anyone at the bank. Some folks went on CRs drunk. I highly recomend this for every cleric of Brell

With the initate symbol of tunare you have to equip it to use it... I would bet 1k that you need to equip the item to use it.
RE: can i or not
# Nov 01 2001 at 11:45 AM Rating: Decent
You're absolutely right, you do have to have it equipped to use it. I just quested it last night (would have done it a while back, but couldn't find Forest Barley in Kith ANYWHERE, then yesterday's patch they announce that it's back, went in to Kith from WC, and it's on the merchant about a dozen paces from the zone in the first hut). One thing I don't see mentioned here is how much it summons, or that it requires a component to cast. The component is one summoned water (yes, just one :), and for me at 45 it summons a stack. I heard that it summons more as you level, but I forget what the ratio is. it's either 2 ale per your level, or it's 1 ale per your two levels. Being high enough that either formula gives me a stack, and not greatly caring to reach 39 or 38, I can't verify which it is, if either.
The formula

After helping my brother get this for his little level 8 cleric I noticed that he could only summon 4. Then Keleric said that he could summon a stack. So obviously, the formula is (Level/2), round down. So, at 24, you would get 12 and so on. At 40, you get full stacks. Hope this helps. And yes, it only takes 1 summoned water.

Nice they are finally getting around to the others. My dark elf has had her highest innoruuk
neck symbol since that dark elf camp popped up
in lesser faydark EONS ago. I thought at the
time that it was one of the best quests I've ever
seen since it relied on difficulty rather than
patience or downtime. You went, you did, you spawned, you got.

The final for that was a 7 ac, 3 wis, 15 mana(I think thats right) neck piece for innoruuk cleric, that also casts clinging darkness. She got this at like level 21 and still was using it at 39 when I shelved the game for a while. It was just VERY impressive for her to slow a mob before it tried to run when no one else in the group she was in had a snare. People were always like "how'd you cast that????!!!" She had it hotkeyed in the same slot that my druid had ensnare.

Further nice thing about this was that Human
cleric of innoruuk or troll shaman of innoruuk could also do the quest and get the item, if they
had good enough faction (item was clr shm innoruuk, hum def trl)

Wonder what the third dwarf one is like?

Sweet an item that summons beer. I almost want to start a Dwarvin Cleric just to have this item!
#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 09 2001 at 11:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why do people insist on whining about symbols this item is decent becuase it summons phat ale that gets you drunk really fast and raises alchohal tolerance fast, Other than that it's not that great seeing as though its only 2wis +7mana when there are 4+ wis items for neck. Thank you plesse come again. And for those saying Pallys should get this, why don't SKs get the Innoruuk and Cazic ones ;)
its great because there will be a third one

That is why this item is good, like the
dark elf line which has been in for a long
time there will be a third one which (if compareable) will be about 7 ac, 3 wis
plus 15 mana and some nice effect.

If like the dark elf one it will seem very nice
since there is not much else for a clerics
neck you can get with 7 ac and 3 wis at level
25 or so on your own via a quest that is not
downtime/patience based.

I'd assume the last dwarf one is not in yet
since the quest does not mention it??? There
should be a Regent one like the dark elf one.
Erudite Clerics Screwed again
# Aug 09 2001 at 3:11 AM Rating: Default
Why do they at Verant insist on making kool items for dwarven clerics....come on guys there are like 5 dwarven cleric ONLY items in the game. Good Erudite cleric??? NONE!

Not only am I being punished stat wise for picking a Erudite Cleric but they add more content to make my race inferior. Oh, and I love the Erudte cultural armor...good thing I invested all that time and money into being a master blacksmith!!
RE: Erudite Clerics Screwed again
# Aug 09 2001 at 4:12 AM Rating: Excellent
Did you know Erudite Clerics have the same series if they worship Cazic? Hmmm and they have erudite cleric only quests in Paineel etc.

RE: Erudite Clerics Screwed again
# Aug 09 2001 at 11:37 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, but none of that means anything to a *good* Erudite Cleric.

That said, I fully expect that there will be initiate symbols for all of the gods that can have cleric/druid/shaman followers (not all can.)

As far as how good these are, these are apparently stepped quests much like the Shawl and ring quests. Expect to see these get better as the quests go on.
