It would be great if I, a Cleric, could use this wonderful piece of equipment, but it is given to a hybrid class which it will be of limited use.

You gotta be freakin nuts Maeli. I'd use this shield. And as for clerics, holy cow, if your a cleric complaining that you don't get decent items then your whack. Hell unlike a lot of clerics gear most pally only stuff is no drop and not the easiest to get to. For example you could sit on the first floor of Hate and equip your entire guilds cleric population with armor in no time. Very seldom have I been to the second floor for the pally gear unless Inny was up. This is just a small example and not comparing Hate drops to this shield at all. And yes I still use a 1hb item Hoarfrost Hammer and shield especially since I seem to be tanking a lot lately in the first Tier planes and need all the aggro I can muster.

Whats wrong with useing this as a paladin? The way I see it, it is much more suited to a paladin who can use it better. Paladins can actually bash something with it, take advantage of the 20 str (prime req) and the 20 wis (Look at that, ANOTHER prime req!). And it is relatively lightweight, WAIT! SHOULDN'T MONKS GET THIS?!?!
I think we can all agree that this one a VERY nice piece of equipment. But lets not cry about who can and can not use it, ehh?

an AC 55 shield with this stats is of limited use for a pallie ? think about it =P
In ToV northwing drops more than enough class specific stuff from the roamers, and no class should complain, for your whiny cleric this drops random from the named roamers :

the shield of the dawn is a drop from a named northwing dragon, it drops the same shield for SKs too.
