this is NOT wearable by dru/bst . my group of 61rog 65wiz/enc 62dru and 55bst killed this guy fairly quickly. i healed my pet twice and the gnome was dead.
The Robe drops of Seplawishinl Bladeblight. He is a level 60 Druid with pet and spawns at loc: neg 2900 pos 8850 (take boat from Butcherblock to Freeport and jump off at first dock where the boat stops). We killed him with a 60SK 60CLR and 60PAL and he was dead very fast.
Correction: Once upon a time during beta there was a bug that let dark elves start as druids, but all those chars were removed in one way or another. The other possibility is a few months after EQ's release, the guise of deceivers used to be usable by all classes and races. It seems a little known fact these days, though. I frequently get comments when playing my druid (she's always in dark elf form).
Anyway, about the robe.. Would be nice for wood elves to equip it, even though there is no graphic. I could still see the graphic on myself when I use my mask!! But oh well, I'm not complaining. I love my Elysian armor. =P
I have a pre-nerf guise. ;) I only know of one other druid on my server that has one and still plays. A friend of mine also had one but hasn't played for a year or so. Too bad, dark elf druids are nearly extinct these days. Anyone want to buy me? =D
Looks like its not just druids who get a raw deal here. Beastlords are now listed in the description. Do I see any of the beastlord races listed? Noooo...
Verant must be smoking something to taunt the druids with a robe and them not add the druid races to the list of races that can wear it .. that's just sick
I just took the little druid down and have this robe he also summons but I love my new look and Im guessing I was first on Bertoxx for it. Man I am one sexy cleric now LOL
I'll bet all you dark elf, gnome and high elf druids out there are SWARMING to get this robe, eh. >:) Verant got to lay off the pot... Looks like a sweet item otherwise...Kedge Robe lookalike you say? Niiice. Would look crappy on my wood elf druid though... Whatever, I'm rambling.

Or even the _4_ other classes that could use it!! *shock of horror* just because you're a druid doesn't mean everyone is. Lay down your own pot before you start calling others stupid.
your missing the point yoral.. what's stupid about it is to list druid as a class that can wear it when none of the druid races can wear it, just takes up extra spaceo_O
From what I understand, this robe looks like a Kedge Robe. I have ALWAYS wanted a kedge robe, mainly because its to damed pretty (the stats aint bad for those of us with 200 int either) But, the problem is, all Kedge Robes in my guild go to rogues for their epic.
Well, now at least I can get the same look. Even if the stats are crap. :-) And, sence no one else would want to camp the robe, chances are 99 out of 100 I will get it, should I bring all guild members for the fight :-)
Here is a SS of a High Elf wearing it. First robe on Prexus btw! =) http://www.namelessorder.com/cgi-bin/screenshot.pl?action=show&file=Rokky608.jpg Only took 3 people to kill him, very easy fight. Was a fun fight tho. Was myself(60monk) the owner of the robe(60 cleric) and a friend(55 necro) The necro was good help because his regen is high, and she stopped that from happening =)
Heh, none of those races can be druids anymore...but I HAVE seen some DE druids running around the server on Brell. Unless there's some kinda' mask or something I'm not aware of (which there very well could be) I think DE's were able to be druids at one point (please, somebody, correct me if I'm wrong so I don't sound like an idiot =D). In that case, this would make a really sweet (if not quite uncommon) combination- DE Druid in a caster robe.
I believe what you are seeing Vlheid, is a character who has a pre-nerf mask of Deception from Guk. Item was changed over a year ago I believe. So you saw a toon who has been around a while.
Well, what he saw was a long time player but keep in mind that Verant messed up in the beginning and it was possible to have a DE Druid. They changed it ASAP but there are still a few DE Druids out there.
Uh... no. Dark elves were never allowed to be druids. I've played this game since it was in Phase 4 of Beta. Even if it was possible before that (which it wasn't), the characters were wiped after beta, so no beta characters exist. Since March 16, 1999, there have never EVER been any dark elf druids. Any druids you see as dark elves have a pre-nerf mask of deception from L Guk, from back when it didn't have to be equipped to be activated.
Yeah, cause the other ones don't have robe models. I think they probably meant to add human, or not add "druid."
I'm kind of wondering if they will correct this across the board with luclin and possibly the ability to have models like wood elf display a robe then (though with the older graphics enabled it would be the cheesy non robe colored overlay still)
Okay, so what we have here is essentially an Oracle Robe, with one more point of AC, without the extra 25 mana, and with a different look, that happens to have some very peculiar race/class restrictions. It drops off a guy who is way too high to be hunted for such an item, and the guy is in the middle of an ocean on a rarely visited island.
My guess would be that the fellow is quest related, but I wouldn't generally tend to think the robe is a part of the quest because it isn't no-drop.
Not to disagree with you in regards to the quality of the item, but the Oracle of K'Arnon who drops the robe of his namesake is in the same zone. =P The Robe of the Grove is probably intended to be a kind of consolation prize, for taking a 60 mob, and minor hit to the named factions that comes with it. And, perhaps, he does have other drops, which are uncommon or rare. At any rate, I was sure disappointed when Tad told me the stats. =P It does look okay, though, and the name is unique. And remember, looks are everything! ^^
I was the one who discover this new guy and brought a group to take him out, (I sent in this picture) He is a level 60 gnome druid with a druid bear pet, so far he drops this robe and a FS staff. Seplawishini Bladeblight He hits for max 179dmg
Spells: 32dmg shield on pet and casts on himself SoW Firefist Ice Ensnaring roots Engulfing roots Blinding Luminance and he can hit you with a 330 Lifetap
his pet can hit up to 17dmg and the pet can proc scourge on you
He is very high magic resistant, kinda medium for fire and not too sure on other resists.
The robe looks like the kedge robe when your wearing it. so far he has a spawn time longer then 27hours+ he can be killed with 1 group, we killed him with a 53 shadowknight, 51 mage, 54 wiz, 53 druid, 51 monk, 58 ranger. He does not respond to any hails even with a Ally con
He is on woodelf faction you loose faction with: Faydark Champions - woodelf warriors King Tearis Thex - City ruler Soldiers of Tunare - woodelf druids there is no faction increase for killing him
He's immune to mez but not immune to root. Normal to high magic resistance. The pet can be mezzed easily.
I tried to solo him as a 64 enchanter with pet, and might have been able to do it eventually, but with his hp and regen it would be a rediculously long fight. Better to bring along a druid or wizard to help finish him off. You'd think a level 60 druid could annihilate you with nukes (the brownies in Lfay sure do), but he actually didn't cast much.
The faction hit seems fairly normal, not huge like you'd get with Sir Lucan or Linara Parlone.

It seems very odd for him to be there just for this somewhat cruddy robe when he lowers various wood elf druid factions.
I'm almost thinking he will be for some kind of a druid quest eventually, which would explain why the item really can't be worn by druids (besides a verant ***** up)
I'm not sure I follow the logic. I can see why an NPC could be built and placed in the game before a quest was ready, but why make the reward item unusable to the class the quest is intended for?
What makes the most sense to me is that the robe is part of a quest intended for HIE, DEF, and GNM clerics and int-casters, and that the item is usable by druids just so that an NPC druid (Sepalwishini) could equip and use the item.
It's also possible that the quest won't be given out to gnomes for the same reason. They just thought it would be neat to have a gnome druid.

They have 2 morphing masks much like mask of deception and iksar hide mask. one turns them into a DE other a HIE. And it is a form, not an illusion. It allows them to wear that races armor as well. Some uber items won't wrok with these masks tho. And it is sort of hard to find an item that is druid on it but doesn't allow druid races, yet allows high elves. the actual purpose of these masks is to give them to 2 rogues in PoM so they can sneak by a NPC of that race and in the end they give you a nice new mask with 25wis

He is a druid, and seems to not always have robe as on karana he's currently (8/6/01) spawned with an odd looking staff but naked gnome appearence.
There are a few cases in game where an NPC doesn't follow class restrictions. Such as the Ogre at the docks in Freeport, he's a paladin, I believe.
The weird race / class restrictions are so verants gnome druid can wear it. Same as the neriak ceremonial robes in PoH. they are no drop robes that are simply there so the dark elves have a robe appearence.
As Yrys states it drops from Seplawishini Bladeblight. He's on Brother Island. Get off at the first stop after leaving Butcherblock before Freeport and walk straight back. He does have a bear pet. The first gnome druid perhaps?
It wouldn't be the first time Verant has created an NPC race/class combo that players can't have. Part of the monk epic quest involves a female dark elf monk named Deep.
Agreed, probably a quest NPC. That was my thought after seeing that this item, which drops only (so far) off of a level 60 mob, is about on par with other robes which drop off of much lower level mobs. I cannot for a minute imagine a group of 50+ players grouping just to camp this fellow on his, as claimed above, abyssally long spawn, just to own THIS robe (though I do not profess to fathom the workers of the high-level mind, not being one myself, hehe). I imagine, though, that a few rich twinkers will enjoy this item.
