My brother received this item on Fennin ro.
I remember the day he called me at college to tell me...he was so excited he could hardly talk. Anyway..my brother quit playing EQ to concentrate on school. So the char with this weapon has been rotting at lvl 57 for a long time. So today i decided to break him out and lvl him. Wish me luck..my poor Bard will just play mana song now = P

Personally, I think it's fun to actually role play in an RPG. I mean, that is what it's meant for isn't it? Personally I agree with the last statment that there shold be more low-level GM events with respective low-level loot. I have personally noticed that there are not very many quests for us levs 15-20. I love the thrill of completing quest and seeing the faction and exp changes, AND knowing that I am doing something more to roleplay than just slash and hack. In fact I just had a good idea if VI would ever do it... that is to offer more experience for quests with worse items.

But alas, I have gone off subject. The point is, it sickens me to see people disrespecting the value of ROLEPLAYING in a game that is devoted to ROLEPLAYING. Btw, who here has actually tried to be in character at all times? Tough isn't it? Yes, you'll notice, if you ever try that role playing is actually a challenge if it's done right, but after a while, you actually become your character, and start thinking like they would, almost as if you ARE that character... hence ROLEplaying.

Sorry about the sour grapes, but this is precisely the reason why Camelot has the potential of being much better than EQ.

Thanks to all who heed my words, and my you have safe hunting always.

Malaclypse, wanting to RP is a sign of someone who HAS a life. Its the PowerGamers, and Loot Junkies that have no life. I should know, roleplaying came out long before EQ did and a lot of people do it to get AWAY from their life. I happen to enjoy Roleplaying but get told to "Shut the f*** up!" or "You have no life if you act like the EQ gods are real" I'm sorry but if you RP correctly then when your playing the game THEY ARE GOING TO BE REAL. I like the idea of GM's having events with no rewards, I even saw an event where high lvl's couldn't touch them. *only below lvl 20* what did they drop when finnaly killed? A rusty dagger. And people were cussing out the GMs for it too. *sigh* Anyway, Congrats Lishum on your Epic, Glad you got it =)

Malaclypse was responding to a post where someone claimed to take pleasure in attacking GM's on site, blasting mindlessly to disrupt whatever event is taking place. Perhaps you have your filter set so that you didn't see the post he was responding to. I agree with Malaclypse's derision towards the relevant post, though he was a tad more insulting than necessary. In any case, it's not the first time I've seen someone attack a poster because they had their filter set and didn't see the post to which the response was made, therefore assuming it was made against another one entirely.

Heh. Sorry about that guys. Forgot about the filter bit. Anyhoo, I'm very much in favor of role play, I do it constantly on Povar as the Mad Mage, King of karana, slayer of sarnaks, snazzy dresser and arch nemesis of the evil squirrel empire (furry little bastards...)

Granted, may have been a little harsh, but people like Cictus really ruin the game for people who actually ARE trying to RP, particularly in a GM event.

They go around with their uber little equip, looking down their nose at anyone pre 60, ******** out anyone who doesn't raid ToV every other week and generally making EQ a royal pain for everyone else.

GM events are one of the big chances for mid or lower level people to get great equip without having to wait like 50 levels, or farm CB belts till their eyes bleed. And ineveitably at pretty much every event I've been to, one of these blokes wanders in and starts blasting away at the GM till they leave. And not because they hope to get anything out of it, just because they can.

I don't care how damn uber ya are, that ain't cool. Anyway, that was my first ever post, nowadays I'm a little older, a little wiser (or so I hope), and a HELL of a lot cooler! FREE B33R FOR EVERYONE!

L8r all.

Was a quest in paludal caverns the other day, a GM event, had to escort a vah shir by the name of "Keisu the Kitty" to her home, through Paludal Caverns. Yeah, I know, I COULD have lead the group through PoK to the Shar Vahl book, but when someone in the group suggested it, my valiant berserker said to him "Din't ye ha'e any brains in yer empty 'ead?! On'y 'vencherers c'n touch the books, lad. Wouldnae do Keisu any good ter try that. Nar... we're gonner have ter walk her through this reekin' hole ter her home." And so we did. We each got a reward for getting to Shar Vahl, and mine was a Jagged Band, which did not replace my Velium Fire Wedding Ring. It instead went into my bank, in it's own slot, so that whenever I went to the bank I could remember the fun I had with those people. It's not always about loot.

I had the great pleasure of being involved on this GM quest. It was good fun except for certain players who couldnt even spell roleplay let alone attempt to do it. Im sure there would be alot more of attempts by Verrant to do these quests if it wasnt for certain individuals, so please guys if u dont wanna take part then take a hike. Gratz to the wiz (sorry forgot your name) who got the staff and the others that got smaller items too :)

Last week i was hunting for CoV and dragging a corpse when i saw the little dorf run by me. I thought wierd hailed it and when nothing happened continued to drag my corpse. I get back to the spires and see Al`Kabor there. The main character in the event was Lishum a level 54 i think wizzy. As soon as i heard that it was a GM event i told my guild about it and another wizzy came to GD. Long story short the 5 highest damage dealers got coins and Lishum got the staff. My friend got a dagger that looks pretty crappy but has good stats. Of course i didn't get anything and i even hugged Al`Kabor

I think we should wait a bit before posting every GM event. Drinal's return of Firiona Vie was cancelled because of over 200 people surrounding her, inspecting her, and making stupid comments.

I find it sad that instead of playing the game the way it is supposed to be played, people simply try to take advantage of what's supposed to be a fun event.

I also wish that the GM's would have events that didn't give out prizes, and maybe received penalties for killing GM mobs before they can role-play. I'd like to see Ikilljoo Uberness get his surname stricken, or replaced with "the weak" or "the cheater"... if they are going to reward the heroes of the game... they should penalize the not-so-heroic.

If anyone remembers the strange and stupid quest a while ago when tunare came to gfay and got a bunch of women to help her with something, me and a few others were busy blasting her and chopping lol. Funny part is that she attacked back (being a gm and all) and the guards chased after her, hitting her all around, so she had to do a aoe spell that was actually able to hit all the surrounding newbies and people and kill them, so they had to revive alot of people and it never went off. But everyone had a good laugh. Meaning that I am everyone and you all are no one, cya.

Dear Citius,

Let me guess. You're a 12 year old with no life, no girl, and way the hell too much time on his hands.

Why is it defective people like yourself get off on ruining the game for others? Do your own thing, but don't mess around when people are tryin to role play. It takes a seriously screwed up individual to get off on that stuff.

Sorry for the rant guys, just a pet peeve. GMs work hard to come up with events and stuff, and those are one of the things that really kills the motony on EQ.

They'd do em a LOT more often if people didn't try to kill em the second they show up. I mean they're GMs. THEY HAVE NO LOOT TABLE. Maybe if ya did manage to bring one down, and not **** em off enough to nuke you to kingdom come, then just maybe you can get some of the items they were carrying, assuming they weren't just spawning it as they gave it to players, which, granted they usually do at the end of events.

I mean consider, these are NOT mobs folx. These are the people who decide what events to have. They can also make it so that they're unkillable, and/or kill you in about one hit. And they DO fight back occasionally.

One of my favorite EQ moments was the pixie tag event in gfey about a month back. Wandering through Gfey when a whole bunch of girl pixies showed up and started playing tag. So I played along. One of em ended up falling in love with me, and rooted me so I couldn't run away. lol.

Then people started trying to kill them.

Ruined the event. Didn't kill any of the Pixies either. However for a good 3 or 4 hours we had a blast playing tag in gfey. Oh, and for all of you l33t crew who think you can take one of the GMs down, after taking one hit too many from a dumbass high level iksar shammy, one of the pixies charmed him and made him attack the guards. Very short little battle. No GM rez afterward to my knowledge.

Oh, one last thing. For playing along I got a rokyl's channeling crystal and a mith BP. About 1800pp worth of items in the market at that time. And as I said, the ones trying to kill the GMs got diddly.

In short, play along when one of these starts, rather than being a jerk. You get more out of the game. And not just financially.

I agree with you Darknyss, when I attended the GM event where Lanys wiped out the dark elf camps and then the meeting with the queen 70 percent of the people there were interested in only killing the GM's and looting them. About 5 of us actually tried to roleplay with the GM's... sadly it was a poor excuse of an event because the greeders ruined it. But on a high note a few got DTed by the GM's! hehe Sometimes it would be nice to be a GM!

then think when your the same level as him....
then think that he got this nice little wapon....
then think you got all the other ammor he has not has...
then think you beat him at any dual...

becourse this mana reg is only to get mana each tick but it is not only mana that flows trou exp loot and fun.
its the tactics and luck you get during the game...
no enemy even if he has this artifact cant defeat ya... just if you keep your head cool and dont think of that is looks stronger and is stronger maybe even get more mana then you. just get a few items with nice effects to make him beg for his live.

I seen some nice items laying around the world of everquest esp for wizards they have the most items with dd effects i think even that 10 hotkeys only for items will not do.
just right click them all and you got tons of damige.

but this item can always be nice.
i cant complain about that

i see no harm in one wizzy per server not needing C2, yet still able to benefit from it. not like it will put chanters out of the game.

I'm the guy who won it on Tholuxe... so just to clear some things up. The L60 wiz who lied that it was won earlier was not the one who showed up at the event and lost the roll... they are two different L60 wizards in two different guilds.

And also, I did not camp this quest at all. I just zoned into GD to port some people and the event started..

#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 06 2001 at 10:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You can tell VI is basically only interested in Warriors and Wizards lol. The age old stereotype of RPGs. The only classes they are making really strong are wizards and warriors. Warriors getting more and stronger crits, wizards getting huge nukes, warriors going to get a huge AC HP and ATK vamp, and wizards getting ports to nearly everywhere (even the god damn moon). Meanwhile rangers are trying to do the best they can to make a living (basically filling a spot for a bard or druid that went LD and didn't come back) and paladins out there getting brutally slaughtered. Then you people say well they like monks. Happens that monks being nerfed quite a bit. I think this is there plan. "Monk Nerfing=Days Brad McQuaid misses work"... and he misses a lot work. He goes to work... what... oh about 2-3 days a month. jackass. at least we know my rangers suck. he plays one and EQ is basically his game. but they suck cuz he doesn't make it to work enough to help the class out of their gay suck fest they happen to be in.

Wizard Epic plus Manastone
# Aug 06 2001 at 4:59 PM Rating: Decent
I don't know if I'd say that this puts a wizard's epic to shame, but think about it, its an Artifact. Its unique. Something special only one per server. What's so wrong with it being better than an item that potentially, ANY wizard could get with the right amount of help?

Besides, ever see a Wizard with an Epic and a Manastone?
1. Bind in Dungeon
2. Teleport to Old World Norrath
3. Cast Epic
4. Use Manastone until the Epic Rune wears off
5. Repeat 3 and 4 until full.
6. Gate back to dungeon at full mana minus the Gate spell mana.

This is more than a bit faster than a 10 point mana regen effect.

You missed the point.

That's a permenant effect.

It's basically Flowing Thought 10.

So, now what do you think?
RE: Wizard Epic plus Manastone
# Aug 07 2001 at 12:03 AM Rating: Default
I think there's one person with this item, at most, on each *SERVER.* This was given out by Al'Kabor himself in a special event that I'm presuming they run once. Though, of course, if he's harassed or otherwise annoyed, its altogether possible that the GM might give up on the event and then the server won't have any.

This is not an epic, this is a Unique item. I know-- I was there when the wizard who posted this screen shot got his. I've heard of it happening on two servers so far, it will probably hit them all eventually, if it hasn't already.

It would indeed be unbalancing (at least to Enchanters) if this item was still available. Fortunetely, it isn't, not by any real means.

By the by, to the rest of us, it looked like a shovel. I've seen screenshots of what it looked like to him, though, and it looked fairly clool, like a large staff witha crosspiece, all made of reddish velium.
A story about this weapon...
# Aug 06 2001 at 4:09 PM Rating: Decent
On Tholuxe Paells, this one-of-a-kind item was given out. Now, one of the people involved not only read the Quellious board and got the inside info on how to do this, he sat in GD for 5 days waiting specifically for this event, even going so far on other server boards as to claim he had already obtained it. Well, when the event finally hit, 3 wizards were there. One was automatically out because he was about level 44. The remaining two, including the one who claimed to already have it, went through the entire event, role-playing quite well during it.

The end came. Time to give the item out. How was it determined between the two remaining wizards, as decreed by the GM that ran the event?

/ran 100

The claimant lost.

Now, yes, there's a bit of poetic justice here. However, the fact remained that an item that puts the Wizard Epic to shame was RANDOMED off?

Something's not right there...
RE: A story about this weapon...
# Aug 07 2001 at 9:37 AM Rating: Decent
LEts speculate for a while as if I was a GM running the event. If there was a slightly lower level 56 wizard without their epic and also a level 60 wizard with epic and their uber guild there camping the entire zone bullying people to not try the quest by sheer wight of numbers.
Then seeing this situation as a GM I would definitely default the staff to the lower level wizard precisely for the reason he deserved it more. Why does he deserve it you might ask? Well, the high level wizard already has an uber guild prepared to try these kind of tactics and quite frankly I would consider them to be cheating.
Now if there was someone who tried to lie their way in to getting the staff then as a GM I wouldn't even let them have a hope of getting such an item.
I personally think the better wizard got the staff through hard work, which is the spirit of the whole event.

I was there on Rallos Zek when this started, and while I wasnt even able to witness this being given out, I think GM events are great. I had alot of fun talking with the GM, even though he did kill me and I didnt get a single item out of it.

I asked politely if I could be of any help, and he said he had no need for my tree hugging ways. I told him that the trees were sad, and needed hugs. I noticed he began to cast a spell, and had enough time to type, "Uh oh." before I zoned back to my bind point...

It doesnt matter if you won it or not, be happy you were part of a rare GM event!
RE: A story about this weapon...
# Aug 07 2001 at 1:10 AM Rating: Default
This was a foolish way to overpower one lucky wizard per server. But all it has really done is make one wizard happy and alot of other wizzies angry that they never had a shot at such an item. Hopefully Verant realizes this is no way to reward a class that has gone thru alot of tweaking. The people who camped for it (myself included) can't ***** about anything. This was a stupid GM event and u can't camp one.
RE: A story about this weapon...
# Aug 06 2001 at 9:56 PM Rating: Default
Nope, Xarien, you misread the story, since I was there.

The lvl 60 wiz from a uber guild lied that he has it already to prevent other wiz coming to camp the event.

Then when the event actually happened, it is 4AM EST, and that wiz was in SWEET dream. LOL.

And at that time, only 3 wiz at GD, lvl 44, lvl 56 ad lvl 60.

Lvl 44 outta event, since too young
and lvl 60 from another uber guild
and lvl 56 from a small guild

When event ended, GM said he can't determine who should win the items so GM propose /random 100. and the lvl 56 wiz won. This made the uber guild mad, since they said the lvl 56 wiz doesn't deserve it, because that lvl 56 wiz doesn't even has his epic.

And, of course, when the Lier woke up, he got crazy. ROFL LMAO. And the whole server knows he is a JERK.

Ok so you think the fact that this was randomed between the two wizards is not right? What about the fact that one guy CHEATED on a MAJOR Event Quest Artifcat Reward by getting the info off a website on how the event was run and then camped the zone on his server just so he could try to cheat his way into winning?

This is the worst thing I can see about multiple "identical" server worlds with different event schedules.

I rejoice in the fact that the cheater spent all that time and then still lost in the end but I would not be surprised one bit if the other wizard that won did the same thing.

An item that is an artifact means that there is only one per server, right? So whoever gets this is just one really really lucky wizard. The effect is pretty sweet too.
