Lethar and Dyn'leth - Blood of
Betrayal Vol. I

Notation: A one-of-a-kind
Elddar moonlocket was given to
me, Librarian Hemfar, in order
to interpret its past. It is
a rather complicated item that
holds much history about a
mother, father, and son and a
betrayal that is difficult to
comprehend. The
interpretation of the visions
will appear in chapters so as
not to confuse them.

The Mother Elf, Veldyn

The locket reveals that the
child who was born to Veldyn
was not what he seemed, though
the mother was oblivious to it
at the time of his birth.
Veldyn named the child

Dyn'leth in order to honor its
mother and father. The
father, Lethar, was a young
and wise Elddar elf to
Veldyn's eyes. The love
between mother and son was as
a close a bond as one might
expect, especially given that
the family of three lived in
solitude in the Serpent Spine
Mountains within the great
temple at Spine Peak.

It was after the birth of the
child that Lethar changed. He
withdrew from mother and son
and would rarely see them. He
forbade them from entering
certain areas of the shrine,
telling them it was for their
own protection. Veldyn
understood that something was
amiss, but for Dyn'leth's
sake, said nothing and focused

her efforts on rearing him as
a good and knowledgeable elf,
passing along all the
knowledge of her kind to him,
knowing that they were very
much alone and that the
existence of the Elddar may
soon be altogether extinct.

The locket presents Dyn'leth
as a loving child toward
Veldyn, but because of his
father's absence and behavior
toward her and him, he grew to
resent his father. As the
years rolled on, Lethar
withdrew farther from his lady
and child and treated them
both as annoyances. As
Dyn'leth grew older, he felt
he saw his father look at him
with hatred. While Dyn'leth
would never act on his
emotions for his mother's

sake, he watched his father
with a great distrust and
would often try to follow him
into the depths of the temple.
Lethar being aware of his
meddling son, raised wards to
prevent him from freely moving
about the reliquary to
Veeshan's scale.
