Pretty nice for Erudite SKs for the slot

I just made these pauldrons tonight, after having the pieces in my bank for ages. I was afraid I was going to fail, as I only had enough material to make two attempts - but it succeeded, and it replaced the Drolvarg Mantle I'd been wearing since level 18.

Far too expensive and difficult to be worth the effort - more than 700pp for materials not to mention time invested getting Tailoring up, but it's a nice piece.

There are imbued iksar cultural armors with stats they can be worn by iksar SKs but the stats are shaman based its considerably easier to make than steelsilk tho. As for iksars having to gain faction to smith i have 204 in smithing and it didnt cost me a dime because cabilis is the best smithing city in the game simply for the fact that awhile back iksar cultural armor sold to merchants for more than it cost to make

Are there Iksar versions of this armor? Or, for that matter, other racial versions? This would be good for a lower level SK

Do Iksar have *this* armor? No, this is the Erudite cultural armor. Can iksars wear cultural armor in general? Yes.

Information for Iksar cultural can be found at:
http://www.eqtraders.com/secrets/recipes_smithing_iksar.htm

They have no stats on it, probably because it hasn't been made yet. Most people don't choose to go Iksar for their smiths as they have to earn mucho faction in Freeport, the finest smithing city in the game or make due with a crappy smithing city, and also have a low base for starting int/wis, thus it's more difficult to make an iksar trade mule.

As for the last part of your question, every race in the game except trolls has a cultural armor that they can either wear, make, or both. Ogres can wear adamantite though I'm not sure they can make it, they also have ogre splintmail and such.

Half elves can also wear the cultural armor of wood elves, high elves and dark elves, because they themselves are half elven. (Though, they never declare their heritage as a part of the game, so a half elf warrior can be wearing a suit of Koada'dal field plate next to some Adamantite plate. You can develop a really unique look too if you can manage to get all this armor made.) Half elves themselves, to my knowledge cannot make any cultural armor, as they allegedly have no culture of their own.

Most cultural armor is made using the smithing skill, Erudite, Halfling and Wood Elven armors are mostly made using tailoring, and being that tailoring is much harder to raise than smithing, it's much, much rarer.

Point in case, all the smithed culturals came to light well over six months ago, the Erudite imbued cultural was just made for the first time in bulk to my knowledge.

Anyhow, hope that shed some light on the subject.

You're slightly off on a few points, Virvallen...All the Iksar culturals have been made (because they are pretty much the easiest culturals in the game). Most can be found here on Allakhazam's, but EQTraders.com does have all the stats, just not on the recipy page you refer to (which would make sense...go figure) For armor stats go here:
http://www.eqtraders.com/secrets/recipes_smithing_armor_stats.htm
And for weapons go here:
http://www.eqtraders.com/secrets/recipes_smithing_weapon_stats.htm

Also, you wouldn't want to go to Freeport to smith as an Iksar since Cabilis is in fact probably the best place on all of Norrath for tradeskills. EVERYTHING storebought needed for ANY trade can be found in ONE zone (East Cabilis) with the exception of normal water - You have to go to West Cabilis for that. In fact, you can make the basic Iksar cultural (un-enchanted Cabilis Scale Mail) without even zoning ONCE.

As for "crappy" starting stats, erm...did you actually check that? With 75INT and 85WIS Iksar are in fact superior to the basic human tradesman, and if you chose a Shaman, you will have a very, very nice WIS-base for doing your tradeskills, equal to most and superior to some races. The Necros aren't too shabby either.

It is true that there aren't all that many accomplished Iksar Smiths, but this is in no way because we have any real difficulty with the trade. I guess people who chose to play Iksar often focus on something else - That's ok, it leaves more business for the rest of us.

Actually trolls can wear Ogre war splint and Ogre war plate. In fact, trolls who follow Cazic-Thule or Rallos Zek can wear imbued Ogre cultural armor. Trolls who follow Innoruuk unfortunately have to make do with non-imbued Ogre armor.
