Just a guess,but as the name "Of the Crawler" is being questioned,I thought I'd try to shed some light on it...Firstly,the fact that dragons are considered giant Wurms by many may lead to part of this name..Otherwise,the disdain of Mobs in ToV towards players probably generated it.

What's with everyone claiming an armor is a chain/plate/leather type? Hehe each is unique and can't be distinguished to easily. For example, this item can not be plate, because 1) Iksar can use 2) Shamen can't use (yes shamen are a plate class). Each armor is unique and doesn't have to fit into the chain/plate/leather definition...

Totemic is the only plate they get as is toalns for rangers FYI
Acually there is JB Gear which is plate for shamans as well as Totemic, and "FYI" tolans darkW-O-O-D armor is wood if you didnt get the memo

Drow are a product of D&D. The name isn't even trademarked, but people tend not to use it. Dark Elves on the other hand, are used by flocks and droves of Fantasy writers. No infringing there ;)

anyone know? most items i've seen and read about have easily discernable names. a <blank> sword of flame will drop from <blank's> corpse, and have a fire proc or fire resist. anyone know the story behind this one?

No, Rogues can use Chain-type armors. There are some special armors that are actualy Chain-type but have the Plate Armor graphics.
Just like Shaman are a Chain-Type class but Totemic and Jaundiced Bone armors have plate graphics.
WAR CLR PAL SHD BRD are the typical actual plate wearing classes.

Ok this is a first VI put 0 weight on an item and hasnt put monk as a class for it hehe. I am not flaming it and nor do I care that its not a monk usable item although MANY monks will flame claiming this should be "MONK ONLY" due to the weight alone

Its plate, simple as that. And I really don't think "many" monks will flame, just one or two.
Weight is a pretty incidental attribute of armor, save, of course, to monks. But just because it has no weight doesn't mean its designed for monks, just as if it has charisma doesn't mean its designed for Enchanters, or wisdom doesn't mean its designed for religious casters. Sure, with those classes in mind, they usually gift those items with those attributes, but not *every* wisdom item is made for Clerics, Druids, and Shamans (and Paladins and Rangers, even.)
