I saw a wood elf warrior (I believe, MAY have been a bard / ranger / rogue, tho I'm pretty sure it was a warrior) wearing this yesterday. Looked on him like purple ry'gorr...very cool.

One of the EQ developers have stated that Class: NONE is just a mistake. You can see that on other items as well, for example a ring drop in Velks. It will be fixed, but most should be usable anyway.

You make all us Monks look stupid. 20 Lbs is massivly overweight unless you are nude besides it or have on all 0.0lb stuff and weapons. Even then the AC would be reduced to like 20ish and then in that case would be rather stupid to wear. I really hate pepole who know nothing about their class..

Funiest part I think is something, well even better ... chest armor, that weighs 20 stones and that has a size: Tiny ... must be pretty dense!

Ive seen several items with stats that have classes listed but for race it says NONE. I think Verant may be adding new items already for the new race that is due out with the next expansion. Or it could be some crazy quest like was mentioned =P

I don't think the NONE means that they're planning for the new race. I think it would actually have the letters VAH or something like that on the line. I say this because I seem to remember before Kunark even went live, you could look at a lot of monk items (I was playing a monk, a lot of other things may have been this way, I just didn't notice) and see the letters IKS on the Race:... line. Maybe Verant's doing things a little different this time, but why? Its not like they've bothered to keep the Vah Shir (sp?) a huge secret lately. Even those videos they keep releasing to the public are like twenty or so of the same damn pictures of Vah Shir fighting trolls. Just my 2cp.
If that's true, we'll have a good idea of what classes the new race will be able to play.

Some items were never ment for players to use, look at shadowed weapons, or the weapons lift of an enchanter npc's pet. it prob is just something that the mobs can wear but we can't

I was thinking that perhaps this is being used as a way to increase the difficulty of a loot dropping MOB. The MOB dropping a hide is harder to hit that a lootless one, because the MOBs count as wearing this.

I think you missed the point...
No race can wear this. It's either bugged or for some crazed quest. I'd assume a quest in Kael, most likely... unless they're prepping up for the 8th Shawl Quest, which isn't in the game yet, btw.

Well, spells often have a RACE: NONE on their listing, but everyone of that class can scribe/mem it. Maybe none will still allow any race to wear it and the only restriction would be class?
