This is a nice pulling bow for either class. Nice resists so you aren't wasting your ranged slot, usefull proc. Rangers will need a second bow for /disc trueshot though, with better dmg/delay.

We had this drop the other day from Mistress Latazyra (Mistress PMS) She also dropped a runed sea shell (EB) which is used for the 7th shawl quest, and a quest gem for INT caster robe. She also dropped a black sapphire I believe.

We had 3 groups to drop her and we lost a total of 2 I think from the battle, 1 was the 59 Enc that tash'd her (dead instantly Go Adjani! =P) and I think a ranger. The battle lasted awhile because she cast Forlorn Deeds on most of the melee and that can put a damper on your plans. All total we lost about 4-5 because no one was able to stun at the end and she gated and brought back all her castle friends (2 sirens 1 icy servent and 1 watery servent).

This is a good war item , not a good ranger one.

Warriors could Bow Kite with this bow , albeit needing a huge supply of arrows to do so (polishes the tolans bracer). Damage and delay are not exceptional for a ranger bow (I have windsaber for normal useage , 30/39 velium for trueshot moments) and I think most rangers that could get this would prefer the Huntsman or better for the stats.

I wouldnt roll on it if a warrior wanted it.

Rangers can get better and this would be a sweet addition to a warrior's gear bag. But if no warrior was rolling, I certainly would not let it rot.
Bow use...
# Jul 07 2001 at 9:46 PM Rating: Default
Seems to me this is a nice weapon to pull with, but most are not going to be kiting with it simply because of the delay on it. Even with Haste and a Fleeting Quiver it isn't going to fire as often as a Shaped Darkwood Compound.

The most use I can see out of this item is the resistance adds for the ranged slot. I haven't seen too many of these types of items for Melee classes. The key is going to be how hard is the mob to kill and how often will the bow drop.

All in all, I think I will stick to using Raincaller or my SDCB, thanks.

Ok we've had the debate about why this or that class can't use it, Some moron posted he's gonna Powerlevel people, and we've discussed the effect. Now can anyone list what this fell off of? I've been hunting with single groups quite a bit in SG and just want to now if there's a particular mob I should look for or if it's just random (and if so random off which mobs).

Is SG another random loot zone? I havent been there since they patched it, and sure as hell have never hunted there. It seems like it would make more sense for this to drop from Kelorek Dar in CS than for it to drop from random zone mobs.

Not sure if everything drops this but SG is a random loot zone (maybe named have a different loot table /shrug).

This bow shouldn't be able to be equiped by paladins...knock them if you must but at lvl 60 they are very powerful with celestial heals and 90% exp res and not to mention the cleric stun line stopping at lvl 55 or so... snare would make the paladin class WAY to powerful and SKs can already snare, bows are used for pulling so just get a 250 range bow and shut your mouth, or if it has real nice stat bonuses. rangers can already snare and theres not much a warrior can do with a snare other than bow kite somthing for about 5 hours =)

thats why its war ranger only =D

RE: no pallys
# Jul 06 2001 at 1:02 AM Rating: Default
Yes:) For a pally this would be nice too but not as nice as for a ranger or warrior.

Dont know about other pallies but my archery is capped at 75 and this skill is only for pulling if Youre a pally. For pulling You get a longrange weapon and stop worrying bout the rest.

The snare proc wont go off many times when You only pull with it. And a pally aint kiting nothing so it would be usefull only to keep mob from running away or at some cases to get an extra heal but we got root for that.

So, VI didnt ***** up this time with the classes of the item.

:)

A magic resist based snare is quite crappy :) If you are a ranger, go ahead and get the bow from gleed instead (it procs a 81pt DD, great for bow kiting and can be quested for, or you can camp gleed for it). Rangers need bows that proc DD's or other extra damage spells, not something that procs a crappy snare :)

I could see this bow being useful for a soloing warrior - or more than likely, being worn for the resistances on it. Other than that its really a toy. :)

When is Verant going to acknowledge that Paladins and ShadowKnights can use bows too?
RE: Sigh...
# Jul 06 2001 at 1:01 AM Rating: Default
The reason that there are not many good bows for Paladins and SKs is for balancing. A Ranger is just the embodiement of an archer. They are meant to be the best archers in the lands, not Holy Knights and their evil counterparts. (paladins and SKs). Rangers can't use alot of the great weapons that paladins and SKs use. So it is only fair to block off some stuff to the paladins and SKs.

"Cheers, and be DRUNK!"
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 05 2001 at 7:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Also, Paladins and SK's get what, 80 skill in Archery? Rangers and Warriors get 240. `F the Paladins and SKs. Paladins should be removed as a playable class anyways.

You've obviously never been saved by a well-timed LoH or heal, and simply don't appreciate the class. Although maybe, given your attitude, nobody would want to save you. I wouldn't.

Ummmm. What are you replying to? They were saying that Pallys and SKs already get a bunch of nice weapons that aren't useable by anyone else, so the fact that some weapons can't be used by Pallys and SKs makes the game a lot more fair. He didn't say anything about not appreciating a class. He didn't have an attitude. You are just another reason why I don't like grouping with Pallys. But then again, I play a necro so I don't like grouping with anyone.
RE: Sigh...
# Jul 23 2001 at 10:08 AM Rating: Default
Change your filter setting to "never filter" and you'll be able to see the post by Sinthar that Fanon was replying to. I think that saying that "Paladins should be removed as a playable class anyways" is sufficient "attitude" with which to be upset. Actually, I found Fanon's response rather mild.
RE: Sigh...
# Jul 05 2001 at 6:16 PM Rating: Default
Its also that fact that warriors have no long range pulling abilities. SK's and Pally's can tag with a spell if they are needed to pull, while a warrior without a distance weapon (bows, throwing weapons) would have to run up, smack the mob, and run back to the camp. Rangers are given bows because of roleplaying and such, so not much to explani there. Pallies and SK's have spells to pull from a distance with, warriors get bows to pull with.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 05 2001 at 10:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) So this is to say that rangers have no long range pulling abilities? is that your reason. Ohhhh just cause ours spells blow, our damage gets us a high taunt, our armor is made of paper, and our hitpoints are that of a snake, people forget about us. This would be used for pvp (i play on rz, i know all to well :)), if anything. only thing that seems odd, 170 range, not 150, not 200, but 170, they couldnt even put the 5 on the end to make it flow with the other numbers. And no paladins shouldnt get to use the bow, hell only reason warriors get to is they use all different types of weapons (so do just about everyone else but they are meant to). And if you question rangers use of this, well, ***** YOU!!!
RE: Sigh...
# Jul 05 2001 at 10:11 PM Rating: Default
Wow, talk about reading everything I say and turning it around... I said warriors have no long range pulling abilities which is why they are given bows... and I also stated rangers get bows based off of roleplaying and their abilities with them. Get a grip, read what I say, then tell me to ***** myself if I am wrong.

"Palis and SKs can use bows? No way!" -Gordon

Hehe, yes that is just a joke. But the reason you aren't seeing many SK/Pali bows is because at these levels bows are used mainly for pulling. Maybe somebody could get a shot or two off while the pull is incoming, but besides that a bow is very rarely used by any melee class. Monks are the usual pullers (and they can't use bows) and then a raid will have a warrior tagging a mob when its buddies have wandered off. But SKs and Palis do get some items that can be used in ranged slot to give stats. Runed Bone Fork for instance, 10 sv Fire, Cold, and Magic. I'd use that before this if I hardly ever used a bow. While SKs and Palis may look at bows and ask why they don't get the equivalents warriors and rangers do is because Rangers are the kings of bows and because warriors need bows for tagging.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 05 2001 at 11:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'd love to see the crits a Ranger or a Warrior would get with this....Not bad...

I don't know, but 170 range is good. The veluim recurves coming out of DN are like 30 37 100/150 range and are tradeable. This is a nice bow. Sounds like a snare/root proc to me.
