Rahzzin's comments on how weapon delay works are an incorrect - an old speculation that I believed had been dispelled with the rummors that dex increased attack speed and agi increased run speed. At any rate the offhand delay matters as much as primary hand delay. - BADDUDE
Well, BADDUDE, the rest of your reasoning is certainly called into question when you consider that your comment on agi and run speed is 100% WRONG. Agi DEFINITELY increases run speed. Why do you think that the +2 Agi rings dropped by Nillipuss are called Rings of Running? DUH! As a level 60 Druid it always amazes me that when I SoW another class they OUTRUN me. The reason I ALWAYS find out is that they have more Agi than me. Before you post perhaps you should spend a few seconds doing research so that yo dont misinform people.
2) Agi does not affect running speed, get 255 agi and you aren't running any faster. They're probably out running you because they strafe run, strafing while running is faster than running in a straight line.
Ahh, the blazing sun...so hot..beating down on me relentlessly...but I don't worry. I've got food and water and I'm walking at a fair speed. A good lvl later, I've got enough garbage on me to slow down Rallos Zek himself. (and yea, that WAS a joke) I cash it all in to the local vendors and promptly loot some more. unfortunately, while trying to lvl, I bit off more than I could chew, and a Gator chewed on me... I was fortunate enough to have someone witness my untimly circus act gone bad, and they rezzed me. now, aside from rez side effects and my blue bar being nonexist, I seemed alright. I sat and meditated and thought happy thoughts on the dock. the cool ocean breeze felt good. I stood up and saw a few abandon corpses laying around and I looted them for cash upon asking who they belonged to, with no reply. I noticed that my AGI was still very much in the red, and the rez effect had already expired...my health and vigor were immaculate, yet my land speed suffererd severly...what was wrong? I had no loot on me to sell off..I had already sold it all........for...money...*sigh* I had traded one weight for another, and was suffering the weight of roughly 600-700 copper, 500 or so silver, 300 or 400 gold and a about 10 plat.....I wearily trudge through the desert to the nearest bank... My Selo's jamming on a Mistmoore Battle drum hardly made up...and the Anthem gave me enough STR to move. I was virtual bait for anything that would have its way with me. I eventually found a nice chap who offered me a port to the Rivervale bank to cash my woes in for a lighter load, and to make a sale or two. I agreed, and upon loading the cash into the bank (and into his pocket) I walked away with two lambent bracers, lambent gaunts and my AGI at it's best. I strapped on my drum and jammed Selo's which took me home on no time. I felt if I had just spread my arms (not legs) I could fly!...but that makes playing the drum a little more difficult...but...that's how I feel that AGI most certianly affects land speed. argue THAT! P.S. I really like this wep, and would like one. anyone wanna travel the world with me and pick it up? i'm on Dru Ro. :) *wink*
The only piercer I kept in the offhand was the Walrus Tooth when I was on a HP kick. This was only for 5 or so levels around the 20s. The rest of the time it was a 1hs or 1hb and my piercing is still maxed for my level, while the 1hs is maybe 5-10 points lower. The higher damage or a decent effect more than makes up for not having a second piercer. Anyhow the thing I wanted to mention is; The Double Attack works on the offhand, so keep that in your calcualtions when figuring out your ******** The Tooth would hit for 1-10 points and in doubles. The 1hs I have hits for 20-30 and often in doubles. For us Rogues, the faster that mob goes down, the better off we are, especially while soloing (snort-snicker)

If you want to talk about the class you could make your statements in the class specific strategy portion of this site, but this is for talking about the sword, and a fine sword it seems to be, Excellent for a rogue's offhand.

The attack delay of the weapons is calculated seperately when you use a weapon in both hands. The dual wield skill is used to determine if, when the offhand weapon's delay has expired, an attack attempt will be made with that weapon.
Rahzzin's comments on how weapon delay works are an incorrect - an old speculation that I believed had been dispelled with the rummors that dex increased attack speed and agi increased run speed. At any rate the offhand delay matters as much as primary hand delay.
Dual wield skill means everything. At low levels delay in offhand will mean mostly nothing. Your chance of actually swinging the offhand is pathetic, so having high damage is great. At higher level when dual wield gets close to 200, try equipping a 30 delay weapon and then a 20 delay in offhand and see the difference on logs. And I don't believe "dual wield" skill is cycled on offhand delay, its by primary, the faster your primary hand the more your offhand swings too it seems on parsing(between punching and 19 delay weapon using same offhand)
Dual wield skill is definitely dictated by the delay of the OFFHAND weapon. If it weren't, there would be no way that my warrior could swing his 18 delay offhand weapon 4 times before his primary (a 25/40 wurmslayer) cycles. Going by your theory, any offhand weapon I use would be downgraded to a 40 delay to match my wurmslayer, and that simply isn't the case. Also, if it were dictated by main hand delay, wouldn't everyone's offhand weapon swing at exactly the same time as the main hand if the main hand weapon was slower? That certainly isn't the case either. I've used a wurmslayer for over 20 levels, and my offhand weapons all work on their own separate delay.
This is REALY false, the speed of attempts will determine how fast your skill increases, and for some classes the dual wield skill is not capped at the same level as the normal 5per level + 10, so getting that skill up is, at first, paramount.
Can you put some non-weapon item like a torch in your primary hand while dual weilding to just test out your secondary weapon rate and damage? It would be easier that way than trying to filter out the main weapon hand damage.
This is correct, in that offhand delay does in fact matter as to when your second weapon attacks, BUT since you do not get a damage bonus to your offhand weapon, most folks prefer a weapon with a little more oomph to it. At higher levels, a lower delay is a bit more preferable for most melees for their main hand weapon than a bit extra base damage, cause you can be doing 10, 15 bonus damage per swing twice as often than 2 or 4 more base damage half as often. This does not apply to secondary melee slot. Hence the reason the Mosscovered Twig went from Uber to Crap in one swell foop when they made it offhand only.
This is true, but it only means that the offhand weapon's damage is based exclusivly on it's ratio, therefore a higher damage weapon has NO partucular advantage.
Its not piercing cause this would be too powerful this was made when there were no epics...and even now the best piercer is the primal velium from sleepers at 16/24.
I havn't talked to anyone that owns one of these(primal velium) nor do I think one exists no ayonae ro yet, but I would imagine with duelist one could backstab for well over 1400.
#MephfeestoDarkchild,
Posted:Jul 06 2001 at 2:47 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) your a dumbass, this was made a LONG time after epics came out. this is a velious drop, the epics were out in kunark, so i dont know what in the hell you are talking about. the primal weps are 13/20, not 16/24. plz get yur facts straight before you come here ranting on.
no there is a Primal Velium Broadsword that is 18/24. I think that was what he was thinking. Broad is the rarest of the primals it seems. As my server has had guild unities lately to finally take this dungeon. Several uber guilds got togther. 130 55+ characters in zone. 21 survived to come out. I think necros were a lifesaver in that raid. I think Cazic server has 29 Primal weapons on it now
Bard epic also has other nice qualities in it. So, don't be discouraged. Eventhough it is very hard to obtain if Your guild is above 52 and no twink army is close to 50.
VP is not too easy to get to either. So this is kinda also for those people who already are at or beyond 'the Epic weapon level'.
Yes, this dmg/dly ratio isn't too shabby.

They are actually trying to diversify everyone. As you look around, everyone looks and plays exactly the same. ALL Rogues use two piercers...ALL pallies/sks use 1hs/1hb and a shield or 2hs/2hb. Are you saying that everyone being the same is a good thing and you don't like variety or being unique? Then you are in the minority, my friend.
I could be mistaken cause i am just starting to get to the point of not being a lowbie, at level 40, but from what i have seen, most of us rogues seem to be two piercing weapons, by the time we are of sufficient level to earn an item like this. It's a great weapon as far as stats/delay, and I may have to pick up a gnoll hide lariat again to bring 1hs up to par, as I haven't used it in at least 15 levels i would say. But you really wonder what verant is thinking at times when they make class only weapons that seem against the grain for the class. They have been doing that alot with Velious I have noticed. 2h-Piercing for pally/shadowknights, when most seem to go with the 1hs/1hb and a shield route, both for the ac, and for the interupts.
It's not a bad weapon, and what rogue wouldn't like more strength for upping their max backstab, it just seems against the norm IMHO
Probably the main reason to not use a piercing weapon in off hand is the fact that high damage piercing weapons are very hard to acquire. Obviously, this is due to how backstab damage is calculated.
The highest damage rogue useable piercing weapon available in the game has a damage of 15. If you can finda 1HS or 1HB with a better damage and comparable delay, go ahead and put it into the off hand. You're not going to be backstabbing with that. It makes it even better if you can find one that procs something useful or has decent stats on it. All in all, it really doesn't matter _that_ much whether you use piercing, 1HS, or 1HB in off hand...just use the best weapon you can find there. Yes, I know that for rogue, piercing skil maxes higher than either of the others, but I'm really not sure if it makes so much difference that you should sacrifice a higher dmg other type weapon to use a piercer because you have a higher piercing skill.
Many rogues use a 1hs or 1hb in the offhand. There are many good weapons in those classes out there that are easier/cheaper to get than an equivelant piercer. My advice would be to get both 1hb and 1hs up to max. You may ci\onsider a Blackjack for the blunt...7/21 and reletavily cheap at 300pp or so.
True, but the Blackjack is still not cheap or easy to obtain. Besides, you want as high damage as possible in the offhand, and hell, its not hard to get a weapon with higher damage than a Blackjack. Cold Iron Morning Star, which is almost worthless these days, is still 9dam. I believe the Forged Morning Stars are also 9dam. Giant Militia Longswords are 11dam, and though I dunno where they drop, I sometimes see them on vendors and sell for only 5pp or so. Since the delay doesn't matter in the offhand, go as high damage as possible, but yes, I agree Ildera, you are better off as a rogue keeping 1hs and 1hb high for the offhand, as well as Piercing maxed for your primary hand.
