ITS BEEN NERFED! it is now a 250 / 250dd with the same 10sec cast time.
So What are you saying has changed Zeegen?

I could see being happy with these items soloing when you wanted to finish off a mob without wasting mana for the next mob. If I'm gonna take 10 secs to cast something these days it sure as hell gonna do more dmg then the robe or this pos. After 62 I would be embarrased to be using this junk in a group and especially on a raid.
this is a great finisher item. the casting time is nice. combo of this and the robe is really nice. virtually a manaless using wizzy.

It's a good finisher spell to save mana. I'd equip it.

well velk also drops a right click 600dd wizard robe. this is sorta nice for wizards who don't have better
This is clearly a wizard item since it says wizard is the ONLY class that can use it.

They must have updated Velk the sorcerer when they redid the zone. I havent heard of this stuff dropping before. Either that or it is extremely rare. In either case congrats wizzies.

The casting time of the orb is something like 8 or 9 seconds, and is interrupted if u move or duck. it looks like a glowing black stone when worn.

9 seconds casting time sounds about right. Who cares though, its a free nuke.
ANY Caster can use all the help they can get with mana management and having right click items is the way to go.

The effect is a 250Dmg fire based DD. I don't know the casting time on this, but its probably 2x the normal spell rate.
Still 15AC, and 10 int makes this a really nice item. Velk is a really nice caster mob.

I love JBB, don't get me wrong.. But this has a Spell almost as good as JBB's, and INT+Mana Attached. I'd wet myself if JBB had similar stats. Why? Because, even with my Rune Etched BP on I don't have a 200 Wis. I have to sack Wis in favor of AC all the time. THAT is why Shaman's would love an item similar to this. Not complainin, just thought you should be informed b4 you say something you apparently don't know much about. B4 ya say anything about the Wis being too low for my level. I say this, look at all the races who can be Wizards and their Base INT, then look at Shamans and their Base WIS.
People were angry about shamans getting a DD proc item, and they arent even supposed to have that kinda thing, and your angry about wizards, the supposed masters of damage, getting a comparable item off velketor, who is a lot harder than that guy in the crypt that drops this, forget the name.

i dont think the original poster was upset or complaining in anyway, in fact he was complementing them on such a nice item, he said Im not complaining or anything - bam right there your entire post was indeed rendered worthless, he was merely stating the fact that the jbb didnt have stats so this item was really good..... and shamans arent supposed to have that kind of thing, what cavity did you pull that out of?? bet i can guess which one considering altho known for their dots and slows, they do infact get some decent nukes, just not used very often as it is not their main role nor do they have the extra mana to use them, but talk to a soloing shaman and then come back, they dot dot slow while pet attacks, they heal pet and use all other mana towards nuking...jbb is probably the only piece of shaman gear worth anything, the rest, you have to admit, sucks a$$, i mean the effect on the breastplate is bad enough, you thought rangers had it bad, atleast theirs is useful every once in a while if the want to go sell something....
I was complaining the proc should be better. I duoed with a wizzy for a long time with my Ranger, I love wizzies, I am just sayin they get the short end of the stick :(

Even though you can look up this spell on any EQ site, thought I'd put it down.... 250 dmg fire based DD spell, 3.6 sec cast time on the normal spell BUT the casting times on right click items are usually a bit longer, I'd guess around 5 seconds, correct me if I'm wrong.
Cast time is 10 seconds.
