At 70th level, look into better gear or if you still need haste, look into ___ of pure haste augments, i.e.

I believe this belt also drops off the coldspine seahorses as well. It's VERY rare, but it does.

Lol the funniest thing about these posts on almost every item/subject on the site is, the first to or three posts have info pertaining to the main item/subject next thing you know people are comparing who can tank/Bash/smash/Mezz/DC what ever else is in the zone. Then off on another topic about how Ubba you are with all your loots from all over Norrath. Well to be honest nobody really cares .... and we all come here to check the stats/drop mob/class usability.
I especially get a kick out of those repeated posts --> How much haste does it have <--- Hmmm gee there is a fricken linked pic at the top of the page which is the first thing you see. Or are you running some special program that bumps you 3 pages down into this mire of crap when the screen loads up. Anyway kill any and all fish/swordfish you find track cuz he shows up where he wants. When you engage BACK to the WALL and do you best to land slow. Killed him 4 times 60 Sk 55 Rng Duo (Rng Epic Slow lands maybe 45 % of the time). And for you who say "if your down here killing him you should have better already or your making a charity run," BITE ME !! I have played EQ since Beta and I have every Expansion and it is by choice that I hunt only the old World ... I dont need to be Ubber ... PoT / Elem geared. Because I play for fun ... I have a job already and wont sell my soul to a Massive Raiding guild just so I can Pranec around and LINK my Crap. [Black]Well, I am done now ..... please feel free to flame my Spelling/Punctuation/Content, it helps pin point what class/style of a player you are.
Feel free to nail me with your flames .. check my spelling .. punctuation .. what ever makes you happy. I am not here for an E-***** building Experience ... these forums are for info not Ego's.

1) Find a way to kill seahorses/fish in the water in siren's grotto. Make it a decent way so that when you actually spawn Fellspine you can kill him without adds.

2) MR debuffs and slow or a pet tank. You will get knocked around bigtime if you dont slow this guy and he summons.

3) Camp site. Like listed below, any seahorse location that can also spawn fish will spawn Fellspine. I pulled the 4 at Cobalt scar zone and one or two from the downleft passage looking inward into Siren's Grotto.

If you keep the goof ups like bad pull timing to a minimum you should be able to kill 4 or 5 seahorse/fish plus the zonein bulthar/molkor and the servant at zonein clear. This is with pretty minimal dps (40ish?) Often you will find other ppl camping Fellspine. Be considerate and swim around to the right and kill some of those seahorses instead, they all make the same mob and if yer nice enough not to bother the campers they will most likely be nice enough not to try to ks you if Fellspine pops from one of your mobs.

Fellspine info:
Max hit 256, does not hit max hit often.
Melee mitigation: does not absorb damage any better than yer average seahorse really.
Speed: Hits pretty fast even slowed. Most you can slow him is 'Mostly' I dont know how much that is in relation to the max enc slow and shm slow, but either way I'd reccommend mr debuffs if you can get them.
Run at low hp? : Nope. The seahorses no longer run at low hps. If you are familiar with SG before vamp, they used to and it was bad cuz cant snare or root.
Hitpoints: Little more than other lvl 53 seahorses if at all, not very noticeable.

Visit for further Fellspine comments.

Its hard to tell if belt haste works from level one. I suspect they do from my twinking experiences, but the only way i know to find out would be to log a fight with a long delay weapon with and without the item at level one. Also, if it did not increase your haste but more than 1 or 2 percent, it could be that it adds a little each level until the level of effect listed on the item is reached. Either way if yer twink has one of these, yer covered on haste.

just wanting some info i run the program yalp to check in on my characters on what they are doin in the game. on my monk before lvl 33 was doin 24 dmg per second with this belt on and a pair of silver chittins that i have just never taken off. after making lvl 33 i cleared the log and fought some rechecked and still was doing 24 dmg per second. is the lvl for effect on this belt actually 33? Or is it lower or higher? i would expect to see the dmg per second to change at lvl 33 when the higher haste kicks in but it didn't change any ideas or info on this

Was in SG today, maybe 3 hours, my group 56 warrior, me, 56 Cleric and 65 chanter had no problem with this guy, he was easy. 1st time dropped belt, which I own, 2nd was mask, 3rd was tail, after another hour he hadn't respawned and we left.

Words of advice, He summons, rampages and doubles for 400. Do not try this one at home, also was unable to change run speed.

Hmmm no way he hits for 400 ; I soloed him a few times last month as a 65 shaman , he was just hitting for 256 ( I sat down a few times to test the max hit ) , and can be partially slowed . He summons but never saw a rampage on my pet ; maybe it's rare though , I dropped him quickly everytime so can not say much .
He can now spawn everywhere in the zone , assuming every swordfish/seahorse is a potential PH . I saw him 3 times in 3 differents places , even in the zone in , in front of me .

3 kills , 3 belts ; low level friends were happy .

All the other hate Items I've seen have an effective level of 1 for the haste % to kick in ... this is listed as level 33 for effect.

I'm assuming that that is just the level used to calculate the Item's Haste %. Can someone confirm this?

Which would be best for a 45 warrior.

Cloak of Flames or Spiked seahorse hide belt?

The belt is a little cheaper with 2% less haste than cloak and has lower but more evenly spread stats, but i'm not sure if the CoF would be worth the extra plat?

Can anyone help me?

Go with Belt. There are much better cloak items for defense for a warrior, then there are belts. In this case anyway.

So I've been researching stuff i can get for my monk, turns out this belt is by far thee best haste item I can get as a 63 mage with a couple friends, cle an dru.

at 34% haste with 4sta/25hp and many other stats it's better than RBB and RBG and most other haste items haste% AND stat wise, the cloak of crystalline waters is 2% more haste, but has terrible stats (no hp/sta) and I'm not gonna be soloing any dragons (i dont think =P) Cloak of flames is nice 36% haste and 50hp, again, no dragons for me tho.

So I read and study, the posts on fellspine are helpful in the illias bestiary part. what they leave out is that it is hard to get here, breaking in I died once, and get 2 mobs a few times. At 63 50% of the stuff is light blue here. until they do that exp change patch anyway, where lvl 50 stuff is blue to 65.. then it will be really hard to break this i think.. many assists with all blues as opposed to light blue/green

the place is guarded by enchanters and clerics (enthralled molkars) and melee fish. All of these agro on the way down the well, and the bad pathing is fixed so no /camp for joo.

once you get inside, its easy to stay here forever, which i have done.. my friends helped me break it, then left. I camp out in the water with eb items on of course =) and log in the next day to start camp again. 28 min spawns (omg so boring). so if you spend 10 hrs here you only get about 18 or 19 chances at the pop (you wont be getting it the instant it spawns, it wanders and can spawn deep in and take a few min to get to whereever you are)

so anyways.. I've been at this boring camp for 4 nights now, about 8-12 hrs each night. I have seen 5 fellspine, I got 3 masks, 1 chestpiece, and 1 whip. This belt might have been made the rare drop. If you get it, think long and hard about getting rid of it.

fellspine requires me to cast a couple pets sometimes if i fall behind in healing.

Dont fall for anyone telling you what its worth and talking you down in price, its a nightmare camp and it is better than most other haste items sold in bazaar =) hopefully one day i'll get this dang ellusive belt =/

i'm bored caming this thing right now can you tell?
welp.. i think ph is due up soon, so i best be off.

ive just read kalendas post and he mentions about autosplit and how if 4pp 4gp 8sp and 12cp dropped then the first guy got 1pp and the last one got a few sp and a few cp - well id just like to point out that it doesent actually happen that way, in fact if the grp is a full grp of 6 ppl then the guy who looted will get the full 4pp and the 4gp while the sp and cp would be divided with the rest of the grp becuse autosplit only splits each amount if the number of coins dropped is higher than the amount of ppl in the grp.

Who among you signed a disclaimer or contract after buying the CD(s), installing the game, and shelling out the funds to play EQ, that stated : "I, the under-signed, do hereby agree to forfeit any "loot" or opportunity to acquire said "loot" if another class may use it ( more frequently / more efficiently / etc. ) or benefit more from any number of it's functions based solely on the grounds of Class, Race, Gender, Level, or Current Fashion, of my character in comparison to any other character present."..?
Give over already. It's a Multi-player game, intended to sucker you into playing it so those that created, coded, and funded it, can retire, buy nice things in the Real World, and get their kids braces, clothing, and college tuitions.
All this aside... If it is more than a game to you, you should apply to SOE because if you work at working half as hard as you "work" at playing you're a shoe-in for employee of the month Every month, regardless what you do for a living and where. =D
Now, I have seen Fellspine spawned in the entry to one of the tunnels and then "x" amount of time later (time really does fly when you're having fun) someone called out that 'Fellspine was down' and 'Grats to "so-and-so" on their new belt' (insert muttered expletives here).
So in conclusion. It's NOT a static spawn. Chance has a hand here as it does almost everywhere else.
Game on...

Lol right. I have a 62 druid with uber gear and there is no way in **** this can be solo'd by a druid. It hits for 200+ and is immune to changes in run speed (no snare or root), and has very high MR. You MUST have tash or malo and slow, or enough tankage and healing to take him unslowed. A lvl 60 druid would get eaten in seconds. I did with my 63 chanter, 55 bard, and 61 druid and it was a close fight - druid and chanter died and bard lived with 20%. Getting him slowed took OOS with DotB equipped plus tash from chanter, then I had to mez him and cast slow about 5 times before it landed. Then during the fight my druid kept getting aggro cause bards aren't tanks :) I let my druid HP get a little too low, and he switched targets to druid and proceeded to bash the living snot out of me, I could not get any spells off cause he bashes so much even slowed. I kept bard on him and slowed him again with chanter. Chanter went down after druid, then it was bard's turn. He was at 6% bard was almost full. Took him down before I died. Tough fight.

I think we can do it, we have took down the anarcist down in acrylia caversn and he hits a **** of alot harder then you said about fellspine, the anarcist was hiting me from anywhere from 200dmg to 509 tops. Alot of 300's and yes i did die for that fight, but i was more of a dmg shield then anything, enjoying my new toy which u can see equiped in main hand of my warrior =)

IF you are down here taking this guy out, u all have better, and its probably going to your alts, or you are on a charity run helping out some guy with nothing. it is 34% haste so better than rbg and rbb (for haste).

No, let's start with Golden Efreeti Boots, what melee would call NBG?

And have you ever killed Cazic Thule? Would be a pretty retarded raid to give the Brain to a melee. Sure it's 100 hp, it's also FT IV, any melee that got that would be the laughing stock of the server.

besides, if you have the **** to take CT, id really hope your guild doesnt random on these things... id like to think anyone big enough to take CT would allocate based on need, or used a type of DKP to bid on an item. the brain really isnt a good example of NBG. the boots however only cost a couple K, and are really not worth arguing over imo. i would only roll on an item if no one in the group needed it :)

now as for the belt or the boots, well, they are 1 groupable. i did the boots once at 45 with a chanter and a cleric, and once at 53 with just a bst duo. this guy is next on my hit list, but i'm sure it doesnt require raid force to take him out, thus NBG only would really apply if everyone in the group agreed to it..

in a pickup group everyone should roll, and who cares if people sell something, what do you think that melees do when they get an upgrade? do you think its only casters in the auction channel selling stuff?

Wow, I am so tired of hearing the constant whining from anyone about NBG or Full Random. Everyone at one point will come across an item that their class can use. To say that 80-85% of the gear is generated towards one type is really shallow. Your just hunting in the wrong place. You choose to hunt where something you cant use drops, then you have noone to blame but yourself. I have both casters and melee for characters, so I know the pains of gathering equipment for both. Rather than sit around writing out sob stories and bickering how your getting the short end of the stick. Use this site, look up where something you want drops and go there. NBG and Full Random both work. You just have to state your opinion prior to loot dropping. I have no problem seeing a haste item going to a melee or a robe going to a caster. Sure the person in a month could get a new haste item or a new robe. Who cares? I bet you would have a big smile if something dropped you needed and without a thought it was awarded to you. Time to give some attitudes a check and become a bit more positive....after all...the items arent real....think about what you are actualy working yourself up about.

Complete BS.

You probably have a very selective memory. I have a 56 warrior, and NBG always in guild groups, and usually in pick-up's. spells drop all the time, and you NEVER hear a melee asking for em unless they have an alternate that needs. Even then, if someone in the group needs it they get first shot at it. Same with any of the caster usable stuff.

NBG is established before a group starts. You should always ask when you join a pick-up group how loot is distributed. If they say NBG, and thats not your style then find another group... period. Don't get all huffy if you didn't ask about NBG, and something nice drops which doesnt happen to fit your need.

We had a froglok bonecaster robe drop in seb and without a second thought it went to the enchanter, who needed it. He didn't ask about loot policy and was embarrassed that we would just give it to him. With the exception of him, the group was a guild group and thats how we operate. My friend gets pick-up groups in CT, and they roll on everything. You get to roll even if you already won something. as long as everyone knows what the policy is going in, no one is unhappy. Both styles work, but if you are against NBG, state that up front before something nice drops. That gives the group a chance to either adjust the policy or find someone else.

I agree with your opinion except on spells. The reason spells arnt argued over are the fact that you cant trade a spell from alt to alt, and you cant twink a char with it. Its on an ENTIRLY different playing field then something like armor and weapons, and to compare them with such is completely absurd. If you have to respond asking "Why, they have value" then your entirly missing the point.

I'm a 58 warrior.. and all I hear is whine whine whine, nothing about actually obtaining it.

Listen, I'd like to know how to get to this guy's spawn point and what his PHs are.

As far as who gets it, in a guild only group or raid, fine, NBG, but if it is a pickup group everyone rolls on it.

Yeah, you might be able to use it more than that caster in your group, but bull, they deserve a roll for their time too. Yeah, we have expensive equipment to buy, but don't they have expensive equipment AND spells to buy too?

It's people like those who are arguing here about it should be defaulted to them that give melees a bad name. Get a clue, without casters we wouldn't get far. You eventually get as much equipment as you put effort in for.

Get a clue and accept it.

Have killed him in two seperate spots. I would guess his placeholder is normal seahorse, because that is what we were killing a load of when we got him. Once was near waterfall, and other was in one of the tunnels (sorry i forget which).

I think the best thing to do is take a strong group 55+, or a couple groups 50+ and just start killing the seahorses. After a while you will see him on track. From what I have heard, people have found him near the waterfall alot... but personally I think thats because people farm flawless diamonds at the chute, and probably end up killing seahorses there along the way.

Bluntz N'Speed here. On Innoruuk this item is farmed, there are 5 - 10 people who know where Fellspine spawns. He can be solo'd by a 60 Necro or Druid, and duo'd with Healer/Melee combos. I myself dont know where it spawns, but when you see the same person selling Spiked Seahorse Belts every day, you should annoy him until he tells you then tell the rest of us.

Allot of you are talking about calculating haste and what not...who dropped it for you? Who is the mob...where is the spawn if any specific location? Is it static or what?

Please...enough with the NBG discussions...drop info would be MOST helpfull.

Tested this item last night and it came out as follows.

25% delay reduction (the number I prefer)
33% Speed increase (the number commonly refered to as haste)

Hello just an average shaman who would like this belt. Yea Im not a true meele class but I do meele from time to time. Rumors flying that haste lowers cast recovery time, should lower casting time.(probably just a rumor)

1) What drops this item?
2) Anyone have any suggestions on what lvl of groups can obtain this item?
3) Please no stories about some lvl 30 getting lucky and being involved. The extraordinary is fun, but I'm only an average shaman.

This belt doesn't have a sales price but I'll wager that it is comparable to CoF or RBB. Anyhow this is an expensive belt and I for one would like it or at least the opportunity to roll for it. As a shaman I solo 1/4 of the time Im on and this involves some meele. Heck when I P-lvl I end up meeleing sometimes to save the persons **** (sometimes my own) because they try to tackle to much. Dealing with a train of medium mobs can be dangerous even for higher levels expecially when you dont have your spells memed for combat. This item also has nice stats to boot. I already own a fbss that I use when I solo works out pretty good stacked with my haste spell. Anyhow I and ALL others should only roll on an item like this and offer an (insert haste item) for others to roll on if you win.
This is not some less then 5k item that should be given only to specific classes if they need it NBG. This is probably worth 50k+. That is a whole lot of money. I dont care who you are but any drop worth 50k+ is worth rolling on. Casters If you want to roll on something like this you better have a decent haste item to give back to be rolled on, heck the meele people should have a haste item to trade in also to try (and I stress try) and split up the wealth of an item like this. If I was lucky enought to win this belt I wouldn't need another belt for a very long time. Heck even if this was no drop I would still want it, this belt has to much other than the haste going for it.

This belt rocks I want one, you want one, and so does everyone else.

-The +4 to all stats is very nice
-The +1 add to all resists is definitly welcome
-25 HP/Mana great (almost capped wis anyways)
-This is a great upgrade for my fbss
-Trade potential to obtain very nice up grades.

And that is all I can say about that
Humbly yours an average shamam

You may now flame me if you like, because I can't spell or I have some wrong info or just because you hate Kats and Frogs.

This is not a flame, just a simple counter.

Now yes, you are a shaman, you solo 1/4 of the time, you PL occasionally for some extra platinums, etc. Very impressive, not many shamans can solo with spells and weapons, meaning you must have skill.

But the simple fact is, true or false, don't warriors, monks, rogues etc. group ALL the time? Don't they melee ALL the time? Don't they NEED the hp to keep them alive? Don't they NEED the 4 agility and stamina boost to help them stay alive? Don't they NEED the +1 to all resists to help them from resisting stuns, AoEs, fears, etc.?

You may use the belt occasionally, but melees will use it all the time. This is not a guilt trip, but if you kill this and the melee has say a Sash of the Dragonborn, wouldn't you feel kind of guilty for taking one of the best tradeable haste belts from him that he will always use until he can get ToV+ items? I know I sure would.

I am talking from experience, I have a 53 warrior, 60 shaman and 55 necromancer. My warrior needed the following things..

Why Stamina? It gives extra HP so the warrior can perform much better. Why Agility? It gives an extra chance to dodge the enemys attack and adds to AC. Why HP? It gives you a longer chnace of living when you are fighting red, yellow or even blue mobs that hit hard. Why AC? It reduces the amounts the enemy hits you for, lowering the load on clerics, shamans, druids, etc. and also helps you stay alive and fight more efficently.

Now for my shaman, I had two main concerns.

Why wisdom? The odvious, it gives you mana, and mana equals dots, heals, spells, debuffs, buffs, etc. Why HP? If you get aggro'd, attacked, summoned, etc. it helps you to stay alive, reducing the experience losses, the amount you must heal yourself. It also helps you when using the popular "Cannibalize" line of spells.

Mana really wasn't a concern for me in higher level gaming, because most items I obtained with HP came with mana and AC, covering those fields. If I was in a group killing Fellspine, even if I had horrible equiptment like Rune Etched planar (note I am 60) I would leave the rolloing competition. Simply because I know a tank would use this 10x more as me and I would probably end up selling it.

I did kill Fellspine once with my shaman, but I was in ssra/tov loot and didn't need it. We had the following:

Shaman (me)
Magician (60, epicced, braided cinch cord)

We succesfully killed Fellspine. The roll was up, I retracted from roll, cleric did, but the magician did not.

They randomed 0 1000.

Warrior #1 rolled 543
Warrior #2 rolled 756
Paladin rolled 984
Magician rolled 998

The magician received the belt, warriors and paladin left in utter frusturation and discontent that they just lost possibly one of the best items they'd get to a magician who had his epic and was level sixty.

Five days later, in the auction channel, this was auctioned.

<name taken out> tells auction1: WTS Spiked Seahorse Hide BELT! AC+10 ALL STATS+4 ALL RESISTS+4 hp/mana+25 Effect: HASTE! 60k.

I told him WHY are you selling that, two needy warriors and a paladin should have gotten a fair roll for that.

He said, I used it, but then I went on a raid and got a better belt. Now from the start, I knew this would happen, there was no doubt in my mind.

He had joined a very good guild and had gotten a Circlet of Smoke from SSRA.

The next thing you know, the auction erupted into an enermous fight, the warriors and paladin was on and was literally attacking the magician, most of the auction channel joined in the attack. Now, not saying this would happen to you, but, when you roll for this, really think, "wouldn't something that is maybe a LITTLE harder benefit me more, like a Bone-Clasped Girdle?"

He did end up selling it, but was forced by his guild to distribute 20k to the two warriors and the paladin as a apology.

Just telling you a little story, if you are not a melee, please consider ALL the possibilites that are gaven to you before rolling on this item.

Cool, about time a caster got his fair share. NBG is crap, only screamed by melees. In a guild, yeah its great, when you are surrounded by your friends and people you trust. In a pick-up group, half of the melees out there are secondary characters or high-leveled twinks at this point in the game (3-4years after EQ release?), and I sure as **** am not going to sit there and spend my valuable time equipping someone's twink.
yes I know there are non-twinks out there that need good equip, so let them join a guild and EARN it like I and the rest of my friends/guildees did. Don't expect complete strangers to help equip your character with some of the best equipment in the game (like this belt). Either keep camping it until you win the roll, or camp something else, sell it and buy this. But for god sakes, STOP THE NBG WHINING!

Once your STA is over 100, having more doesn't improve your warrior's ability anymore.

Does improve his hitpoints, though.

I'm a 60 shaman also, and wouldn't roll on this in a group of guildies if someone needed the belt, but in a casual group of strangers, NBG is a joke at the expense of too many people. Your story of the magician auctioning the belt is a much smaller echo of all the times melees demand drops they "need" and then you see THEM selling them the next day. Frankly, in a group of strangers, you don't know what anybody "needs" at all -- but you can be almost sure at least some of them will be bull*ing you. Guildies or a group of friends, it's different. still have to consider that all the melees will be rolling on 10x the items everyone else does, because that's how EQ drops work. Casters are generally needed, but get nada. Sooner or later, melees too have to hold back the greed and let somebody else get something.

After all, the caster who buys a nice hat with a melee item he sells is upgrading no less than the melee who would use the same item. An upgrade is an upgrade, and if you're worth inviting along, you're worth rewarding.

That's why NBG is silly among strangers. Considering NBG will outfit all your melees in 1/10th the time you outfit any non-melees, it's a bit silly in guild groups too, but at least you improve the guild, so you're not just throwing the drops away.

I have to disagree with this, for one, items like this are almost impossible for most melee to get their hands on, for me at least I always try to get everyone a fair share of stuff, but with a item like this, NBG should be manditory, most people dont have a haste item thats 33% let alone 25%, and then the stats on it just make this a very nice item that would last for a very very long time. NBG for stuff like RBG and this belt, but then the rest go ahead and gravyee. And really, myself I have gotten almost nothing to NBG for what I use now, because every time I do see something I would use drop, I've had a caster win it (RBG to a mage and shaman, leaving the melee's with nothing).
Another thing really to point out is that melee have more stats they need to get up, casters generally have 2 or 3. As with my paladin, I have almost every stat exept int and cha, and as you can expect, I dont even have my stats nearly close to maxed, and my gear is preatty good for my level. Stuff like this should be NBG, just my opinion on it.

NBG is not crap nor is always appropriate

Lvl 50 warr here and what am i doing to get this? I grab friends and plan to camp it. I need this (most of my stuff sucks and i need a haste item, most haste items i lose other stats on this and i cant afford to but one (most play i ever saw was 2k and i honestly bought someones account to upgrade my armour and sold off stuff i didnt need) Items i really want be researching here i either go out and buy or i plan to camp it. let them know first drop of x item is mine or if i join a pickup group i see if i can claim it when i join "hey im really heer for one of these if it drops can i just grab it" most of the time its okay or maybe soandso needs the same thing ya can get the second.

The plan i have for this invites guildies and guild allies for this with the idea after my drop open roll for everyone else once through. if we get lucky and get more than 6 (ya right) we drop them off on my alts on second account and split them later (druid ports to alt gives hers - and gates back to loot) if no one wants to wear tossed up to the bazaar and we split it later

I can argue both sides here

A) NBG shouldnt be done on a pickup group for a 50k+ item. period. items like this are able to benefit all (some better then others yes) no drop items should be looked at all classes that its an upgrade for (linking now helps this) non no drop if ya didnt know it was there and didnt reserve it ahead of time open roll (as a warrior i often pass if i know ill just sell it) if no one needs its rolled on butr most of these are just a few hundred plat the rest is vendor fodder. I honestly havnt seen an organized loot since east commons at the orc camps. I also tend to ask for items hey mind if i snag that for an alt sometimes offer to trade other items i looted (did this often when twinking an alt in bronze armour)

B) NBG is really a guild only type of rule the rest is courtesy when in groups if im in group and caster wants ill let him have it otherwise open roll. If Tome pages drop and chasnter in group i automatically turn over to chanter if not ill ask for them one of my alts is a chanter and another is the guild mule for Tome pages. I tell them they dont mind and if someone else plays a chanter alt we work out something (ussually just goes to higher level chanter.

personally i believe this is best for a paladin, ranger, beastlord or shadow knight - next warriors rogues and monks - then wis casters - then int casters - based on most potential use. Take away haste and this almost reverses take away mana and it mixes it up. but take away ONE these stats and the argument wouldnt happen as heated. either way it has ALL these stats and makes it worth mondo plat and for that reason would be open roll (granted if i saw an item like this drop and my warrior didnt get it id be ranting in guild chat more out of dissapointment then anger). personally i dont know anyone rich and anything over a 1k pc drop i would desire open roll. imagine the reaction if this had reagent conservation or improved healing instead of or even stacked with - imagine the whole differnt arguments. I realized i just probably both agreed with and dissagreed with everyone here but thats the way i am.

Too each his own in this case, since i bought my account for items (which still left me out in the equipment area as i look around at all the twinks in game)everything else was specifically quested or bought (and still ranks low) and i get laughed at for it , like in grade school and being the only one without nikes. I once one a roll on an item on a hate raid bu there was only one other warr that could use so it was a roll of two. basically know what your getting into ahead of time (both loot and group rules) and most of all, Just Have Fun

I don't mean to offend anyone, but I wholeheartedly agree with rolling on everything worth a lot of pp in pickup groups. Countless times have I been in groups where there has been a nice drop and I thought to myself wow, that would go for quite a bit of pp if I won a roll on it and sold it. I would finally be able to afford my <insert uber item>. I, however, am a fairly nice guy, and when I heard the <insert melee class> in the group needed it to upgrade his equipment, I refrained from rolling. More often than not it seems that I see the same person selling the item the next day, or even a few hours later. My main chars are casters, and with the exception of no drop items, there really hasn't been anything of much worth that has dropped and been given to me. In fact, I believe all my non-no drop items have been boughten. Melees have it far easier in groups as far as drops go. Yes, they have more stats to upgrade, but through my experiences with melee classes (and yes I play them too) they are greedy as far as loot goes, at least in pickup groups. As soon as a mob is dropped, it seems that every melee is jumping on it for loot while the casters are sitting there doing their job, medding so that they will have mana to keep the pulling. Don't get me wrong and all, melees are very important, but you need to remember all classes bring something to the table, and should be rewarded for their hard work. One question... in your pickup groups, who are the ones determining when the next pull should be? I don't know about you, but it is usually the healer and the chanter. Next time you are in a group, please don't just jump on every dropped mob, give the casters a chance for some loot, after all, they are keeping your group moving, and isn't that what everyone wants? Oh, and one other thing... autosplit. I particuarly don't like it. Sure, it splits the money evenly between everyone in the party right? WRONG. What if the loot consists of a measly 4pp 4 gp 8 sp and 12cp just as an example. With autosplit on, whoever loots is going to get 1pp 1 gp 2sp and 2cp while the last person to get the split is going to end up with 1sp and 2cp. Whats the big deal right? 1pp isn't that much, but add that up over hundreds of mobs, and it begins to become a big deal. Basically this has just been a big rant, but please, remember your casters, even if it is an uber item, or whatever. If it isn't among friends or guild, NBG is crap. Throw it out the window and try to be a little more fair. Your casters will appreciate it, and will probably seek you out to group with later if you respect them, and we all know how often we are looking for a cleric or chanter in a good pickup group...

all right, rant over

NezzarMagician does GBN, so PlayerA decides to.
PlayerA does GBN, so PlayerB decides to.
PlayerB does GBN, so NezzarMagician loses roll on nice robe to a warrior, gets ******* and decides that he's glad he did GBN so he won something instead of PlayerB way back when.

How ridiculous ;P

B.S. I'm tired of people saying I can't roll on something because it has haste and zero weight.
Basically KMA.

The stats are just about even for every class to want this. I guess us casters are just lucky that Tolj's robe isn't all/all or none of us would be able to wear it because it has Haste.

This has wis, int, mana, hp, and just about every stat. It'd be good for any class including casters and melee and hybrids.

I hate the crap it's best for me so you can't have it. Get out of the tunnel vision of me, me, me and look around you. There are others playing the game too.

Talk about BS. Would this thing be worth a tenth as much of it didn't have haste?

If the only reason you're rolling on something is to sell it, and if there is ANYONE in the group who would actually use it, then you're really an antisocial SOB to be ******** over someone that bad.

I frequently am in groups killing mobs just for their spell drops (they don't drop anything else). Perhaps the next time a nice 50+ wizard spell drops I should demand to be in the roll because I could sell it for some nice cash so I can build up enough of a stash to buy this thing from some wizard.

As for which class could use this particular item, well any class that does its damage by melee should be entitled to roll on it.

#Fistanidu, Posted: Mar 09 2002 at 4:02 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why is it so bad to sell something, its not like you are destroying the item it does goto someone that will use it. If a melee wins the item how do I know they are not going to sell, I mean there are 100s of very very valuable haste items out there that casters are unfairly excluded from. I have alts that can also use it, whats wrong with that. Wheather I sell it or give it to an alt really isn't any of your business.

This is a response to everything people have posted in this thread, not just Fistanidu.

The problem with selling something instead of letting a person in the group use it is that not everyone can afford to buy things. I myself hardly win rolls at all, and I don't ninja loot or anything; as a warrior I'm none too good at soloing. Thus, I have very little cash, and it has taken me months to build up enough cash to buy some decent armor (which I haven't yet), because I lose the rolls; often to greedy casters.

There are not hundreds of valuable haste items out there; it is quite difficult to obtain a haste item that's worthwhile what with FBSS being nerfed.

Also, I must say that priests and casters are just as much nothing without a tank to take the damage for them, unless you have the luck to find an AE group. What do you play? A mage? Druid? Wizard? Cleric? Enchanter? If you can tank a critter that quads for 400+, then I suppose melees are nothing without priests or casters.

Now I might also point out that everyone is saying that they won't do Need Before Greed because other people aren't. Well if you aren't, then neither will they, and neither will others, and it's stupid. People are trying to justify Greed Before Need, which is ridiculous.

Now just imagine yourself in the situation that I have been in, and by the way even though I remember who the people are I don't hold grudges against them.

"First time in KC; pretty exciting, DL gets pretty boring. I walk in, and after a little while find myself in the Right Moat group. Mind you, I've never been to KC before.
So, I pull a few things, and the rogue tells me that the captain group got whiped out, and that i should pull the captain. I don't even know what captain is, but I follow the terse directions up and pull the captain. Bring him back, no adds, we start fighting.
I didn't know this at the time because I wasn't familiar with where everything spawns, but a monk had run into hands which wasn't camped, runs it over to Right Moat and FDs it on us. I lay a hit on each of the adds to get aggro on me, damage shield does the rest of the aggro holding, while everyone beats on the captain. I die, they evac, I get rezzed.

Now you can imagine my confusion, when I pulled captain which seemed to me an ordinary enough mob and end up with a monk FDing a train onto us. I get rezzed, and my group starts talking about Cobalt Gauntlets. I didnt even know what they are, but am totally amazed by how much AC they had. The shammy says that as the only warrior and also having died for them they should just give them to me. The casters complain thatthey don't get any loot drops here. The shammy says that they shouldn't be hunting there then if they want drops, but the shammy isn't holding the gauntlets; they roll, the cleric wins, the shammy starts criticizing them; 5 minutes later the group left except for me and the shammy. This entire time I am totally overwhelmed by all the new stuff, though I remember it vividly.
Sometimes I tell other people about this, and they seem to be even madder about it than I ever was. One of my friends said that he would've blacklisted everyone that went GBN, and yet last week, which is about three months later, I'm grouping with the cleric who won the gauntlets on my enchanter, and we barely manage to take a train in Left Courtyard. Would he have lived without my mezzes and charms, if I had blacklisted him? Yeah right! Did *I* even live with my mezzes and charms? No, I died, and so what? I got rezzed and we got the exp back.

If you sell a big-ticket item instead of letting someone who can use have it, you increase your own cash. The item then ends up in the hands of someone who had cash, and that cash was obtained by selling items instead of giving it to someone who could use it. Take a look at yourself, and if you think that greed like that sounds like a wonderful idea, then you are a fool, and should be ashamed about asking other people for help even when you need it because you haven't given back to other people.

The short of it: This whole discussion is ridiculous, if only people would think about the consequences, even in just a game...

Hehe Just read this. Thank god you dont play on my server. Its obvious you are in an Uber guild. In guild items are 'given' to the appropriate class and so on and so forth, mostly based on points or levels or NBG in your guild. Why should it be any different outside of guild? I can tell you this, i have had people in groups over the years that have been greedy SOB's and eventually they either quit their character or just plain vanished. Once word gets out that you are not a team player, you become less and less likely to get any where after 50 because no one will group with you or assist you. On the other hand there are those that hit 40 and started to realize that you know what ? its not all about the loot :P you help people and they remember that and when you need it they will come if not engaged in something.

I am Guilded but i can look on my friends list and find 5 to 6 people at anytime (except 4 am) who will come help me do something. And these are people from days gone by that remember me or who i still group with occaisionaly. My point is this, if you wanna go far in this game and by far i mean past 55 and guilded or past 55 and have enough friends to be a virtual guild, then you better learn that kindness pays of in the end. And for those of you about to jump in and say that oh i can do whatever i need with guild and still just loot whatever the %^&$ i want, well buddy enjoy your guild :P )) cause i wouldnt want to be in it or allied with it. If its not going to benefit you beyond some fake money or twinking an alt then let the appropriate class roll on it :) it wont kill you to wait till something more along your classes line comes along.

Either that or start hunting in a place that drops your items. Other then that i repeat that thank GOD you are not on my server. I wouldnt want anything to do with an Imaginary scrooge :P it is after all a game. Dont get so worked up about it :P it shows what your most likely like in real life. Sitting at home in your parents basement playing 18 hours 7 days a week because you got no friends. :P

If that's really your attitude, then don't whine about being screwed by some melee who happens to have won the roll on a rare drop spell. I myself NEVER sell drop spells, if I pick one up, I hold it until I find a guildy or friend who needs it. And if I can't--I find an caster of the appropriate level and make their day. It can work just fine, and makes the game better for everyone.

P.S. If you decide not to roll on an item you can't use to favor those who can, I'm sure going to be a lot more willing to accompany you to those camps where your stuff drops too.

The real issue with casters is that VI has left them hanging regarding spell improvements or equipment that really does anything. Casters from Necros to Shaman have nothing to look forward to once you get 200+ or even 255 wis/int. All you get is a little more mana but your spells all still do the same thing. Big deal. Where are the items that let you cast faster, nuke for more damage or heal better? How come spells are so **** rare that a leveling caster is looking to pay out the *** just to be able to do something with the new level. 40k+ for a spell?!?! It's totally unfair.
But even though it sucks that some jerk is gonna rip me off for spells I would still probably let this be awarded to one of the melee in my group.

Those would be focus items. Apparently rentable, mob-dropped focuses will be introduced with PoP, but for now your friendly local mage should be able to summon you some for a small donation.
Monk Only Item?

Ummm.. I've never played a Monk but I do know a few and...

Where as it's my opinion that decisions on who gets what belong with the group that gets the items (Guild Edict, NBG, FFA, etc...), anyone who thinks that this item is a monk only item due to the 0.0 weight should probably ask a monk how important that weight difference is between this item and the othe monk usable items.

There are only 3 monk usable haste items with weight greater than 1.

Cloak of Pleanty (1.5)
Lesser Guard of Haste (3.2)
Greater Guard of Haste (3.5)

12 items have 0.0 weight, 14 at 0.1, 4 at 0.5, etc...

The zone this drops in is not a kiddy playland. Monks who could get to this loot would be in their 50's or 60th level so the stats and % haste effect would be more of a factor in determining who gets this than the 0.0 weight. (I mean what.. Don't loot that ring Mr. Monk -- You'll go over limit due to the 0.1 weight! <grin>).

It would be nice to hear from a higher level Monk on these subjects though -- one that DOES raids of this nature insteand of the sub 50 folks that keep posting "wow! 0.0 must go to a Monk!".

Yeah, weight is important to a monk in a special way but look at the whole picture before jumping on the weight and usability to claim class A, B or C should get the item.

Ciao for now,

The easiest way to figure out delay reduction haste % from attack increase haste % is to multiply the attack increase % by .85. If you take 33%, which is the number you got from attack rate testing and multiply it by .85 you get 28%, which is the same as you got fighting Slate and the dorfs. For those of you who don't know, 99% of he time when a haste % is mentioned, it's not the delay reduction. A CoF is NOT 36% delay reduction, it's more like 31%. So now you can be better informed if someone tries to sell you a haste item and they tell you it reduces delay by such and such, they are probably either mis informed or trying to sqeeze more plat from you.

There's something a lot of people don't seem to understand. Most of the high end items in the game weigh nothing or near nothing. Which means that monks don't get the right away on something just because it weighs 0.0. While melee's can use all of the stats on this belt, do you really want the cleric in your group to have 300 AC while you are fighting high end mobs? The fact is this item is ALL/ALL, which means that it was intended for everyone.

Now the question remains, what drops it?

Haste items are much more rare than looking for a belt that has AC 10 . If AC is your big factor, go get you a straw spun belt! It's AC 10, much more common, and you're not depriving a tank of a great haste item! As far as the other additions, I have to admit, they are good, but not as good as 34 percent haste item. Please, casters and priests, don't attempt to roll on this item saying that you want it for the AC or other stat bonuses, cuz I know you're going to move it over to your twink or sell it the first chance you get. (What a waste).

Bard epic is a group buff including 55 percent haste. Ohh and the neverending "who should loot this" discussion that plagues these boards needs to stop. Thats decided by your guild not here. All you are doing is wasting keystrokes.

what classes should get high end haste items and why

rangers, no because at 50 they can get epic with haste pretty easily specially if in guild who can get items such as COF, RBB, cloak of piety ...

rogues, same as rangers

warriors, yes because no haste in epic

shadowknights, yes because no haste in epic

paladins, yes because no haste in epic

bards, yes because no haste in epic

int and wis casters, **** no ! why the f*ck anyone would waste 30% + haste on someone who uses it maybe once in month when he's FM and bored ?

Magelo Eq Items shows it at 34%, so your 33.2% calculation was very accurate.
#Nanamar, Posted: Aug 19 2001 at 9:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I play a mage and um I just checked this up this has like better stats for casters than anything from a mob lower than like 60 so I think it should be ok for a caster to get it too, I mean come on what kind of melee doesn't have a haste item Verant has haste on like 90% of the highest level stuff so y not let a caster have this, put on like a rod of annihilation and a caster can deal out 100+ hits easliy too...
RE: Um just caster POV
# Aug 28 2001 at 12:02 PM Rating: Decent
I half agree about the caster item part. However, your apaisal of it's melee value is off. This is because your weapon skill will cap at 110 and your ATK will probably be capped at under 550. Therefore, you will miss about 90% of the time even on mobs 45+. I can just never see a high level caster meleeing anything close to blue.

However, for amusment, I have done a fair amount of damage and self-healing using a combination of a procing weapon like the staff of writhing (48 DD) and vampiric embrace (which procs for a 65 point lifetap at my level). However, even with 180 DEX from buffs, the proc was too infrequent to make it more valuable than the benefits of meditating durring the fight and not loosing life from getting occasional hits.

Ok, been playing with this belt all last night to try to come up with the haste %. By using a shield in offhand and a weapon in mainhand, and as a bard who cannot double attack. I hit attack with nothing targeted with log on, and i timed how many swings it attempted in 10min without belt, then retried with belt on. From this info after 5different trials (ya i enjoy wasting time, its a hobby) i came out at an avg that Unhasted in 10min i did 247 swings, and hasted i did 329 swings.

329-247= 82
82/247= .3319838057
.3319838057*100= 33.19838057

Now, my friend, using the idea from verants way of doing it, that haste is not about time, but rather the % increase in damage...he and i both with belts fought mobs that were just barely green or blue to us...for me i did Seargant slate in ecom, and he did the lvl 35 dwarves in butcherblock...we figured that all Slates that spawn would have about same hp, as the d0rfs would have the same as the d0rf when the respawn. So, we timed the battles, both with shields and as bards so theres no double attack involved. And we took 10fights done with belt, 10without and tested the dmg increase. From the avg of the results from both of the haste=dmg not time tests, we came up with it being 28.5%.

So.... if you avg out the statistics from the 2 types of tests done, you come up with the belt being 30.84919028% haste according to our data.

In so BELT IS ABOUT 31% HASTE for those who just skipped all the details i spouted off.

Celestial fists stacks with all other hastes in the game. Including: item haste, spell haste, song haste, and the 100 fists disc. Although, it will cap at 100 percent haste no matter what combination you have. I hope this helps.
The word of the day is:

RE: CF stacks with everything
# Dec 18 2001 at 5:55 AM Rating: Default
No it doesn't.

The haste part of the effect only stacks with item haste, not song or spell haste.
If a monk with CFs has a greater haste spell cast upon him, he will have the haste from that spell and the attack and ac bonuses from the CFs.

That is only partially correct, they did fix CF, but only in the manner of spell with which it stacked.
When Spells are made they have certain categories they belong to, and thus higher versions overwrite others, and similar spells cannot be stacked, ie spells that give illusions along with other stats will not stack with other illusion spells (usually).
CF has other benefits than just haste, and it could not stack with many other buffs. So when they improved the game to have essentially more categories, they made CF a stand alone buff.
The effects from the CF stack with everything else, EXCEPT the haste effect. This is something calculated AFTER spell effect stacking issues; much like wearing a CoF and a Spiked seahorse belt: you gain all the stat increases, but only highest haste %.
One last thing, Song effects and Spell effects are considered the same when regarding stacking. Many songs were not working properly if certain buffs were on until they were fixed, and only the highest haste from any song or spell effect will apply... with one exception. Bards were given high level low haste (5% or so) songs that stack with any other haste... another benefit to the long ago improved stacking system.

so what is the haste % on it i heard 30% if so that pretty hard core. but why would casters want this item? the +'s it has ain't that much and for casters there is better out there. This item would prolly be best for the warriors(paly's and sk's to but not sure if there epic's are hasted)
Cause once rogues and rangers get there epic's which are hasted to 40% this belt lose's a lot of purpose cause yes the stats are nice LITTLE boost but there are belts with higher ac(which is king) for the people's who's epics are hasted. Now once a warrior gets this he/she will be more likely to use it for longer due to the fact the warrior epic is not hasted. What is the % of haste on the RBG?(40%?)

"Are you insulted, angry, or even more bewildered then before?Good! That was always your purpose! You're still playing your part brilliantly. After all you were the star of the show all along"
"Are you insulted, angry, or even more bewilderd then befor? Good!that was your purpose all along!"
#Notiturit, Posted: Jul 15 2001 at 7:54 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Has anyone compared or found any info comparing the haste on this to CoF, RBB, RBG, Siblisian berserker cloak? I'm looking for accurate data not guessing please.
