This is rewarded directly from the quest Monk Test of Fists. I gather from other comments that you can also obtain it by turning in the old reward from the Test, Wu's Tranquil Fist.

Ok folks, here's the dealie yo:

Result of a quest after talking to the man himself, mastah wu.
This is very similar to the progression of other quests, for example, Regal Band of Bathezid, which requires you to first do the quest for the Di'zok Signet of Service. As you can see, the sub quest isn't bad, much like Wu's Tranquil Fist that is the first part of this, found in Plane of Sky. For all you ******* retards that like to flame each other about your big bad bullsh:t kick, backstab, butt dart, or what not, here's the quest that starts it: Monk Test of Fists in Plane of Sky. You know, that wasn't too ******* hard people. What's sad is all you guys who flame do nothing to help bring knowledge to the items or quests, instead rely on others to figure it out and spoon feed you the info while you ***** and whine and flame everyone else. you suck. period. end of story. Go level your main past lvl 10, ditch your rusty halberd, meet people, grow past puberty, learn some stuff, see the world of EQ... THEN come post here.

Anyways, to those that aren't flaming everyone, I hope it helped. That quest above is the first quest to do in order to get these fists, these are now (hopefully) fixed, as I heard the quest was broken for a while (as many other things in EQ, but we love it anyways) so hopefully you can complete now. Good luck, talk to Wu, and hope you all are stayin safe in Norrath and beyond.

Hey if you would take the time to read and research an item you would see that this isn't a drop item but a QUEST ITEM. So open your eyes and start looking for the quest not the drop spot. I for one don't like sorting through thread after thread of posts from people that don't know how to read or go and try to find the info without leaving Stupid posts. Look if it says it is a drop item then ask "Where does this drop?" but if it says Quest item then ask "Hey does anyone know where the quest begins or have any info on this quest?"

WHERE IT DROPPED
# Jul 22 2001 at 7:36 PM Rating: Excellent
Just so you guys know, it was a screwup in the loot tables and dropped in Lfay off one of the common faeries (yes, a common faerie). Only dropped once to my knowledge on Tunare, and it rotted because there were no monks in the zone to loot it.
RE: WHERE IT DROPPED
# Sep 03 2001 at 5:49 AM Rating: Decent
Just so YOU know, it wasnt from Faeries it was from the Imps that replaced them for a week long event (specifically the guardian imps).
And the loot table ***** up was quite probably a rumour. In all likelihood these were meant to be there.
Unfortunately mostly twinks got them =( people logging on alts to loot after their main had killed.
I managed to get a pair for my monk though. They hit for 95s notmally and 180s with inner flame.

Just one idea to add about weapons or items used by monks..... why not have an item or weapon with a right-clickable affect such as the mem-blur? Maybe a proc or something would be a change in the way hate is always targetted towards the monks first. It may sound dumb but it would be something I consider new to the game and perhaps viable. Anything -I guess- like this would be a step-up from verant in showing their consideration and it would also give monks another method or tool to help them reduce the HATE it seems they have been getting both from the mobs in-game and the players alike....

One Rule: roll it up however ya want, smoke it for however long ya want, turn it around to look at it like ya always do....but #$%*in make sure ya pass tha $#!% around so everybody gets his damned turn too. (excerpt taken from chapter 52, page 154, paragraph 3 of the Morality Under A Microscope book given to me by the belated RaodWalk Whino....who was a great man in many a great cities.

It's a balancing issue. The three non-plate melees each have a way to avoid agro. Rogues can evade. Rangers can jolt. Monks can feign. All of these have disadvantages.

You'll also notice that classes have their own usual line of weapon procs. Monk weapons tend to proc DDs and stuns. Ranger weapons proc DDs, ranger spells and (at least two) slows. Rogue weapons, I don't know. I think they tend to proc necro spells.

BTW, this is a plane of air quest. you should be able to find it by going to that zones quest list.

Its actually a thing Verant keeps in mind, a Monk that proc'd a memblur with his weapons would be overpowered as they see it. The monk can hit with virtual impunity, as long as its not resisted...

As it stands, their Flying Kick that can do upwards of 200 damage wont stun, but a Warriors lowly 5 damage kick to the shins will...

Its merely a balancing thing.

actually kicks don't stun from warriors or monks but warriors do get bash and/or slam.

I wonder on the damage from flying kick he posted also...

now ranger jolt as maybe a proc on a monk weapon would be good or even as a right click item proc with some sort of cast time but then again if you want a memblur there is always feign death...doh!

Warriors once past 55 can stun with a kick, this was added to help the smaller race warriors who lacked the ability to stun.

a monk cannot Flying Kick for 200 without using a /disc

You're obviously retarded, Renaan. My main on sol ro is a 57 Monk and I've kicked for over 200 without /disc many times. Highest being (239). Of course I had shammy buffs, but a kick over 200 without /disc is very possible.

Okay Azlino, it's time to use your inside voice. We can read just fine without you yelling, okay? And the people posting here are posting off of in game experiences and sometimes heresay. Don't be so quick to curse and yell at someone for being a "newbie" if they're just relaying how things have worked in their experience of playing. And don't put yourself on a pedastle, okay? "us higher people" doesn't mean you're supposed to have a superiority complex. Get off your high horse and have fun, damnit.

As for the mem blur idea: Assuming it held on the mob, it'd work, however I agree that it'd likely overpower the monk. And the only reason a mob nails the enchanter when they try mem blur is because it was resisted or didn't take, hence why they get pounded on. Us monks would have to deal with that side effect as well if we got a proc/ability similar to mem blur. That's the way it is. Take your death, await your rez, and keep playing.

And please, Azlino, take a chill pill man. Threatening the posters of the board because you don't like an idea is childish, stupid, and just plain psychotic. Take your meds, talk to your shrink, and come back when you're all better.

The way I see it that wouldn't work at all. The mob would get memblurred and all the taunting the war did would go away and since the monk would immediatly be hitting more the mob wuold turn on the monk til the tank could regain aggro. Then if, right after the memblur procced, a heal was landed or anything was cast on the mob it would go right after the caster. So I dotn see how that would help... Its a nice wep here though. Are you guys positive that its a new reward from the PoA test? Anyone done it that can confirm? Dont wanna haul guild up there and then get the old crappy one.

On the server i come from,Druzzil ro , we very nearly have as many monks as we do warriors and at the high end game the warriors have simply become damage dealers because there is no way they can taunt the mobs off the monks. When you watch a fear raid the warriors never need healing since they are never hit... verant needs to take a look at this it is not well balanced IMHO.
RE: OMG...
# Jul 07 2001 at 6:27 PM Rating: Decent
I hate to say it but any monk that can't keep his hate down deserves what he gets, ah who am I kidding I don't hate to say that. Every class has things that **** off the mob and put them in the line of fire if used injudiciously, wizards overnuke, clerics over heal, what ever and the mob ends up on them, and trust me for all your whining a wizard is far less capable of absorbing damage than you. How do they get around this you ask? Well like any smart character they understand how hate works, they understand that the warrior needs to build up a bit first before they go nuking something. In the clerics case I hope he understands that having the tank start the battle in full health is far preferable to healing early, and that waiting as long as possible to heal is the best idea. The point is that all these classes learn how to deal with this, stop whining and follow their example ok?
RE: OMG...
# Aug 25 2001 at 5:16 PM Rating: Good
OK.
Now go play a monk to 50+ and try again.
Give the warrior a head start of 20 seconds.
Join the fray and see where you end up.

Hello? Brain? are you there?
Monks are damage dealers, have always been, and will always be.
Rogues have Evade, monks have FD. Bad thing is, rogues lose maybe 0.2 sec while evading, monks lose 3.0+ secs feigning and getting up, IF and ONLY IF FD WORKS! as of now, it's broken as ******* and if someone else is beating on your mob yur FD will NOT WORK!

Get a clue before you post mindless ****.
RE: OMG...
# Jul 02 2001 at 11:24 AM Rating: Default
<stops to think about taunting>

Imagine with me, if you will.

You're faced by two opponents. A fight starts. One is hitting you with a large sword, or maybe two swords and screaming in your face saying "c'mon sucka, hit me" while the other is beating the crap out of you 16 different ways before the giant ogre thing has finished his sentance. Who ya gonna kill?

As a monk I know I'm going to get agro'd far more than the tank of the group and I suck it up and hope that I have a good cleric behind me and if not then I hope that FD works to get that heal spell on me.

It makes sense to me that a warrior has a difficult, or near impossible time taunting off of a monk, everyone should be used to this by now. The monks have accepted their fate, so should you.

RE: OMG...
# Jul 02 2001 at 11:41 AM Rating: Default
But thats not the way it should be, sure we can accept the fate that verant's lack of brains has chosen for us but it shouldn't be that way. Monks are great as they are, warriors in the other hand need a little more damage output, never outdamaging a monk or a rogue from behind but close enough to be able to taunt the mob off them. Higher chances of double attacks and dual wields will suffice, that or an increased accuracy rate when using a damaging 2 hander.
RE: OMG...
# Jul 03 2001 at 3:18 PM Rating: Decent
Actually, Monks just need to learn how to regulate their Hate is all. Judicious use of the Feign Death skill even when not exaclty necessary does wonders to lessen the Monk's hate. Rogues use Evade for this same purpose.

Learn how to fight smart, don't just hit Auto-Attack and pound on your Special Attack Hotkeys and whine that Verant has done something wrong again when you get yourself killed.
RE: OMG...
# Aug 25 2001 at 5:21 PM Rating: Decent
>Judicious use of the Feign Death skill

Why don't you just go buy a clue. FD is broken. If a monk is on the hatelist and feigns, the mobs will not believe the FD.

Try to think before you post. Thanks.

Note that until Verant fixes the group FD bug you can't always use feign to control aggro. In a group, if a mob is attacking you and someone else is attacking the mob, often successful feigns will do absolutely nothing. If one successful feign doesn't help then usually repeated attempts will not work either.
I read on monkly-business an easy way to reproduce this bug, but couldn't find it. I think it involved going to LOIO, hitting a goblin then running to a sarnak and feigning so that the goblin attacks the sarnak...then standing up, fighting the goblin until it starts attacking you, and trying to feign again.
RE: OMG...
# Jul 03 2001 at 8:21 PM Rating: Good
Beat me to it, however, make sure you aren't throwing FD around either.. Problem there is that it completely wipes you from the hatelist... Take a few hits then drop to floor holding that bruised pinky of yours.... It might just buy that cleric those crucial extra seconds of medding before he has to cast complete heal on the warrior.

As a side note.. Enchanters, this is partially your job too, you have a spell that you got early named memblur... USE IT...there is no reason that tanks should work for 10 seconds to get a mob off you, just memblur it and one hit will take the agro off you... I do it all the time with atone.

This game is not about what the blatant things verant gives you, it's about what combinations of it you use and when you use it.. This isn't point-and-shoot quake.... it's thinking.... enjoy. ;-D

There are a couple other problems with Mem Blur.

Mem Blur is very unreliable. A successful blur on 50+ mobs may take over 6 casts. The recast time isnt very good either. If I really need a mem blur (aggroed a mob with unwanted faction), I will load up the Memory Blur and Mind Wipe quick and cast away on a mob. This usually will take about 3 to 4 rounds of casting both spells with a tank standing there taking damage and not attacking.

Mem blur uses a spell slot. On raids or if you have a shaman in your group that isnt TOO much of a problem but even in those cases there are more usefull spells that can and should be loaded.

So how should you deal with aggro? Use root. Yeah - I know its a PITA keeping root on while everyone is beating somethings brains in but try it sometime and see how easy it is for the tank to keep aggro. Added benifits include the mob wont summon casters if rooted. Someone in the group should have room to load a root spell. Just make it their job to have root ALWAYS on the mob if aggro is a problem.
RE: OMG...
# Aug 04 2001 at 3:27 PM Rating: Default
I'm sorry to tell you this but this has bugs all its own too.

If you cast mem blur there is a potential upon a successful cast that a mob will: 1)the mob will just port back to its spawn point 2) the mob will poof completely (same as dot bug)

Now imagine you're on a raid and you memeblur trak or the 4th warder and it poofs.

Nuf said.
RE: OMG...
# Jul 02 2001 at 5:33 PM Rating: Decent
yeah, too bad warriors should have less damage, and more taunt. Warriors aren't supposed to get up in there and fight as hard or nearly as hard as monks, They are supposed to take their AC, and their HP and suck up the damage while doing minimal damage themselves. Monks are DoT's, they aren't meant to take as much damage. I wish people like you could think of what they say before they make fun of verant for their mistakes.
Hah
# Jul 01 2001 at 8:27 PM Rating: Decent
Put it this way... to warriors this is a blessing. The monk taunts-the monk dies- you have a nice time while the monk is gone. The monk comes back- dies- goes away for bit... this time he gets pissed and camps. Warrior STILL has a nice time. Lol

Some ppl may say warriors get screwed, only problem is that when all other classes get better at taunting and not warriors the only ppl who really lose on it is the group your in.

Other strong words can be used: Verant is ******* up the game balance and that is not good for any player.

Im a warrior and when I cant taunt, that is my job, then whats the point with warriors? Better to have more monks then who does more dmg if the mob is gonna go on the monk first anyways.

Actually, you are thinking of Wu's Tranquil Fists. This is a recent drop that has appeared in Lesser Faydark, dropping from the Undead Spirit Guard. Unfortunately, it was reported dropping a few days ago, since the 'Emergency Patch' Lfay has reverted to its old 'live' version on many (if not all) servers. It may have been an error, but it is definitely different than the result of the Test of Fists which nets the 1hb stated above. Would love to see more info about the validity of those drops, and whether or not it is a loot table error.
