Lethar and Dyn'leth - Blood of Betrayal Vol. III
Vengeance upon the Father
The locket, having been worn by Dyn'leth reveals much about his ambitions after his mother's death. For many days following Veldyn's death, he sat with her frail body, wrapping it in leaves and a
| shroud. Without Lethar's knowledge, he buried Veldyn within the temple in a place he and his mother spent many hours together.
Over those days, Dyn'leth contemplated his and Veldyn's fate and then considered that of his father's. Knowing he was no match for his father physically, Dyn'leth chose to
|
| fight his father's deceit with his own. He feigned interest and respect for his father and did all he could to learn from him and gain knowledge of the temple and what plans Lethar had for his son.
He decided he would use all these tools his father gave him to one day control and deceive his own father and
| make him pay for the death and cruelty placed on his mother. Vengeance would be his in time. Dyn'leth was patient and learned about Veeshan's scale, its power, and his father's weaknesses.
But, just as a tiger may not change its stripes, Dyn'leth could not deny the black dragon's blood that rushed
|
| through his veins. While he never lost sight of exacting vengeance upon his father, his ambitions grew. Why stop at controlling his father? While not control the mountains? Armies? Kingdoms?
When Dyn'leth learned that he was in part born of the magic of Veeshan's Scale and that it was thought it could control
| dragons as much as heal and protect them, he chose to learn to control its power. Not being a pure child of Veeshan, Dyn'leth was immune to many of the scale's powers, and he soon found out his father was not. Much later, he would also learn that many drakkin are not immune.
