Changed to a 12 slot bag with today's patch.
A useless item now
# Jul 10 2009 at 10:27 AM Rating: Good
I still see people attempting to sell this for excessive amounts in the bazaar, but its actual function is now useless since sony reduced all coin weight to zero so people has platinum on them for mercenary costs.

Monk item? > EVERYONES ITEM.
# Dec 29 2003 at 7:29 PM Rating: Decent
I"m a monk and would love this bag.
But, its really suited to anybody.
Juast about anybody OTHER than a monks will be the ML, so truthfully, its good for anyone.

Whats my take on it? If I get 1000pp in my pocket before I get to the bank, its pretty damn rare.
Only happended once. I generally do at most 2 LDON adv before the party breaks up anyway.
Ya, monks get less AC from weight, but a few hundred plat isn't gonna kill me.

In fact, unless the tank somehow bites the dust, or I"m taking hellovalot of AE dmg from a mob, I rarely get hit anyway. Maybe once or twice in an average LDON adv the cleric has to give me a CH. most of the time I just get a HoT between fights.

It is not a no-drop item.

I was just awarded one today, and it was not awarded until we had left the zone and moved on to other areas. It certainly is nice though. :)
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 06 2002 at 3:00 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Where is the damn affordable item that reduces the coins you carry 100% of the weight. I am really very sick of having to keep my weight down to nothing, I want to loot coin by the barrel full no matter if i'm a lvl 1 newbie or a lvl 65 uber guy with all the best armor in the game. Ah well, I wouldn't be complaining if they hadn't nerfed our AC defense so they deserve every rant they get after that.
RE: Sigh
# Dec 10 2002 at 5:44 PM Rating: Default
If you wanted a character with good AC and dmg, perhaps you should not have chosen a monk.... just throwing that out there. Even pre-nerf they weren't supposed to be tanks. Post-nerf they still aren't, but put them in the fight with a good MT, and they're invaluable (along with rogues).

Are you just upset because you can't solo like you used to?

Am a warrior & would love this item as I can not just tp to the nearest bank to unload my cash. This would turn 3 trips to the bank into 1. Seem to spend half my time tryin to get a tp to a bank to unload my cash & the other half tryin to get back. Any characters could use this. Agreed a monk probably most, but I think all are entitled.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 06 2002 at 10:41 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Monkeys get this and dragon bags, thats just how it is. If you don't like it play a monk. If all the monks have, casters gonna get. If you don't like it, play a caster. Melee could give two ***** about this bag, we got 255 str all the time, and WE are the ones that KEEL big stuff.

This place is getting as bad as Everlore. People just flame each other and provide no useful info that someone can actually use about the item in question, other than reiterating the info already available in the picture. I am pretty sure that ANY class would love a 70% coin weight reducer. So quit flaming monks or anyone else that says "gee I would really like this for <insert class here>". And yes I am a monk, but that makes no difference to the point.

Or just use the content controls in the forum system here. Setting the system to only display Good or better comments removes the bickering pretty well. You'll miss the odd fresh commment with good content, but if you're that opposed to watching people bicker it's probably worth it.

Use the Preferences to set the system to "Side View, Always Expand, Newest first, Good and better", select save, and click change. Can't really complain about the comments when I've built a whole system so that people can ignore them at their own liking.

Feel free to rate flames as awful, that's what I do. If everyone did it, then the flames would disappear, and we would be left with hopefully more useful informationn.

..how when you think about it, if you're carrying around 38K of plat, you would need this purse. BUT since you're buying it, the guy or gal who just sold it to you would seem to need it more!
kinda ironic, eh?

blast this gnome logic!

This would be why, prior to the weight restrictionless Bazaar, most trades of this nature were performed at a bank, and now are performed at a bank or in the Bazaar. That way no one has to travel a significant distance carrying a massive amount of cash that slows them down.

that is so true. wow when u think of it the person who just sold it would be liek "sweet 38k........ i can't move to get to bank..oo poo nuggets..." hah i wish i could see that

monk BS
# Jun 20 2001 at 4:14 AM Rating: Decent
If I remember correctly, the reason monks have the weight limits and are decently equipped in player made armor is because verant wanted a class for those who didn't want to spend every gaming moment looking for loot. So, complaining about the lack of "monk gear" is like complaining about the lack of warrior spells, or good mage melee items. True, it is still possible to upgrade any monk's gear, but it wouldn't be quite fair to make a class that will never need gear. As it is, it is much cheaper to buy a full set of high level monk armor and weapons than it is for any other melee class, and if you really want, you are the only class who at high levels can be effective without having spent any money on weapons or spells.

I play a monk. I accepted the weight restrictions, limited armor and other drawbacks when I started him. If your real problem is never getting to loot, you're playing the wrong class. Rolling when it's actually a decent monk usable item I agree on, but rolling just to roll is stupid. And if you really want monk gear, go to the zones that have it, don't just go to any zone then start demanding for stuff to drop gear for you.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 12 2004 at 7:26 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You know that would make sense except for the fact that monk resists and stats do not go up without gear. If my svm was at 120 at level 50 with tailored gear only, i'd be very happy.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 07 2002 at 10:08 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The big difference is when your monk is your main. At level 36/37 I am JUST starting to get money to buy stuff, but it's commin in real slow. Maybe when I hit 50 I might be able to upgrade me equipment.

"If I remember correctly, the reason monks have the weight limits and are decently equipped in player made armor is because verant wanted a class for those who didn't want to spend every gaming moment looking for loot."

You remember wrong. The whole idea for a monk is to be able to do dmg and avoid being hit.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 29 2001 at 3:50 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) im gonna hafta disagree with you and i agree with the non looting every second thing,(never twink a monk cause it doesnt make enough of a difference)

All the coin purses reduce coin weight..

20% though? the one in Nowling is like 40% Coin reduction...

Course, this has to drop off mister badass yelinak himself..great fro monks to hold shuriken and bandaids in (course, so is large soiled bag, and it's easier to get, and more common, and oh yeah it's better too)
I have the small coin purse on my monk
# Jun 10 2001 at 12:48 PM Rating: Default
And it's 20% reduction. as it only holds tiny items i can't tell it it actually reduces item weight as well as money (it definitly does that). Anybody who knowes -not just guesses like the guy below- if it does get a big hug eh? I love my purse 0.0 wt container! and I suppose I could live with this one being .1 and holding 4 times the slots. OH well... it's not like i'm going to lay my hands on this anytime soon.

Funny how people all the way up the chain here are talking about how you said its 20%...when you were referring to the SMALL coin purse you have on your monk...as noted in the title of your post lol.

Great Item
# Jun 09 2001 at 2:28 AM Rating: Default
The largest benefit I see in this item, is high levels on old servers. And yes, this is most definitely a great item for Monks. The thing is, on Tarrew mArr for instance.. I know a LOT of people that have tons of PP in bank that they want on hand for some item when it drops or a spell. But, that is just not possible since THAT much PP weighs a ton. And I agree with one of the earlier posts.. Kudos for adressing the earlier problem of too few slots in the Coin Bags, I presonally have never had one, but "if" these Bags also reduce Item weight.. Then they're just THAT much better.

Carry around a stack of some valuable gem. .1 weight, stacks up to 20 in one slot. weight problem solved. Most other players will know approximate value of the gems, and will trade accordingly. Needless to say, buy from friendly vendor with charisma as high as you can.
RE: Great Item
# May 06 2003 at 1:47 PM Rating: Good
the only trouble is you lose about 10% when you buy from a vendor and sell back at best prices....

if you don't want to lose 10%
you can get up to 100 in JC, carry around a jewelers kit, a stack of enchanted silver bars and a stack of rubies.
each ruby costs 131.25 plat, each gold bar costs .45 plat.
click combine, sell to vendor for 137.45 plat.
1 in 20 will fail, so a stack should yield 2611.25 plat, and cost 2635.5 plat, for a loss of 1 percent. the weight of enc. silver bars is .3, rubies .1, jewelers kit .4

hey, it may be a waste of time and crazy, but it works if you're a complete penny pincher.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 08 2001 at 4:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I could be wrong, after all, I don't have velious, or kunark, so there are a lot of things and places I've never seen, but it doesn't say 'effect' on it, so I don't think it affects the weight of the coins you are carrying, just the items stored within it. If it does indeed alter the weight of the coin you are carrying, then Verant has made another typo...
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 12 2001 at 1:12 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you dont have either of the expansions then you really shouldn't be trying to provide comments or info on things in them.

# Jun 08 2001 at 4:23 PM Rating: Default
My thought is that think about how close this is to 100% coin weight reduction? Now think of the fact that with 100% weight reduction you will never have to worry about how much coin you have again. So with this, you can NEARLY not think about coin at ALL.

Not really, you can just carry about 3 times as many, if the 70% is the reduction for the coins. 2000 cp would still load you down.

Well, as a iksar monk I'd love this. Running through cities and doing a FD at the bankers feet gets a bit tedious after a while. Since coins weigh 1.0 per 40 coins, this'd really cut the number of trips through hostile cities.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 11 2001 at 6:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ha ha ha i never really tried that but it might work except half the time FD doesnt work
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 13 2001 at 9:18 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) then practice fd
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 08 2001 at 5:58 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Although the idea sounds good, in theory these don't really do all that much. With the other coin purse that drops from mobs in skyshrine, it simply doesn't help that much. You have to be carrying around an insane amount of coin before it really would earn it's keep in your inventory.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 08 2001 at 9:09 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is meant to reduce the weight of COIN. No other item in the game even comes close. The only other one reduces 20%. If you have to watch weight, this makes a HUGE difference.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 08 2001 at 1:43 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) 0.1 WEIGHT!!!
