This thing is amazing for Beastlords on TLP. The pets gain benefits of pet AAs so they'll crit, flurry, and live for longer. Oh, and they gain benefits of auras too! Because of this, the pet proc will beat any raw DMG aug for mainhand DPS for a Beastlord until you get in the range of a +5 or +6 DMG aug, depending on weapon delay.
I didn't replace it until I was 85. Obviously, raid mechanics / AEs can make the pet less usable on certain fights. For any other class it's just a toy, for Beastlords it's your best DPS aug for like two years on TLP.
I just got this augment the first time I did this LDON raid with my box-team, made me happy. Unfortunately I did not have a weapon with a slot 8. The last time I raided in EQ was during PoP and I think slot 8 was introduced for the first time on Plane of Time weapons, and our Guild never made it that far.
But I wanted to see this proc in action so I looked up what seemed to be the easiest attainable "Raid" weapon that has a slot 8. Qvic (GoD) turned out to be a good zone for this. Flagging for this open Raid zone is not needed anymore, Raid targets are all up (or so they seemed to be), not much visited and at least 3 Raid-targets drop Beastlord wearable weapons.
I hit all three Raid targets that I had picked with my 5-boxgroup + 1 merc, level 83 all, and it was damn fun! Not exactly hard, but still took a lot of time since these mobs have so many HP. I also had not looked up much about these mobs, so the adds and such were quit a surprise. The zone's boss mob (Cynosure something) was also a target and he dropped the 2-handed Forgotten Greatstaff! Also got a lot of other loot (augs and such) that must have been awesome back in the day.
Put the Eternal Shard in the Staff and it procs a LOT! The swarm pets are aslo fun to watch, with their Sword and Shield, true minions. I am going back to Qvic though, because I want the one-handed weapon from Cynosure, the Handwraps of Capture Magic, so I can put the proc in there. Then use my Fabled Savage Platinum Fists in my other hand (Procs the Claw swarmpets, often more then one), cast Yowl at the Moon (Werewolf swarmpet) and send in my regular pet, and watch my Army of Minions beat down the mob.....all these pets have an even better use then just their dps: they make my Mages Jolt of Many spell hit for max damage. Very nice to see this fast casting, low mana and fast refresh (9s) spell hit for 7 times in a row, where each can be a crit separate from the others. Something like:
"Ladana's Jolt of Many hit a Reviled Ghoul for 2307 damage" "Ladana's Jolt of Many hit a Reviled Ghoul for 1982 damage" "Ladana's Jolt of Many hit a Reviled Ghoul for 4308 damage" "Ladana's Jolt of Many hit a Reviled Ghoul for 2486 damage" "Ladana's Jolt of Many hit a Reviled Ghoul for 4281 damage" "Ladana's Jolt of Many hit a Reviled Ghoul for 3286 damage" "Ladana's Jolt of Many hit a Reviled Ghoul for 2007 damage"
Yes this still dropped. Confirmed because I just got one the other day. Have to get enough people in grp to start the raid up, but it's easily soloable if you're 90+. Some of the named do hit hard tho. so have a healer or be able to heal yourself somehow.
Dropped for our guild on combine as we got server first on an SRo ldon, it's the raid that doesnt' involve splitting ur raid force up, other 2 do. Very nice proc and it'll move with me as i upgrade, procs skeleton pet (larger than normal) with a designer shield and a nice looking 1hb that is huge, never seen the model for either it wields til now. I also have mace of the ancients from the 4 EP God essences that procs skelly pet with seru sword of truth....my ranger is gonna be a commander of an undead legion! :O ***************** is all....GO NOXIOUS!
