Hopefully someone at makes this game will realize that the drop rate of these is VERY SMALL!!! For something that is need in DoN armor, it should be increased!!!

Bought one off a PoK spell vendor and it was selling for 9Gp and change. there was only one I have been running al over looking for them on vendors.

I've notice that they made it possible to make Plains pebbles shard by combineing a plains pebble, and a file in a forge......now if they would take they hint and do that with Jade, so we could have plent of Jade Shards for New Cultural. Found one Jade Shard in Shadoweaver Thicket, after about an hours worth of hunting for shade silk.

I ran all over-I mean ALL OVER-checking merchants for these, then I found that Elementalist Siewth in POK library sells them. Pearl shards too. <sigh>
DOH! Guess she does not sell them, someone must have sold them to her. Who has like eighty jade and pearl shards? But she didn't have them after the patch, sorry.

Daleen Leafsway in Rivervale does not sell Jade Shards. (except occasionally, maybe)

I had one drop from a skulking brute in the caves to Dalnir, in Warsliks Woods zone. I've hunted there quite a bit and don't remember one dropping before.

Checked today (03/16/2005) afte rpatch and elementalist Somat was not selling any jade shards, must have just been a fluke.
was not a fluke. if i sold to him, it goes into his inventory...where it will remain until either purchased or patched out.

I have been twice to Thurgadin and Tobart Dirkins but no Jade Shards for sale.
not standard inventory, drops frequently in crystal caverns, check out the dwarf traders over there if you don't want to hunt orcs yourself.

I spent all night tonight farming Crystal Caverns, specifically the geonids, crystalline spiders, and terrors at the bottom. In the time it took me to make around 2500pp and farm 14 stacks of crystalline silk (which I'll be using for tailoring skill ups rather than journeyman cultural due to the lack of jade shards in game), I did get 18 pieces of Jade for loot, I even saw one chipped Jade drop off a geonid, but there was not one jade shard.
Other common drops were amber (11), ivory (8), pearl (8), topaz (8), black pearl (7), peridot (6).
As far as jade shards, the only few I have are from checking every vendor in PoK.

k, this drops in loio too, and they are not useless ok, this is used as an ingredient to mage research along with pearl shard, ice of velious and other things, if u have 1 of these, and ur not a caster, i guess u have no use for them.
And now this is needed to make the new Journeyman symbols(augments) for the new Dragons of Norrath armor. I guess you use a Jeweler's Kit to combine one Jade Shard and one Water of the * (* = your deity such as Blessed Water of Brell Serilis...Agnostics would use Water of the Skeptic)

correct, the triv is 56. I am about to test and see if the combine can be done for other dietys other then your own.
I have gotten jade shards off frontier mountain giants and kobolds in nagafen's lair, they are as random as mithril earrings, gold rings, or any of the other rare "anywhere" items

These are used to research lvl 20 and 24 fire pets. I assure you that you can sell them to some mage if you save them.

I've been beating on Aviaks in SK for nearly a month. These have dropped at least once every day I've been there.
My guess is they are a "junk" drop and not just in Mistmoore.
