You can get the scorpions in and around the Field of Bone pit. You will get many of the no poison versions compared to your one needed drop with the poison on it for the quest. It is not as a bad a camp as other parts of the quest though.
Melee DoT

This is a great item for melees to pull with. It basically does 5 damage per tick, which stacking with your attacks, and with casters other DoTs, pets, and nukes, can really add up.
How tell if telson has poison?

How do you tell if the telson has poison? Equip it and mug a saberooth kitten, see if kitten gets poisoned? Does the poison ever "run out"?

You can tell if it has poison by looking at the description of the item. It will be expendable and list poison bolt as the effect if it has poison. If it does not have poison, it won't be listed.

The description at the top of the page says that it's a triggered item with one charge. On top of that, it's an expendable item, meaning that it will vanish after you use it up.
Effect removed

In one of the recent patches, they removed the effect of this weapon. Not sure which one, just noticed that when I looted one the other day, the effect was gone
