the proc is fixed now, works groupwide again. proc will 'stack' with the epic, but not the haste component, obviously...
oh also

forgot to mention these stats are actually incorrect now , since the effect was change the stats were changed slightly. it is now:

hi i have and use this weapon. the effect does indeed stack with the epic effect though i heard it didnt once as it was broken , it is self only lasts the length of a song. those stats above seem about right , cept i havent noticed the agi/ac bonuses. guy who said too much agro , yes this weapon gives some agro , its really good and only a fool would not use this weapon because of a reason like that . well that or someone who has not descovered song of dawn. person that said switch out from primals , yes someone might do this its arguably better however avatar is a 6min spell and if you have ever seen primals in action you'll know of their large proc rate , making them very easy to switch out for proc and back to epic. personally i use this dagger and the epic , when im not using songs that i greatly need to raise with an instrument effect i often find myself procing the epic and putting it in offhand so the dagger is mainhand for more procs.

#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 18 2001 at 5:04 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok, so it has good stats... But the proc is not better then the proc on bard epic. Would you rather have a 55% haste (bard epic) that last 25 ticks (2.5 minutes), or would you rather have a weapon that is a 60% haste (dagger of the sea)
RE: Why this is not better then epic.
# Nov 17 2002 at 7:50 PM Rating: Default
What are you talkin about?... First of all the epic is 45% haste not 55. Second I don't know about when you posted this message... but the effect for this lasts jus as long as the epic not 18 secs.... at least mine does heh. So this is definatley better then the epic..

Epic is 45% haste 30 str 30 atk

Siren Song is 60% haste 30 str 30 agi 15 ac

Oh and they stack =P

Symphonic Saber : 11/23 Effect ( Right Clickable ) : Symphonic Harmonie ( Jolt Effect )

bard piercers
# Jun 12 2001 at 5:35 AM Rating: Decent
Other than the epic, are there any bard-only slashers in the game? i'm kinda getting tired of all these piercers. BTW, verant misspelled the spell -it should be, "Seas," or "Sea," but not "Sea's." =)
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 18 2001 at 2:59 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ummm Who cares about the spelling? And yes they spelled it correctly. Seas is a proper word a name. ' S E A ' S is the plural and correct usage of this word.
RE: bard piercers
# Aug 18 2001 at 4:41 PM Rating: Decent
SEA'S is not the plural form of SEA, 's implies ownership of something. For example, "itis the bard's dagger" in this sentence, the 's shows that the bard owns the dagger. Just though a little grammer lesson wouldn't hurt anybody.

this effect will not stack with the singing short sword effect. that would be more haste than possible. just as a cloak of flames and rune branded girdle dont stack. remember that there is a haste cap. honestly i use the SSDotS in place of my SSS. but that really depends on the situation. my SSS usually is collecting dust in my bags somewhere. SSDotS adds 45 ac with the effect btw, the same as nature's defender for paladins. but then again we have no defensive prowess like they do so its incomparable.

RE: bards are worst meleers?
# Apr 21 2003 at 10:34 PM Rating: Decent
Oh? If bards aren't the best melee, who is? What gives bards that magical advantage over the other melee classes? Last I checked, they have the lowest HP/AC and lowest melee skill caps. I think it's a shame to even call bards a melee class because in reality, their melee abilities place fifth to the 4 other songs they're twisting. Taking songs away from a bard (as you suggest) equals a fifth rate melee class.

No group calls up the bard because they need a tank. No group calls up the bard because they want a DPS class. Say what you want, there are always exceptions, but more often than not that's the truth.
People DO call up bards because they are hands-down the most versitile class in the game. People DO call up the bard because he can increase the groups melee dps, mana regen, saves, provide crowd control and perform just about any function that could possibly provided by any other class.

Bards aren't a melee class. They aren't a caster class. They're simply in a category all their own.
RE: bards are worst meleers?
# Oct 13 2003 at 2:49 AM Rating: Decent
Not to flame you here.... but how can you say a bard is not a melee class? ok, 5th best melee in the game, whoop-de-doo. Last I checked, the entire class of playing a bard revolves around skill, whereas being a tank you just hit autoattack and walk away for a bit or, for your example, come back and hit the stun hotkey a few times. If I want to tank, fine, I will tank. Will it be good? Nope. But as far as I recall, no other class has the Deftdance ability, which allows me to dodge every form of melee attack (that I have encountered thus far) that can be thrown at me. This little tidbit has saved my family's group more than once, and has allowed many a raid to camp out a cleric for a CR. I do not count on my hits to do damage, no, that is just ridiculous. I could not hit hard enough to get damage out. But what I use to boost that up is procs. In my primary I have a Fleshgrinder, currently un-augumented, and in my secondary I have a Flameweaver, with a 50pt fire based proc on top of the 110 fire based proc already bestowed upon the weapon. Pop in Warsong of Zek, a nice 20-30% haste item, Warsong of the Vah Shir, and Katta's, and I'm swinging just a teeny bit fast as well as having max dex and procing every 2-3 hits. Against mobs that have alot of hitpoints, those itty bitty procs will eventually add up. And please do not forget out dots. Although not the best, certainly pretty darn lethal considering they don't cost mana. And just to let you know, I have been designated puller for my groups because of Silent Song of Quellious, which in my opinion is better than Pacify anyday. Pull with Angstlich's Assonance (single target dot/slow), use an aoe slow, and wait til the main slower gets their slow down. Hello, you can now tank the mob that people said you couldn't. Isn't that amazing? I never would have guessed! Before you go flaming a class, take a look at your own class. Last I checked, a paladin is only half the tank that a warrior is.

Bards don't get double attack as part of their class, and this really hurts melee dps. Also, lots of other classes have something like deft dance; rangers get weaponshield, monks get whirlwind, and warriors get something too, forget the proper name. Bards are great, but in no way shape or form a dps class or a tank class. A proc-based melee strategy is a great way for bards to sneak in some damage, but both of those weapons you named are unmodified fire resist procs, which in a worst cause is absolutely pointless (a fire-immune mob, for instance).

And as for the anti pally remarks, go ask any chanter(or shaman or cleric) who they prefer for an exp group MA, a pally or a war. Warriors are vital for tanking boss encounters, but in the current game warriors cannot get exp groups very easily due to the vast preference of pally/sk for agro management. Read steel warriors board if you don't believe me ;)

Bards get double attack AA in PoP abilities, do your homework before flaming...

It might not be the best chance of success, but it's there nonetheless

Bards are a dps class imo because we put out a resonbly good amount of dmg in melee and a great amount of dps with our songs. Currently at 53 and Drums of the Beast I do 70dmg a tick per song or somewhere around there and at that lv we have 4 of these dots so that 210dmg a tic for no mana not including your offhand weapon dmg which is about 20dmg a tick maybe. It is not likely for all our dots to stick easily with missed notes and resist but we can put out some nice dps if needed.
Nice compliment to a bards epic.
# May 13 2001 at 11:57 AM Rating: Default
And if you can stack the effect of the epic and this along with your favorite song you would be one bad as bard.
This Weapon isn't as good as it seems
# May 11 2001 at 7:59 PM Rating: Default
I've been playing my lvl 54 bard for a long time and if you are playing your bard well, this weapon will most likely get you killed. The reason is I generate a metric f*ckload of hate as it is. When I'm playing 4 songs in a group, mobs are pissed off at me enough as it is, with this weapon it would take a VERY uber war to taunt it off of me be for I get creamed. This weapon is great for all the bards out there that don't know how to twist songs very well, but if you are one of those bards and you are going to any of the very dangerous parts of Norrath, I pity your group.

I'm a level 55 bard, can do crowd control (to an extent of replacing an enchanter), can twist 4 songs at any given time, have my epic that procs often...and i DONT generate a lot of aggro. I think you need to learn a bit about aggro management...

Any good bard should have experimented enough to know how to control their aggro expertly, especially by their 50s. If you were using this in conjunction with your epic and had aggro problems you'd have to consider your twist carefully, choosing lower aggro songs where appropriate and perhaps using song of dawn from time to time. Seriously though, if you are doing your job and the war is doing theirs you shouldn't have a real problem unless there's something distinctly wrong.

What are you singing, shield of song? only way I can draw mobs off the tanks is with that or DoTs... our regens and buffs increase in power linearly vs. melee damage which increases quadratically (which means we taunt lots with them at low levels but tanks outtaunt them with damage alone at high levels). With this weapon I could finally do more melee damage than a shammy with an epic!
It's not a big concern...
# May 11 2001 at 9:46 PM Rating: Default
If you can get this, you can expect your warriors to be level 60 with the best taunting weapons available. You'd be surprised how well a good warrior can keep the attention of an ubermob. :)

Additional note: Not to say that I wouldn't use this bad boy, but if I did, I would stop meleeing and just sing, but then it might as well be a 2dmg 150dly weapon at that point, because it won't make a difference. =)

i've been lookin into the newest stuff from ToV for a while now, and have seen very little that can be used by a rogue short of the items that are all/all and "claimed" by one class or another. i've got my RB and am fairly resigned that i will not be going to ToV for a while.

i'm happy for bards getting an item such as this, but it would be nice to see an item with power close to this that rogues wouldn't have to compete with several other classes for.

i have no doubt that this item is better than the rogue epic by far.
RE: /sigh
# May 18 2001 at 3:11 PM Rating: Default
obviously you fail to understand that bards do not get double attack nor backstab so to compare a bardic weapon to a rogue weapon is not possible

"i have no doubt that this item is better than the rogue epic by far."

That may be true if this weapon were in the hands of a rogue. The reason why this weapon has such great stats is because only a bard can use it. Bards are the worst meleers of the melee classes, so this weapon, while really great, would not make a bard more effective in melee than a rogue with his epic. You have to consider which classes can use something before comparing it to another weapon.

A bard-only weapon is like an apple, and a rogue-only weapon is like an orange. It's hard to compare them directly.

RE: UNREAL
# Aug 25 2001 at 3:31 PM Rating: Good
Damn ... you got nothing to Complain ... this is the only bard oonly weapon in TOV ... I saw a few that rogue can use and will get well before the bard.

As for being better then RB ... I can understand ... RB is a joke to get ... my friend did his in 3 days. Even the Singing Short Sword Epic makes the RB Epic looks like a joke when it comes to difficulty in getting it.

And as for the class only weapons ... Bards get the least weapons in the game which are bard only in the melee Classes

So as far as Im concern ... Im happy to see good bard only weapons ... we need a few more
RE: UNREAL
# Aug 23 2001 at 3:02 PM Rating: Good
I thought Freebringer ... err ... Ragebringer was a handout for Rogues. Don't they give those out when you turn in your newbie note now?

These come from a dragon deep in north wing of Temple of Veeshan. I seriously doubt ever seeing more than 10-15 on a server. Hardly giving them away.
primal
# May 10 2001 at 10:06 AM Rating: Default
This beats primal, there are a few weapons that FoH members are swapping out primal for, and this is one of them, the dmg delay is better, stats are arguably just a little less useful and the proc is much more bard oriented, very few bards will ever need Avatar, especially when they could have this proc
better than epic
# May 10 2001 at 9:39 AM Rating: Default
Wow I think this is a lot better than the epic. But then again the epic acts as an instrument and actually raises the effects of some singing skill songs...

Nonetheless, paired with the epic this is most likely the best combination of weapons for a bard, barring primal.
