I'm glad this sword is still worth something. I have not played this game in 5 years and my stats are pretty low compared to what everyone else in game at my same level. I'm going to sell this item and get me the new better stuff. Any ideas on what to get for a ranger level 50. Thanks in advance.

This is the best tradeable weapon for a dual wielder under level 50. Not to mention it has 100hp and 10AC. That, my friend is why it sells for so much.
Start up a newbie toon and start searching bazaar for 1hander's for it. You will quickly learn why people want this and BoC.

Just because it's an old item, doesn't mean it sucks. With no required or recommended level, this is a VERY good item. It's still worth a lot because, not surprisingly, it's rare.
For a high level character, yeah there's certainly better out there but this is a pretty nice twink item now. Granted, it's a really nice twink item that isn't the easiest to get, so it's going to be expensive.

Paid 20k on FV server. My 16 ranger loves this and when he dings 17 it will either be paired up with the bladecatcher or a priceless velium llongsword, haven't decided (will play both and see which combo works best).
All I can say is even with only a 21% haste item this thing is ridiculously fast. I would upgrade to better haste but they either semm to be back items (currently wear Cloak of Greater Pernicity) or waist (and I'm not giving up my Belt of the Turtle). So until I find better haste on hands I'm sticking with Silver Chitin Handwraps I guess.

Going by my personal experience and nothing else ... I love this weapon. I am a Troll warrior ... Our guild did the raid event, and I got the sword.
A week later ... when I bought the LDON expansion ... I now have the ability to put a Type 4 - Weapon Proc - augment on it. Guess what ... in a exp grind with me tanking( I say that because most Raids I like wielding Bane weapons if I can) ... rarely does anyone else get hit ... but I'm seriously thinking on putting a Anger3 augment on it. I have a Splitblade of Destruction in my other hand ... 34% haste belt ... I'm a buzzsaw that makes the enemy angry.
Now with the melee Disciplines ... If I think that there may be the offchance at the begining of the fight someone might over nuke ... I can Bellow as well. I think all in all this weapon is worth it in HP's, AC, and stats. Warriors can use this for a long time .. through many levels .. without fear of getting a bad rap since you Like HP's, AC ... rather than the occasional 179DD proc.

There is a guy on the Tunare server who has been trying to sell this blade for the past two months for 450k!!! I am serious, go check for yourselves. he cannot sell it, and I see why now...the blade isnt worth more than 25K. Now here is the kicker people.....he just brought his price down from 500K. What a fool!
Agreed. I saw the same thing. I can only assume that he is wanting to buy a full set of ornate patterns and needs the cash in one big sell. Anyway, the blade is nice but be reasonable.

It looked like a SSoY so i though "Nice!" and picked it up. Much to my suprise, (and delight) it turned out to be one of these bad boys. Wow. Along with it there were Silver Chitin Handwraps. I dont know if it was a self transfer, dont know why they wouldnt put it in bank though.Oh well, very good day for me I guess.

The HP is nice on this, but a weapon is for holding agro. The stats are a nice side bonus...but i wouldnt take stats over agro anyday. I use copper hammer of striking / SBol...works very nice
This isn't an agro weapon, it's fast light weight has ac and a more then decent amount of hp. As a Bard or a Ranger your job isn't for agro'ing.
Solid weapon in my opinion.

This has been on my list of wants for a little while, one of the things I look for every time I am in the Bazaar. To my delight one showed up a few days ago. I practically tripped over myself getting to the bank to pull the money out and running to the vendor! I recently went on a shopping spree and have several weapons and pieces of armor that I swap out to get the best combination for the days event but this will be staying in my primary slot for a good long while! I love the stats and speed. Though I am a lowly Half Elf Ranger I love to melee, and I am sure because of it I under utilize my bow. This thing is awesome with my duel wield, double attack and with 31% haste it does almost as much damage as the Wurmslayer I have (calculations in a 60 second time period of 462 dmg as compared to the Wurmslayers 475 dmg.). And with this speed it seems to me the more times I can hit the mob the fewer opportunities the Mob will have to hit me and the more likely I will interrupt any spell they may try to cast on me. I currently have a Guard Captains Mallet in my secondary. The only way to improve this, for my ranger anyway, would be if it had 10 Dex and maybe some more Mana but as far as I am concerned this is an AWSOME 1HS weapon! I was more then happy to pay 35K for it on Xegony. Can't believe there are still items like this that can be traded at level 1!!!!

Got this and really nice agro getter for my warrior i duel weild this with a Defiance and wearing a RBG for haste keeps the agro really nice!

I attained this weapon with the help of my great guild and being only 52 this weapon was godly for me :) Also, the other day I saw a Warrior wielding this weapon in his primary hand and the red epic sword in his offhand (the de-buff/aggro increaser - the blue epic sword is a stat booster) I am just wondering if this sword is better than epic?

Considering ratio wise, it is better than epic. Warrior epic ratio: 1.714, Swifblade of Zek ratio:1.636. So it is slightly better. It has more hps than epic, and it has ac which our epic doesn't. This sword doesn't have a proc or saves though. The price has gone down a lot.

ratio isnt everything.. this is also a lot faster, which with damage bonus would be more DPS. This in primary with the proc-epic in offhand wouldnt be a bad combo, decent damage (i know it isnt a warriors primary concern, but it never hurts) and pretty good agro. this WOULD however be better suited to a ranger (warriors proccing weps are better for agro, pal/sk cant DW, and a ranger DPS is more valuable than a bard DPS).

Hehe, ratio isn't everything, it's the only thing. Everything else is secondary to ratio. Procs and stats are good to have, but for low delay weapons, ratio is godly. Ratio becomes less important when the weapon of choice gets way too slow to take advantage of primary hand bonus, like say a wurmslayer.
That is why dps wise, 12/19 > 11/18 > 10/17 > 25/40.

Ratio is everything? BUZZZZZ wrong answer... At least once you have dmagae bonus applied. Ratio > everything for offhand only. Once damage bonus kicks in, speed is the key. The more you hit, the more that damage bonus is applied. DLB has a great ratio, but a faster weapon with a worse ratio can out damage it in primary due to damage bonus. The higher the level, the more your damage bonus is, so the more important that speed is if yo uare looking for DPS.

No, you can use this weapon at level 1 if you choose to.
The "Level to Attain: 58 " is referring to what level you should be before attempting to try to quire this weapon (with a guild I might add).

I find it odd that your guild would award a paladin the SoZ... Nothing wrong with it I guess, but there are MUCH better paladin 1handers out there. Most guilds would award this to a Warrior simply because of the HP and the Ratio.

Agree with you but first, take a look at a few things, he's lvl 52. You have to be at least lvl 55 to join a raid to kill this mob unless if your very lucky. He could have got it a number of ways, maybe he bought it, maybe someone in his guild or a friend bought it for him, maybe someone in his guild had it, got something better then handed it down to him? Second of all he said he had a defiance, wich also drops off of the Idol of zek if I'm not mistaken. Again you have to be 55+ to help kill that thing. Again he probably could have bought a defiance. Anyways if he did buy them I'd like to know one thing, where and how he made the money for them? LOL. IMOP guilds should give this out to warriors first. It's a great aggro holder from what I've heard.(and just looking at the ratio) And most warriors dual wield this along with a blade of carnage wich is a better combo than war epics.

ive done statue and vindi raids since lvl 50. heck, we've had a 48 cleric there with us. you may be thinking of Avatar of War...though ive seen below 55's there too.....for cannon fodder, hehe.
ill admit though, on the statue and vindi, my songs did not start to land on him until about lvl 55 (oos prolly helped) but i never had a problem hitting him or charming another giant (if one happened to pop) to attack him

To ber frank, the members of the guild had much better already. I recently upgraded this to an ancient gladius, which is definately better for a Paladin. Also - not sure why Alla has me at 52 etc. I hit 57 last night and was 55 when I left this original post. I guess I need to update something. You guys were right tho - it was just an award until something better for me dropped and this sword is definately better for a war. It helped me though and had a higher damage ratio than the defiance.

what he means is he rolled on it and screwed someonw whoe can use another weapon with it instead of a 1hs with a ratio of less then 1...basically its droppable so the first upgrade he gets it's going in the bazaar on an anonymous mule.

PC on this item is about 60-70k on Quellious. I talked seller down, and got mine for 55k last night. Very happy with my purchase.
Holy Junk.....55k? This weap goes for about 20k max on Vallon Zek, and thats saying something for a PvP server. You payed too much. Go the the local uber guild on your server and tell them to send some parties to Kael and get some, hopefully that will drop the price. Great weapon, but not for 55k IMHO.

Warriors pay for low delay in primary especially, and with 11 dmg and the +str boost, this weapon becomes an agro manager and will output very decent damage. 10 AC is beautiful, tanks pay massive amounts to upgrade their armor pieces for extra ac. Finally, 100hp on any item will make it worth much more easily. All of that together makes this one of the fastest weapons in the game with some of the most desired warrior stats. This is why it is worth so much, regardless of the fact that it is also rare off of a MOB that some servers still don't raid.

Anyone know if a lvl 1 can equip this?
you could use it at any level but great in the 50'ish range to get the full effect of the thing. i have this weapon as an off hand weapon and man i hits fast and a lot ). And yea i Twinked my self from the get go. nothing wrong with that at all. If you have the plat you will spend it some way and some day...

I don't see why this sword would run that high... True, I've been druish most my life, but I've played bard and ranger past 40 and although this sword has some decent stats I'm not all that impressed.

1)of 1hs weapons, it's number 23 according to pure ratio. and the 18 delay ensures lots of taunt. out of well over 300 items, it's awesome.
2)+10 str is nothing to laugh at

4)+75hp, once a tank his the softcap for AC, he needs +hp gear. (think of casters with over 200 int/wis needing +mana items more).

I have a Swiftblade of Zek on my alt and the stats are a little different. 10ac +10str +100hp +25mana and of course 11/18 1hs, I don't know when the hp bonus was changed, just letting you know.

Actually Blade of Carnage is better. Drops from Avatar of War that spawns when Statue of Rallos Zek is killed. Can you imagine living through battle with statue only to have Avatar pop on top of its corpse 8(

If the AoW pops on top of the Statue's corpse (like Rak pops on Black Reaver corpses in CoM), then you could pull the Statue wherever you wanted and still get the AoW right on top.

AoW pops in the temple, not where the Statue dies.

This may have changed since the above people posted, but the IDOL of Rallos Zek spawns when the STATUE of Rallos Zek is killed, down a tunnel which starts to the east of the alcove where the Statue spawns -- the tunnel comes out next to the PVP arena -- the area with the spectators -- in the alcove there, and the Idol spawns just behind that. Once the Idol dies, the Avatar of War spawns right in the middle of the PVP arena. This is true as of last night, when we killed the 3 spawns for the first time. :D

AoW does pop in temple and despawns in 1 hour. And it's on heck of a fight.

I dont know much about this game,(Newb Alert!!) but I know I really want this sword!!! I'm a lvl 14 Barb. warrior and now have a reason to lvl much more. I *have* to have this.. lol THIS is now my new quest for the game.. Live ..get sword..*then* rest.

It looks like a yak, so what, not every weapon needs a diffrent unique graphic. The CSS looks like a horrid sword that drops in FOB, do you her anyone complaining bout that, NO. Why? BECAUSE THE CSS RULES ALSO. If it's a great sword, why should the graphics matter.

Posted: Sep 11 2001 at 4:04 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) this weapon is amazing dmg/del but come on the speed kings of weapons are supposed to be rogues. throw one of these in your offhand and put rage or some such in your primary and watch a rogue turn into a blender. the 10str is a great help to backstab as well. As for the + mana for rangers and such, who cares? my rogue uses a slimer right now and that has both mana and wis.
hum with a weapon like this not even you evade skill will help you out on gettign the aggro fo you =p

Yes agreed, drool drool, this is a weapon to get excited about, the stats kick ass, it has incredible damage for so little delay, and yes, I would use it if even if it looked like a rusty dagger, HOWEVER these other guys do have a valid point. Verant spends alot of time improving the game this way and that, however, it would be nice for a new look every now and again. Saying they can't make a new looking weapon is inane especially when they went out of their way to make so many new armor looks for Velious itself (even though monks get the shaft ONCE AGAIN and their plain of growth armor looks like cured silk, monks aren't supposed to be adorned in beautiful garments :adjusts his froglok KING crown: I ware a crown, so what? can my crap brown garments just have a little tinge of blue or something?). Anyway, Verant is always making improvments to the game, and with the new expansion coming out you may be able to expect some more advancments in the graphics of the game. Again, awsome blade, graphic not a big problem, but no need to put down others who want to see a little change in the mediocre weapon selection of sprites.

I saw this blade while in EC tunnel. Yes it looks like ykesha but it is larger (longer) and is a brassish color.
Actually, I think I saw one of these the other day in the Spires in GFay. At least, it was a "Swiftblade" of some kind, I recall that much of the weapon name.
It looked like a katana, like those Bronze Katanas that drop in the Warrens. You know, the ones that people were complaining because they looked so cool, but were reasonably crappy weapons?
I saw a Naginata on another high level character, too. I forget the name exactly, it was a single word (like "Forloren" or something. A real word. Not Lamentation, I checked. :) I had a feeling they were going to recycle those graphics for spiffy weaponry, its nice to be vindicated.

You want graphics ? go to an arcade. I have no problem with the recycled models. It is a role playing Game, Just imagine you are smarter and the weapon looks better while you are doing great damage and have added bonus magic to your killing hardware!

well that rogue is an idiot, for first things first rogue cant use this weapon. this weapon has better damage AND Better delay then a lamentation, plus it adds good statistics. and then there's the weight, which at the lvl it is possible to get this baby weight wont matter for a warrior much, but the weight is another very good thing about the weapon. AND I dont see why any rogue would want this over a bloodpoint, unless there bloodpoint was proccing, because this weapon has three less delay and one more damage then a bloodpoint, the end of my long runon message =)
