Essence of winter drops off the tundra yeti's in Dreadlands, cave 1 on the EQ Atlas map
Just a note... making it trivials at 135 in the brewing skill. So, your options are either hire someone. (I being a brewer would make it for people for a plat each if they supply the ingreeds but prices will depend on who ya find and where you are.) Or, get your brewing skill up. If you're a war I'd recomend this rout anyway because once you get into your alc tollerance will almost sure go up as you taste the new stuff you make.
To add to what I said in my last post... a little hard liquor for the guys and gals camping the ice giants can be a good way to make friends. (and possibly secure more essence and ivory)

I'm a lvl 21 bar shaman and I have found that the best stratagy tward getting the essence is to go to perma, fight some goblins for exp and blood and about every thrid time you have to med or zone out of perma due to one to many mendicants making you into Barbarian Barbeque, run up to the people camping the giants and ask them if they have any. (also ask for ivory while you're there cause the giants drop that too from time to time)
Let them know that its an inportant ingreediant that you can only get from the giants and ask if you can buy any from them. At that point also bank for them... buy their Fine Steel drops at a good price for them, and ask if they need ya to bring back any supplies or anything. Be nice and friendly and it goes along way to getting essence, while possibly making a small profit from the banking jobs.
Currently I have a very good working relationship with most of my sources for the essence. Alot of them even save it for me now. I bank for almost cost so they don't lose as much plat as they would banking with a lowbee out to prove that bandits do exist in everfrost. In return I normally get essence free of charge or occasionally for a plat a piece. Not bad concidering when I started asking half of them were destroying it cause they had no idea what it was for.
The important thing is to be nice and sociable and helpfull to the high lvl guys camping the giants, it really is. Go the extra mile and you'll be rewarded. At a vendor (if you get lucky enough to find it at a vendor) expect to pay about a plat for goblin blood, less than a gold per brandy and a little less than a plat for the essence if your charisma is good.

It drops off Ice Giants in and around Permafrost.
As a 27th level Warrior, I'm looking at a long long time before I can take one of those on. I'm trying to find out how much you should offer a player for them. I did read at another website that they go for around 6pp each. Does sound quite low though.

The ice giant campers are not relying on the essence for income. The fact that they actually get something for it is a bonus.
I have found that many will just give it away for free, and when I have payed I have always payed 5 pp per essence.
Even though it is hard to get, the demand is still very limited, which is why the price has not gone any higher.

For the frost temper you need

I know where to get the brandy and the ice goblin blood, but i havent got a clue where to get the essence of winter. . . anyone have any info on it?

Anyone have any idea how much I would need to give a brewer to make these? With and/or without the ingredients..
