Hafling's Out Of Luck
# Oct 28 2004 at 12:25 PM Rating: Decent
Well I'm out of it by Race, too as I'm a hafling druid, and even IF they worship Tunare, Too Bad, because they STILL can't wear the symbol as it stands now: HUMAN, HIGH ELF< ELF. Half Elf; NO HAlflings allowed.
Thanks, SOny for yet more discrimination of where we can play and what we can do in the world.
Reminding me once again why I disconconued plang about a year or more ago, and din't satrt up until EQII came up on teh horizon, and the handy-dandy catch up pack showed up for a fairly bargian price. So. I caught up with the expansions. Started in the mines (vey good touch- the "token"is extremely handy, and all the spider sil is also extremely important for many characer types--especially Wizard types. )
And the fairly easy access to bronze drops makes it pretty good for warrior types and clerics , etc who can use armor made with bronze bricks. And if youve checked out the requirements, youve noticed ther are a lot of armor types that dorequire it, so it does pay to stay in the mines and collect the bricks. Too bad youcan't put them in a shared bank-- the game won't let you.
I think that sucks. You should be able to share even no-drops amoung your own characters. But I'm beginning to rave :) Time to leave.

This is the "Initiate Symbolf of TUNARE" quest.
If you are an elvish priest (CRL, DRU) that worships Tunare you may use this item.

Anybody with enough faction can DO the quest, but you have to follow Tunare to USE it.

Most PRIESTS (CLR, DRU, SHM) have similar deity-specific quests, but not all.
Not all deities with quests have 3 total quests, some have only 2.

The quests (initiate, discpile, etc.) I could find:
- Bertox(1), Brell(2), Cazic(2), Inny(3), Rallos(1), Tribunal(1), Tunare(3)
Those that I did not find:
- Bristlebane, Karana, Quellious and the Marr kids.

Each quest reward has a different effect.
Those that exist, not all are worth doing, aside from Roleplay.

Karana folks, there are quests aplenty for you anyway. :)

I'm a human Druid of Karana... is there something similar to this for us? Or can we use this one?
RE: karana??
# Jul 25 2003 at 1:51 AM Rating: Decent
No, we cant use it, and no, thers nothing like it for us either. I also choose karana as deity for my human druid. When i realized this was a bad choise i was lvl 30 and not inclined to restart my char. Pitty how they present the alternatives as equaly good at character selction and the bully the char all tru its career. My druids 64 now and i still greive at times that i didnt pick tunare. If tehre was a way to change i would in a instant.

The Haste Percentage from this...
# Aug 14 2002 at 7:26 AM Rating: Default
The haste percentage from this varies with level. In the spdat, it stats that it varies from 2% to 50%, from lvls 1 to 30. After lvl 30 you will recieve 50% haste from the effect.

RE: The Haste Percentage from this...
# May 26 2003 at 2:02 AM Rating: Decent
Lol, yet another know-it-all-who-know-nothing is more like it. Apparently you've never played a caster before, because you know jack about percentages. Since this is a clickable haste, it goes like any other spell. The higher the level of the caster, the better the buff or the longer the buff lasts. I myself witnessed a pretty nice change in the speed of my haste between when I got it at lvl 29 and now at lvl 41. And it lasts longer as well.
Here's a thought- I got sow at lvl 9, a druid gets sow at lvl 14, and both rangers and beastlords get it at lvl 30. Now who's spell level is it suposed to get it's percentage from?
RE: The Haste Percentage from this...
# Oct 18 2003 at 12:25 PM Rating: Decent
It could be based on the shaman's spell level who gets sow at 9.

The ghast hearts
# Jul 16 2002 at 5:53 PM Rating: Decent
I killed 4 ghasts and get 4 hearts. I think it's not a rare drop at all, hehe. Or I'm very lucky
RE: The ghast hearts

Extremely Lucky. Took me 6 hours to get 4. It was the hardest part of the Quest IMHO.

The scoop on the haste...
# Jul 11 2002 at 6:53 PM Rating: Good
49 posts
The haste is a nice effect, but situational.

It's not like a FBSS, SoDB or RBG. You have to put the necklace on and right click it. It is self-only. Cast time is 4 seconds. Duration is 2 ticks (12 seconds).

The haste percentage however is very nice. It will overwrite Alacrity (40% haste) but will not overwrite Celerity (50% haste) so it's safe to assume it's roughly 41% haste, and it should also stack with worn haste.

It's basically the relatively long cast time and short duration that make this item not as glamorous as it may seem at first. However, the trade off is the very fast haste it gives.

Now as far as actually 'getting' the item...the ghasts are semi-rare spawns all over LFay and the heart drops roughly 25% of the time. Their PH's are suspected to be other undead in zone such as skeletons and mummies. The hearts can be Multi-Quested as well.
Haste Pct.?

Anyone know the numbers on the haste boost?
Of Use
# Mar 19 2002 at 6:10 PM Rating: Good
First I should state that I am and have always been a SOLO Druid. It isn't that I don't ever group - it is that I PREFER to solo. I have multiquested this item - So I have this - AND the Warden Symbol of Tunare - BOTH of which I use a LOT. Let me tell you HOW.... For Snare and scare having HASTE is AWSOME. In OverThere - I can snare a Blue sabertooth and fear it - right click on this item and Beat that cat to death as it runs away. This is TIME consuming since I only hit in the 20s with my Iksar beserker club BUT it is Mana efficient. I can cast regen on me and fight almost non stop this way - the ONLY time I use a ton of mana is when I get adds. Remember this and As you are gathering the materials for this quest and are already into the second part - you can gather up more hearts and be ready to turn them in right AFTER you turn in the ingredients for the warden symbol. These are BOTH GREAT ITEMS - I am turning in my Warden symbol adventure in that location.

Haste not echinacea
# Feb 16 2002 at 3:00 PM Rating: Excellent
Hey guys...
this is odd.
I played a LONG while ago (about a year). I have the initiate symbol, and it used to do the echinacea thingy. I just reactivated my acct, and the symbol NOW casts Haste! I don't mind, of course, but is this a flaw or did they change the item?
RE: Haste not echinacea
# Mar 07 2002 at 4:29 PM Rating: Decent
Just to clarify it's self only haste, and it starts to fade as soon as you cast it. Probably lasts for about 3 ticks. But it dose help with pre-20's melee. :)
(and yes, it't cast haste so it will stack with item haste, but who's going to have a melee cleric/druid?)

Yes, mine does that too! Just looked at it in the bank and almost fell off my chair! Do you know if it's self only or you can cast on others too?

Yeah mine too. What's with that? Is it a bug, or did Verant really make it useful? If it's for real Lfay will need a sign up sheet for ghasts.

To activate the effect simply right-click the symbol. It is self-only so it doesn't matter who you have targeted.

Well to answer that I'd have to be able to look into the future. I am a halfling druid as well, and while we dan do most of the quests for Tunare, we can't wear them due to the Diety restriction.

If Verant makes Plane of Wind (or whatever they are going to call the plane Karana resides in) I am sure we will get our turn at the good stuffs. /cackle
RE: Karana?

Karana is the "RainKeeper", not wind..
I imagine Plane of Air would count as wind, anyway...makes ya wonder where the Gods who's planes haven't been revealed reside...

btw..if there was a Plane of Rain...it would've been flooded to the top by now -=P

#Anonymous, Posted: May 20 2001 at 3:18 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why can't druid halflings wear this? This is a great piece in my opinion, and would be fun to play around with a mana less root. I'm a halfling druid, and i worship tunare, but for some reason i cant wear it. Can anyone explain?
#Anonymous, Posted: May 21 2001 at 5:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) haha, ignore this, i checked out the facts (which i shoulda done in the first place) i worship karana, not tunare, dont know why i got that mixed up, sorry, and carry on
the effect
# May 07 2001 at 3:20 AM Rating: Default
I just got this a few days ago after running through Lessre Fay for a weeks worth of game nights. It is worth effort though. Playing on a pv server, no-drop is more valuable than plat in the bank. But the effect is what I am most gratful for. While soloing crag spiders for the first time I discovered that thier poisen will nearly kill you if you are not carful. This effect helped stave off the poison long enough for me to get in a few more kills and that all important experience, Veirtania Autumnleaf: Officer of No Tears Initiates; Druid of the 25th season and Initiate of Tunare

I just got this initiate quest item today and well I'm glad I did it. I'm a level 24 druid now which helped me a lot, for one I can go into wolf form in which brownies don't agro on you anymore and I have track developed pretty well so I hunt down Ghasts easy, making me cost it 2 nights of hunting in lfay eqtime so I did it pretty fast I think. I can confirm the 1 out of 3 has a heart thing btw.

The effect to it gives +10 disease and +10 poison resist, for quite a short while though don't think it makes 2 mins like said before. The effect has a casting time and therefor can be interrupted but the casting time is not awfully long and I regained concentration twice already so channeling still seems to help with effects too.

Well that's about all I can say about this quest.

Is the effect instant or does it have a casting time? I'm mainly just after it so I can spam an item - who cares about the stats =P
The rundown
# Apr 23 2001 at 4:55 PM Rating: Decent
Ok i just got done with this one. Turned in the four bone chips and went after the ranchorus ghasts i found that they only come out after dark and that they are out more while there are more people in the zone to kill the wandering undead however I hunted them on my own and saw 3-4 when i was doing that and on average i saw about 1 out of every 3 had the heart so it took me all together 3 hrs of hunting the ghasts of and on to get all of the hearts I needed but I found that it was much better to hunt them while I could go after Thistle Underbrush during the day.
