This item is definitely the bottleneck - took me about 90 minutes of killing all the mischievous batlings to get this to drop.

Been killing the Cave Bat Lord for a few days now, so far has not cast on me, maybe its down to rooting him from behind and him not turning to face me, killed him with DOTS.
Will attck him from the front to see if that makes him cast.

The little SOBs can put up a fight. I've seen mischevious ones, shamen and "spiritualist" (or something like that) - the last ones hit the hardest but have dropped plat at times.
Out of 113 kills, I've gotten these things twice as well as two of the eyes - very rare drops.

yes the Cave Bat LOrd does Cast been camping the king and the rest of the higher lvl mobs for two to three days and have killed him many times while doing my rounds and he does cast.

Mighty Bear Paw - Animal(fear animal spells work on him)
HuntMaster Furrgl - Ranger Mob, has thorns and other ranger abilities
King Gragnar/Prince Bragnar - Shadowknights 24 and 19 respectively.
High Shaman Whatshisname - Of course, a Shaman.
CaveBat Lord, Jailmaster, Foodmaster, Smithy, Packmaster Dledsh, and all the other named mobs are all WARRIORS hence they do not cast spells.
Krode the Diviner - Wizard Mob
Kobold Pitfighters - Monk class
Batlings - Wizard class
Batling Spiritcallers - Shaman
That's the lowdown bro. I hope this clears things up.
By the way, i have spent at least 3 weeks (that's 6-8hours a night) in the Warrens with 4 of my 8 characters. just so you know, Mr "Been-there-for-3-days"

Did this guy personally insult you or something? You may be 100% correct on your info (I don't know), but just because you know something and someone else doesn't, is no need to be so arrogant and snotty about it. Now I'm going to go check it out for myself and if you're wrong, I'll be sure to let everyone know just cause you were such an a$$ about it.
Sorry, Cave Bat Lord casts... may be a warrior with some spells... they do give mobs the ability to do things they're not supposed to.

The Level 12 thing is BS. I Had 4 bubbles of health when i ran into one with my 23 sk. Didnt even know he hit me and i had one bubble left. The good thing is i dont think he will chase you as i made it all the way back to zone without getting hit again, without SOW

They do come off the mischivious batlings but you can't kill them at lvl 12, they are in groups and assist. They are high green to a lvl 25 warrior. The Bat Lord does not drop this and has nothing to do with the batlings from what i've seen. He is in a different place surrunded by giant cave bats and he is a kobold. (he also is not a spell caster)
