Not bad for low levels

This isn't a bad weapon for low level players on a progression server or if you're playing it old school on any of the other servers. It has nice DPS and the high delay means you won't be generating much aggro, which can be good if you are not the MT. If your goal is to generate as much aggro as possible, then this might not be the weapon for you. The 15 weight can be a concern if your STR is not maxed and you'll need a bag that holds GIANT items or an empty inventory slot to carry it if you carry multiple weapons for different situations.

It has an ok ratio and the high delay means it will have a high bonus once you can use bonuses - in all its not very good - if it had its correct graphic (same as the bronze naginata) people would love to own iy as they look way too cool :) Ive left mine in the bank and am waiting till they fix the graphic.
Re: Damage bonus
# Oct 17 2001 at 3:24 PM Rating: Decent
That's the new 2hdr bonus modifier. All 2hdrs now have an additional modifier since the last patch based upon their delay. That bonus will also increase when you raise levels as well...not sure exactly how or in what increments. It was added to make 2hdrs significantly more usefull and viable as a weapon alternative.

I'm 30th and the one I looted is saying +9 I beleive. Problem is that the speed isn't too high over 40. For example, a wieghted axe, speed 150, gives a +41 damage bonus at 30th level - combine that with it's base damage of 45 and my 170ish STR and I can conect for as much as 184 damage - my best double attack with this thing has been for around 350ish - the naganita is just another Shiny Brass Halbred.
mine says 6 dmg bonus
# Oct 15 2001 at 10:30 AM Rating: Decent
Still not sure what that means as i have not tried it yet - was hoping to find out here. Will post results i suspect it will have a minimum damage of 7
Hmmmm....

Just got one last night. Its stats bear a resemblence to the Shiny Brass Halberd. I'd estimate value between 10-20pp.
I got one

Drops in the Warrens

If you'll notice in recent patch messages the Warrens are where the GM's try out new loot rules and other such game ideas. The one loot rule that is in effect in the warrens is if your level is too high for monsters in there then they do not drop rare or uncommon items. Read your old patch messages and you'll see what I am talking about. That's why if any of you high levels are camping in there and your level is overly high for the mobs they will not drop anything that's rare or uncommon
Japanese weaps

I have camped the hell out of the king actually since the warrens came out i spend my time camping him because he gives me good exp and usually when on EQ i am also doing other things so the hour wait isnt to bad for me, but i have never seen him drop this item before, just wondering if anyone here has.

My character's sister deleted her warrior on teh Firiona Vie server last night to start a druid, so she gave me all of her ranger-equippable equipment. I got one of these bad boys, a velium two-handed sword (whoops, time to work on that two-handed slash stat), assorted armor, and about 80 pp. So yes, they do exist. Unfortunately, all my training is in one-handed weapons.

Nah, this thing is real, but consider the fact that this guy drops like 5 million other items, you probably just need some luck to get your hands on this thing.
Still looks like a halbard

As of last i checked this has the appearance of a halbard and not the same cool look of the bronze naginata. I hope they change this item to look like the naginata as it is a very nice looking weapon. Since it is supposed to be a naginata I would think that it should look like one at least since they have a model now in the game for such a weapon.

Naginata is a pole-arm and as such, does look more like a halbard.
RE: Still looks like a halbard

Actually, the equipped Halberd graphic in EQ looks not much like a real halberd at all. A real Halberd was a long spear with an axe blade, sometimes double bladed right under the spear blade.

The "halberd" graphic in EQ would most likely be called a Glaive which is more of a large bladed spear with a hook on one side. (I think. Its been a while since I've reviewed my medieval weaponry)

The new Naginata graphic is actually right on the money. A naginata is a short, slightly curved, single edged sword blade on the end of a long pole. As such, its just like what you see when you equip a bronze naginata.

I am sorry I guess I didn't post clearly enough. And all your words and siacays are correct as best as I know. What I was saying is that yes the bronze naginata looks correct as it should and looks very cool. But the forlorn naginata still has the same look as the halbards that you find in the game (ie glaives in real life), I hope they change this forlorn naginata to have the same graphics as the bronze naginata. For those who saw the bronze naginata and thought they would try and get this for the same look, currently it does not have that look. I just believe it was an oversight and hopefully they will change it in the next patch.

you are right on the weaponry descriptions, mostly. the halberd was a long pole axe. it had an axe blade in front, for hitting hard, a spear point on top for repelling cavalry, and a hook in the back to catch cavalry armor and dismount the rider.

in fact, to take it one step further, the graphic for every partisan in the game is wrong. a partisan was a crecent moon shaped blade with a short sword blade sticking out between the horns of the moon. think trident, only looks much cooler. the guards in disneys Three Musketeers are actualy using partisans (amazing, considering they were actually in use at the time that story was supposed to take place.. disney got the right weaponry for the period).

also, the Yari graphic is off from normal. a Yari was a short, straight bladed, double edged sword on the end of a long pole.

A yari was more like a simple spear, if I recall...

Well, the Japanese made the weapon to suit the person, so the blade length was variable.

But it was simple.
