Book Text:
Captain Norgan's Spiced Jum
A halfling profiteer known as Captain Norgan had it in his mind that he could steal honey jum from the Stone Hive bixies to make a new beverage he would peddle to Rivervale taverns. Stealing from Bixies in Misty Thicket was not adequate to supply his needs.
| He needed more.
He happed upon an opportunity to follow one meandering bixie through many fields and hills until he found a passage into the jumjum fields beyond the Stone Hive gardens.
He discovered that with careful timing and fast feet, he was able to steal a few
|
| jars of honey jum every few days without consequence. And so he continued to steal, every few days, never telling anyone where he was disappearing to. For three years, he told no one of his discovery of the Stone Hive. His Captain Norgan's Spiced Jum became a much sought after commodity and he did not want anyone replicating his great
| recipe.
Norgan became greedy and too bold, sadly. He meandered into the jumjum fields one sunny day and failed to mind the timing of the bixie jumjum guardians as they made their patrol through the fields. He was caught red-handed and was quickly and unceremoniously flayed to the bone for his
|
| actions. But the Bixies were careful to leave one hairy foot behind.
The Bixies left the foot in the field for many years, encased in honey jum -- the very prize Norgan sought -- as a warning to any other halflings that might stray too close to the bixies' most-prized honey jum
| reserves.
