grants you two buffs when cast:

Summon Stoic Wolf Familiar - the wolf familiar, follows you around. can be clicked off of your buff bar, the familiar itself is just for fluff/looks.

Stoic Wolf Familiar - the meat and potatoes of this item. this is the buff that gives the hitpoint regen and double attack mod.

I got my Direwolf Totem of Battle today by doing the following:
1. There is no level maximum. A level 105 SK can get this task. Don't have to shroud down. At all.
2. The task-giver is KOS, but won't attack you and is not attack-able. The name of his faction is Coldeye Clan.
a. The kobolds (that you have to kill to raise your orc faction) in the NW caves of the zone are in the same caves as the cages and pups you will have to feed. Might make a label on your map.
b. Need to be at least Dubious to request task. Here is a website explaining faction. http://wiki.project1999.com/Faction

So, after I killed enough, I got the task, ran back to the caves. It updates when you get to the cages even the cages aren't there. You don't have to open them. They are killabable, fed the pups, killed 10 kobolds and ran back for hail.

3. I clicked the Direwolf totem and it gave me the familiar buff. It wasn't blocked by Knowledge of the Past or Soothing Breath because they are AA's now.

I hope this helps. Shrouding sucks. Especially since you can get over level 100 and wreck the whole zone for a bit to get slayer achievements while you're there.

stacking issues

Does not stack with Breath of Selay, or Form of Rejuvination VI (so limited to no buffs with HP regen)

Beastlord - Summon - go away last 7 hours, then summon pet.

Fix my merchant pet as well sucks I got to kill my pet to summon him.

Beastlord bear pet gets lost all the time in Old Commonlands wont stay with me.

Have someone train out the fort or clear it.

If ure a ranger and have sneak /sneak and hail him, when he turns just go behind him again and say the next line, when he turns again just go behind him again ( still sneaked ) and say the next line again...

easy as cake :)

Typically this can be done if you have skelly pet up first. Beware, when the buff runs out....your skelly pet tends to die as the spell fading kills which ever pet you have.

Same with other clickables with monster (such as fungus familiar from halloween.)

Need faction or Sneak to be indifferent in order to get task. Must stand behind mob. Each line of dialogue makes him face you, so you must again get behind him and stay Sneaked for next line. Not tested, but I believe u can get quest and meat by only saying the last 2 lines of dialogue. If you don't have Sneak, you better shroud it up, or spend eternity trying to get Orc faction.

I summon the wolf pet from the dog whistle at the same time I have my pet out so I would venture a guess and say you can.

Summoning this pet knocks off the new Ranger predator type spell.

Quest name: Free the Wolves

Orc fort Pack Leader Orgak gives the quest for this.

you have to clear the fort to safely talk to him. he'll be kos but wont attack and will give the quest.

don't forget to ask him "what meat" AFTER getting the quest.

you have to go to the kobold caves on the west side of the zone (across from the caves that malgan is in for the caster version). there are 8 tasks:

Find the first cage
befriend the wolf in the first location
Find the second cage
befriend the wolf in the second location
find the third cage
befriend the wolf in the third location
Take Revenge by killing 10 Nightmoon Kobolds
speak with Pack Leader Orgak (this part can be done invis)

you clear the caves, and must break the cages the wolves are in. once they are broken, the wolves will take the meat orgak gives you and despawn.

the cages are on about a 10 min timer, and the rooms repop in about 30-35 mins.

How does the reward for this quest work? Is it a single reward like from a chest at the end or is it a cursor reward that everyone gets at the end?

Also.. I take it that this totem summons a pet to you.. Is this like a swarm pet or does it just hang out with you giving you the extra buffs?

This quest and the other totem quest sounds very interesting to me.
quest
# Oct 10 2006 at 10:58 PM Rating: Default
1. it's a single reward given via cursor ((it's a solo task))
2. it summons a spirit wolf (shaman pet) model FAMILIAR, that only gives you the buff -- does not attack (think wizard pet)

Do you need Faction with the Orc's to get this quest. I tried Wolf Form and it doesn't work to make you indifferent and stop the pup's from attacking? Can someone help with getting this quest?

No, have a friend train out the other mobs. The named (even though they are KoS) are permarooted where they stand, non-aggressive, and will give out the quest and the reward.
