ENC useable

When I first saw that an ENC could use this (first pet Focus item I ever saw that wasn't NEC/MAG/BST only), I wanted nothing more in all the world. I tried camping it, but without much success.

One day, some Guildies were running around in Valdeholm, whacking everything under the bridge (where Dentrik spawns). Knowing I was slavering over this, they sent me a /tell when one finally dropped, around the 3rd or 4th spawn. (Thanks to Braivheart & Bamaden!) So, I hauled butt over and snagged it.

As of right now, this has NO effect on Enchanter pets. I was betting good money that it wouldn't. But since it was All/All, I was praying that, perhaps one day, it would affect our pets. According to Kalysta's post below (or above, depending on sort filter), that hope is not in vain.

I still carry it around with me, even though I have a much better Range item already. I still equip it when summoning a pet, just for giggles. I look forward to the day when it'll summon a DB pet for me. Until then, Shiny Bob will continue to be the HP-challenged Cuisinart that he is. =)

hmm kinda odd last time i checked all other pet focus items were for Mag,necro, and bsty only why did they make this all/all? Knowing this i would say no to any stat increase for druid bear or shammy pet..=-/ Hope to be wrong i have a shammy alt.

Might have been patched when this item was submitted, but the effect every time I seen it looted was Ritual Summoning.

Makes very little sense why they gave this named such a strong focus when the tier 2 quested that is harder to obtain is only Minion of Eternity. Another sony snafu as usual no doubt.

To counter the "get this right" post below, which is blatantly wrong.
unfortunately, sk's, shamans, and druids don't count as a "pet class"

Quote:

For pet classes:
There's a completely different entry in the pet database for every focus that affects a given pet, in addition to the base pet. Each "focused" pet entry is a complete pet in and of itself.

Example: Riza`farr's Shadow (72 Necromancer Warrior pet)
*Currently there's 8 versions of Riza`farr's Shadow in the pet database.
- Base
- Minion of Darkness
- Minion of Eternity
- Ritual Summoning
- Minion of Discord
- Servant of Chaos
- Spire Servant
- Servitor of Scale

When a pet class summons a pet, the server looks at the strongest pet focus they're wearing and summons a pet that's based on that focus. It's not simply the base pet with some buff, it's a completely different pet altogether with its own unique statistics. When you take into consideration the number of pets are available to pet classes, and the number of pet foci that affect those pets, it's easy to see how large that database gets pretty quickly. It's certainly not the most efficient way to handle pets, but it's how they're done currently.

At some point in the future, the developers plan to change how pets are handled, data side, to allow them to be more dynamic (change would be invisible to the player). When that occurs, focused pets for the non-pet classes are entirely possible, as the data side work to maintain them would be minimal. Until then, non-pet classes will see nothing but a "base" pet, regardless of whether or not they're wearing a pet focus at the time of summoning.

OK this isnt a item that makes ur pets lvl higher or have more hps or anything. What exactly this thing does is make your pet hit for more. Approx 50more dmg. So if ur pet is hitting at 99 this will make him hit for around 150 and so on. THIS DOES NOT BRING UP YOUR PETS LEVEL IT ONLY BRINGS UP HOW MUCH THEY HIT FOR!

... why would you put out false info like this ... i am a 74 necro with pet foci ... if i cast my 72 pet without the foci on ... he is LB to me ... and with it ... hes DB ... so before putting out incorrect info ... you may want to experiment and research some more :P

Um no pet foci do raise pet level and hitpoints, as well as dmg output. I hope you don't play a mage.
This thing working?

From what I've seen, no change in pet level when I summon pet with this equipped or not, and I never get a message that it's glowing or anything when I summon a pet with it equipped in range. Yes, my level and pet level are correct for it etc.
This thing working?

I seem to have a problem with this thing(I think) causing my level 70 necro pet to be light blue to me every once in a while.
