the base hp and mana should really be brought more in line with the Charm of Lore in my opinion. This is no easy task to finish and is more of a time sink then doing the Charm of Lore quest.

Needs upgraded IMO
# Apr 14 2008 at 1:15 PM Rating: Decent
I don't think it should be upgraded too much if at all. CoL has many drops from zones for lvl 71+ raid geared people or well geared groups. This charm was designed for more of the casual player. CoL doesn't have 2 slots also.
Success
# Aug 23 2007 at 7:17 PM Rating: Decent
Took me a few days to farm the stuff, was only able to buy Steppes Ore and Basilisk Scale.

Lvl 73 wizard, 200 pottery skill with Journeyman trophy for effective skill of 210. No tradeskill AA's other than all 6 New Tanaan Crafting Mastery. All 3 combines a success, even got one skill up on the first or second combine. Put Slipgear and Wanderlust Guild augs in it.

Complete Failure
# Aug 23 2007 at 1:49 PM Rating: Decent
Base Pottery skill of 264 with Expert Pottery Trophy (+8%) = 285 total
Lvl 67, total 6 aa's none in pottery or tradeskills
3 failures: one on the wheel and 2 in the kiln
I will try again when I invest in some aa's in tradeskills/pottery

IMO there must be some hidden modifier
Not a level or skill restriction
# Jul 31 2007 at 5:00 PM Rating: Decent
Just made mine. Level 66 wizzie with 233 pottery. Had my GM Sculpting knife, so add 5% to that.

Best use for the average geared person
# Jun 04 2007 at 11:48 AM Rating: Excellent
The best use for the average geared tradeskiller who does not have access to the top end raid zone charms is this one. When you add the Wanderlust charm augment and the Slipgear augment the final charm has these stats:

AC+52, STR+58, DEX+58, STA+58, CHA+58, WIS+58, INT+58, AGI+58, HP+350, MANA+350, ENDUR+350, SV FIRE+42, SV DISEASE+42, SV COLD+42, SV MAGIC +42, SV POISION+42

Since both Wanderlust and Slipgear charms are basically solo tasks, its fairly easy to get this charm to significantly powerful. That is fairly high and most ppl can use this as quite a bit better than the charm they are wearing.

ok folks need to know what is everyone level when making this Why would EQ make thsi a 51 req 70 rec item if it appears less then 70 will fail on combine. i have tried this 4 times now and failed all 4 times only on final combine. my level is now 62 used to be 61 on other attempts my skill in pottery has ranged from 210 the first time to 312 for this most recient attempt by the way the 2 and 3 attempts were both over 250 I just dont get it. any hwo guess i can give up wasting my time on this till level 70

any thoughts would be nice but be warned folks if you arnt 70 I wouldnt attempt this combine

The required 51 i would assume is becasue you would need to raise more then one skill over the cap (think its only 1 skill over 200 without AAs?), to do this you need AAs to raise more then one skill and for them you need level 51?

I may be wrong but that is what I am assuming.

I made this on first combine at lvl 54 with pottery at 209 (+5% = 219) maxed Wisdom for my level too.

It's got nothing whatsoever to do with your actual characters level, but your TS skill & INT or WIS.

I did the maths & of the overall 3 sub-combines I had just over a 50% success chance - I was lucky is all.

your characters level should play no part in your chance of being successful at the combine or not, only your skill level in pottery. i was successful at the unfired charm and firing the charm with a skill of 241 (+5% trophy), both on my first try.

maybe you're just having bad luck, unless there's some kind of hidden modifier that factors your characters level into the equation, which i've never heard of.

I'd take a break on the combine and invest some aa's in pottery mastery and salvage perhaps.

Anyone know about where this sits with all skills at 200, and one at 300? Just curious for those who dont want to spend the aa's to get all of their skills over 200.

Personally, Im going to be happy as long as its over 67 hp, as right now Im using the Arena Champions Badge, and only the Wanderlust aug in it. So, if I can use both augs, and get it to the same HP level, thats all Im looking for for now while I get the rest of my TS's up.

Stats are

20 ac

+119 hp/mana/end

w/ wanderlust at 48 hp/mana/end (all but the level 75 stuff)
and slipgear at 35 hp/mana/end

I'm looking at 34ac and 202hp/mana/end, etc ...

To Find charm's power percentage:
Add total skill in tradeskills
minus 700
Divide by 1400

Thats the % power up on the charm. i.e. if you have 200 in each of the above TSs then the charm is at (1400 - 700 )/ 1400 = 50% of the max stats

Any skill less than 100 contributes nothing.

Im not sure about this...

My stats are:
300 smithing
300 brewing
271 pottery
196 JC
160 fletching
135 baking
76 tailoring

added up is 1362 ( not counting the 76 tailoring, as you indicated doesnt count)
(1362 - 700)/1400 = 0.473

now my charm is at 16 AC, 13 stats, 10 saves, and 121 hp/m/e

but by your equation it should be 14 ac, 12 stats, 9 saves, 106 hp,m,e

If we add in the 76 tailoring, it gets a lot closer to being accurate: 0.527

16 AC, 13 stats, 11 saves, 119 hp.m,e

of course there are a ton of rounding issues probably not taken into condsideration.

Or possibly what was said that the average value must be over 100 to count, which is what the formula you gave means. 7 skills adding up to 700 is average 100, whether some are over or under doesn't matter. (skill total - 700) / 1400 is 0 at average of 100, positive for anything more.

Outstanding item for tradeskill maniacs who GM everything.

For anything less, its terribly disappointing. I didn't realize you needed to have ALL tradeskills maxed to get those stats. Being a GM potter, I thought I would enjoy this quest, which is made all with pottery. With 251 pottery skill only, its stats suck.

friend does it with a 200 skill no problem. so what the hell i'll try too. oh but no have to fail at the tune of 70k on final combine. so ok happens so i get the stuff again only 50k this time oh and i spent 3 aa points i had to earn and 60k leveling pottery upto 240 with trophy and figured hell i'm close enoungh. and any guesses on were i failed again. you got it final combine. so ok that was my thoughts on this one. so upset i almost want to quit crafting and i have quite a high skill in all.

I failed the first attempt at artisan's clay, at 210 skill+ geerlok (220).

Made the unfired charm first try, and fired it first try.

Bought the vergalid clay in the bazaar for 6k each, and farmed or vendor dove the rest.

YOu might want to try farming some of the stuff, instead of bazaar purchasing it all. Some, like the steppes reptile meat, is pretty easy to get.

Pardon me for the cluelessness, but how are you spending 50-70k on this combine? Paying extreme bazaar amounts for the drops? If you farm the parts yourself, I'm seeing about a 3k layout for the velium bars plus gems. Are the mob drops really that rare?

Can you raise tradeskills over 200 without the aa's?
tradeskills?
# Nov 01 2006 at 3:37 PM Rating: Decent
Without spening AA points you can only raise one skill past 200. Each of the 6 levels of New Tanaan Crafting Mastery costs 3 AA points.
TSS NOT required

I just want to add that you do NOT need to have The Serpents Spine in order to craft these charms. You just need to have the skills/supplies to make them. Iv got my bakers charm for now, and am working on getting my Artisan Charm. =)
