These are not anywhere near "common."

They are super duper zombie-drool rare.

* Dragoneater (Level: 27) - 8 kills
* Mossback (Levels: 23 - 24) - 8 kills
* Plaguebringer (Level: 23) - 21 kills
* Skycore (Level: 37) - 9 kills

Not a single chest pattern. Just spent 11 straight hours with a 51 warrior and 51 cleric wiping out placeholders non-stop.

This is Everquest's idea of fun. (rolls eyes) Yes, I know, someone will come in as they inevitably do and claim the chest piece is super easy because the first mob they ever killed in Blightfire happened to be Plaguebringer and he dropped the chest pattern "LOL!" and all that. That doesn't account for how many Plaguebringers went before him dropping anything but. So averages can't be inferred from a single lucky kill.

This piece suffers from Everquest's habit of making pieces so hard and rare that by the time you've killed a China's population of the mob, you've outleveled the dumb piece.

As it happens, I inevitably did find it super easy because the first mob I killed in Blightfire happened to be Mossbank and he dropped it...

Actually, it wasn't quite like that, but close. I was mindlessly making my way back to Crescent Reach from POK and I was galloping across Blightfire. Then I stumbled across Mossbank, so I stopped and killed it and tadaaah he dropped the chest pattern.

It's a classic EQ I'm afraid. "Sods law", as some people call it. Rare loot drops when you are least expecting it. If you go after it, it will not drop for years... or so it would feel. In practice it's a game of statistics, so it might be your 1st or 100th kill that drops it. All I can say is, keep trying because it DOES drop. It must.
