Charisma vrs Selling
# Mar 07 2005 at 3:39 PM Rating: Decent
Chembrad you may want to get Opal Encrusted Steins. They give you 25 charisma each. I believe the Split Paw Choker is also A charisma item. With the three of them, you should have no trouble getting a good price with the npc merchants =)

I looted one of these today and the name is changed to A Froststone Stein. Dropped from the Hollow Terror and has the same stats.

well, this is not only for enchanters. I'm an ogre with very poor charisma, and I'm also a blacksmith. I could use this and a crude stein when I'm selling to merchants and when I'm buying things for my smithing. =) If I were in a group with an enchanter, I'd definately let the chanter get it, but otherwise, I'd love to have it nestled next to my crude stein in my backpack.
Excellent item for us chanters
# Jul 21 2001 at 10:51 PM Rating: Excellent
I got mine tonight, looted off a Hollow Crystal, by entrance to the Geonid area. A very fine item for chanters, I have replaced my stein of moggok, and am now holding one crude stein and this. Very handy for reaching that cha 200 barrier as one can equip both, and moving your max mana barrier with int is overrated for enchanters.

The agi from it also bumped my agi up to 80, past the magic 75, so I gain about 40 ac from wearing it. I don't see any immediate application for the cold resist short of special fights and raids, but I don't really feel that is why I am wearing this item. 10 cha and 40 AC should do.

20 CR is good for fighting Wizards, they have many Cold spells. Yes, many Magic and Fire spells, but also many cold spells. Not sure if this changes towards the high end, but I imagine this would be great on a PvP server.

Bah... The Rod is better. Quest is fairly easy too. I had mine at 30 and am still using it (43rd). Rod is +12 Cha and 4ac, and it looks cool. *grins*
Gee...

Another chanter mug.

/bonk verant

The question is, does one replace their Crude Stein or Glamour rod? Now, yes, logically the crude stein has more cha, but few items in the game spam as well as the rod. And it's TARGETABLE spam at that!

Odd

This is a good upgrade to crude stein. The nice resist to cold and agility are great.

But I wonder how would a stein increase charisma, filled with beer a drunk Gnome or High Elf is not very charismatic. Just my 2 cents =)
RE: Odd
# Jan 11 2005 at 9:51 PM Rating: Decent
I think the CHA is from HAVING the beer, not from drinking it.... I would bet that most dorfs would find the owner irresistable with this in hand full of alcoholic drink of any kind... Picture a lip smacking dwarf with beer dripping from his mustache...eh?
nice for trades

I looted one on a hollow crystal that spawned at the begining of the ramp to zone, just before the first geonid.

Our group on Xegony was having a Mid level raid in CC. We had two groups, which were split up. One group camped the queen while the other was knocking the spit out of the terrors. This item dropped and we didn't have a chanter in raid but we did have a bard. Good item to use when charming, I hear. He was happy to see it too.. heh...
Bunch of Drunks
# Mar 22 2001 at 8:12 PM Rating: Default
This is a nice enchanter item.
Only lose 2 cha to Rod of Insidious Glamour and gain a few ac and lots of cold resist.
Heh I just have one question... why are all the good enchanter held items steins, I just got rid of my Stein of Moggok for a rod of insidious glamour. Now I get this and i'm stuck holding two steins again!
"sigh"
I guess Verant thinks all enchanters are drunkards

One nice thing about 2 steins is that if you get charmed (I'm thinking Paw for myself), then you can't actually hurt your fellow group members! They will wonder why you are staring at them silently for minutes at a time LOL!

... Not quite, if you're charmed, you won't melee them but you will cast as if you had all (I repeat ALL) spells available to you at that level memorized and that can be worse.

If anything this is a good resist item. with other decent stats
how about chanters man?
# Mar 13 2001 at 5:11 AM Rating: Decent
Don't knock the stein because it doesn't have Int on it man. Enchanters are Charisma based casters. I am sure they would love this item. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, great for chanters, nice for that 20 vs cold as well...My chanter holds a stien of moggok and crude stien.

This is a nice step up from the crude stien.

Aye, do not knock the Stein dolts, it has the power to warp minds and cause insanity, hehe I like mine indeed.

#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 13 2001 at 4:18 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) this is a pretty crappy item if you ask me, casters wont use it too save slot for +int or +wis item, melee either cant cause of 2HS,b,p or because of duelwield, so all in all i think it is stupid, just my 2cp though
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 13 2001 at 1:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Before you go calling something stupid, learn to spell dual wield. Dual, as in two. Not duel as in duel to the death. What kind of schools are you kids going to these days? And anyway, look at how many enchanters carry crude steins... This would be a better item imho because of the resists.

Hmmm, lore, no drop, worthless (not quite) stats.

Can we say "QUEST"? Maybe we have finally found the item that lests not rogues and enchanters to buy and sell in Crystal Cavers. I can hope anyway.
RE: pretty worthless
# Aug 19 2002 at 7:15 AM Rating: Decent
I tried giving this Stein to every NPC in Froststone without success: they all gave it back to me. Now, granted, I am 'Dubious' to everyone there, but I think I still would've gotten *some* sort of reaction if the Stein was part of a quest they give out.

That said, I still think it is a Quest Item, but either:

1) My faction is too poor to get any sort of reaction when presenting a bonafide quest item;

2) The Quest is given somewhere else;

3) The Quest the Stein is part of is broken.

I think #3 is the most likely case, as I've heard that there are several broken quests and unprogrammed faction adjustments in this Zone. I'll still keep hold of my Stein for a while just in case I come across something.
RE: pretty worthless

That plus 10 cha makes a nice bonuse to anyone who wants to buy from a vendor. That 10 Agi is good for anyone who doesn't want to get hit as offen, if encumbered. And that plus 20 cold resist is nuts when fighting monsters with a cold based attack. As a chanter I would easily drop my insidious rod of glamor and equip this instead. I loose 2 cha, but would pick up that insain cold resist.

Ok..yeah..it IS annoying when someone doesn't read the obvious answer above, but there's no call for rudeness. Just answer it and point out that it was already above. They will feel dumb enough when they look. Get a grip on yourseld. You aren't perfect either!
Hollow Crystal

actually it's not the Hollow Terror. Person just confused 2 names together. Terror Carver and Hollow Crystal. The stein drops from the Hollow Crystal.
