Not just CHA, but weight
# Nov 01 2001 at 4:15 PM Rating: Decent
I think what folks might be forgetting is that wood elven rangers are notoriously weak. The weight of this armor for the AC is good for them. Later in life (assuming that you're non-twinked), there will be a decision to be made for weight vs. AC if you want to invest in Banded But for the lvl, this is good armor for a wood elven ranger.

Wonder if that's why it's 'Faydark Ringmail' .... :-)

If you're looking for an awesome chest piece to offset low STR for a chain class, it doesn't get much better than Ry'Gorr Battle Mail. AC 18, Weight 1.0 STR +10, Poison +5 Mana +20.

The extra 9 stones of weight you can carry goes a long way. Add in rings or earrings (which weigh next to nothing) that have a STR buff, and even the weakest PC doesn't have to worry about low STR.

I'm not really sure I would shell out money for this stuff, though. If I was in FV and didn't have better equipment than this already, I'd do the quest to get it, but there are better things you can be saving your money for.

Oh, yeah. The graphic on this is identical to the Ry'Gorr graphic only in green instead of the whitish-metallic color of the Ry'Gorr, and I hate the cliche of rangers running around in green armor all the time.

I think the whole point to the quest, unless you are twinked or can afford better, is that you earn Experience and gain FV faction as well as the armor.
This quest is a lead-in for the Goblin Warbead quest. I'm not familiar enough with the Warbead quest to describe it in more detail as I still kill Battlemasters and Aggressors solo (when I'm not grouped at the Sarnak Fort).
It looks almost like Ivy Etched and has fooled me a time or two.

"Charisma is just for bards, chanters and shamans"?
<cough>

Did you ever realize that charisma has a significant impact on the prices you buy and sell from merchants (faction even more, but assuming you can't improve faction any further, you *need* charisma)

Example: selling regular lightstones with a good faction
75 cha: 7 gold 7 silver
85 cha: 8 gold 8 silver
100 cha: 1 pp 1 gold

well, 2 gold difference may not seem much, but if you want to do class specific armor quests, you need one or more gems (like for the cleric armor, bard lambent, paladin ro armor).
and there it's 10-30 pp difference in the price between 75 and 100 Charisma.
Put on some (expensive) charisma jewlery and this nice set of armor (total 25 cha .. would cost a fortune in player-made prom-jewlery :) and even a gnomie can hit the 100 Cha :)

This doesn't justify getting a Faydark Ringmail cloak. There are many easy to get charisma items out there and jewellers also make nice charisma jewellery that people can put on whenever they use a vendor.

So, for every day use, Charisma IS only good for classes that mezz, charm, etc, etc, etc.

Charisma Items - try to find one with decent Charisma where "level to obtain" is lower than 20

Sure jewlers make charisma items - but only for neck/ring/earring slot and the cost for enchanted platinum and better (for a *good* charisma boost) is really high.

And i have to agree with the post that this quest
can be done at 15 (with a group) - i got 4 bracers from goblins in LOIO, starting from lvl 16.

If you don't consider buying and selling as "everyday use" - ok - go ahead and waste your plat - or trying to learn a tradeskill like smithing and fletching, where you have to buy all the ingredients.
A Dwarven Blacksmith will surely appreciate the "everyday use" (not combat-use) of a complete set of FayMail + other Charisma items - saves hundreds of plat.

Silk Evening Tunic. +5 CHA, purchasable from Iala in South Qeynos.

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1947

While the race limits cut down who can use this, if you can make it part of your buy/sell gear, it's easy enough. For a +5 neck item, the Split Paw Tooth Necklace... or the Medal of Merit quest which I pulled off on my ranger the first time I saw Gnasher on track.

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=247

Both of these were relatively easy to get and tack on a +10 CHA when I need it. Helps roll in the cash when selling those rare forages. ;)
this armor is good for

I am on the tribunal server send tells To Munchin or Aleslosh, I will pay quite well!

Who would pay for this item when banded has better ac and is much cheaper?

Were you selling to friends?
is it better?
# Apr 27 2001 at 9:37 AM Rating: Default
So is this a better deal than banded? banded has 15 ac with a 7.5 wt. The ac is higher but at a higher weight, is the AC a better deal? Bards, obviously would benefit from them and shammy would as well when it comes to charm animals, but in general, is the faydark better? We are only talking about 3ac on the coat and 1ac on most other items.
RE: is it better?
# Dec 17 2001 at 5:26 AM Rating: Decent
Depends what race you are. I primarily make small banded, as it fits all the elf races in addition to midgets, hehe. A small tunic weighs 5.5, with 3 more AC than this.

However, that is no reason to NOT do this quest. Charisma is highly undervalued, especially for tradeskillers as brought up in another rply. Being a blacksmith, I'd love to have a full set of this armor in addition to my cha jewlery for smithing, it would save me hundreds, even thousands of plat when I start making plate.

Of coarse, I'd never have a reason to wear it in battle, Banded is much betta for me.
Level 30?!
# Mar 24 2001 at 10:02 PM Rating: Default
I was in Ill Omen and made about three of these things pretty easily. The battlemasters were all blue to me when I did it, and I was only level 17 when I got my first one. A level 30 can still do it I guess, but why wait until you can't get experience?
RE: Level 30?!
# Jun 04 2001 at 9:43 AM Rating: Default
I have a 31 warrior and i was looking for the bracer and i found a battlemaster and it was so easy to kill so by then i went to FV and found some Battlemasters and they where white and blue to me so that is why they say 30 and they hit for dubble what the Lakes ones hit for i almost died a few times b/c i had a spider and a battlemaster beating me up but i have got a few bracers not common did i get them but every once in a wile i got one....have fun and good luck if you are looking for the guest items

I sold one of these for 30pp I imagine its worth more however. Also the quest is more like lvl 20 than 30.

I sold two of these tunics for 40pp each. They are pretty easy to attain for 40pp.
