Just tried searching it up and got over a hundred items spelled "mithril" but not this one no.
I just bought it for my SK for 1500pp. Awesome axe. Goes cheap in the bazaar too.

I saw below in some of the posts that people were wondering where this drops: I got mine in Dragon Necropolis..but the other I've seen on Xev was dropped in Skyshrine (so effectively it appears to be dragon loot specifically). If anyone else has seen one drop in another zone, please post! (And yes the axe graphic is dull but that makes it a larger and more fun surpise when you hit for 200 with it in later levels).

This thing has been on auction in bazaar for 2k over the last several days (love the new UI btw). I'd have bought it but blew all my pp on other upgrades. Seems like a reasonable price to me though obviously well below some of the other prices listed here per other servers. However, the fact that it's been available for some time leads me to believe that 2k may even be a little high for Veeshan. Anyway, for what it's worth, there's what info I have...

Fabbil ...though you are correct by saying it isnt a fake, which has been established clearly in all the posts below, i suspect that you are lying about actually having one. you referred to it as a sword, though it is most definately a 2 edged axe, strangly though it has the standard one edged axe icon...

Shame it looks like an Iron Back when wielded, but 51 ranger with about 140 str I have been hitting mid 150's with this thing and think highest was 159 (may be buffed), its a very nice item and not as heavy as most slashers either.
Selling it on Brell as I want my 1h slashers back :)

Average Price ive seen is about 12 to 15k (from what ive seen)...Very nice wep...Kinda boring graphic but hey...with dmg/delay like that id let the numbers look good =)

I'm a level 51 Paladin and I have one of these. The damage is incredable. My str is 164 and I hit for average damage of 85 and max damage of 140. With 30% of the hits being over 100. I retired my Wurmslayer - Shield of the Water Dragon combo to do some real damage.

I am not sure where it drops but I bought one for 7K in freeport just the other day, got it on my SK and he hits for 115 often at lvl 35. Give Mordrak a tell on Drinal if you wanna see it sometime.

Got one last night on my Skyshrine raid among lots of other things, but yah, it's real...Gave it to a SK friend. Drops off wyverns btw, and prolly cubes.

Most likely its not a fake. Its a prety nice weapon but not that amazing to be made up. Also Skyshrine is a decently high level zone so its worth the risk :)
MY LORD!!! This is one sweet weapon. I'm trying to think of a non-quest item that can compare. And just to be able to say to someone who asks, "This is my Skull Splitter. Shall I show you how it works?"

Proper spelling is Mythril. . . but thats of the base metal before is folded. Once folded and tempered its known as mithril, but still often called Mythril, as MYTh still leads those skeptics to believe its not real, but infact a very old and rare ore almost depleated in the realms.
Sorry this is just all common knowledge for AD&D buffs hehe, was a weapons master in AD&D with my warrior, and sorta learned reasons of why things names varry some place to place.

Awhile back Verant adjusted the damage level of 2h weapons. Essectially if the delay of the weapon was 40+ then there was I think a 10% dmg bonus added. If the weapon fell between 30 and 39 then no dmg bonus was applied, and if the weapon was below 29 delay then it suffered a 10% dmg reduction.
So many items with 40 delay are heavily sought after cause that is the lowest delay you can have and yet still get the bonus applied.
PS I know 40 delay is the correct number for the dmg bonus but I'm not 100% sure on 29- being the damage penalty.

i dont know about the damage reduction on lower then 29 but my friends 51st ranger with a Silver Swiftblade (2HS 16/24) hits in the upper 70's with only like 125-130 str...not that 10% more or les would make *that* much of a difference...70ish damage at a 24 delay ratio is nice...
I believe the max damage is larger on higher delay weapons, as in a 20/40 weapon won't do the same maximum damage as a 20/50 weapon.

Just wondering... do you (or anyone) know if haste affects this? Like say you have a 20dmg 40delay 2hs and a Flowing Black Silk Sash... do you still get the bonus? Or because now the delay is below 40 you no longer get the bonus? Just curious (since I have a Mithril 2 hander 21/40 with perm haste for those that don't know).
