As of a Spring 2013 patch, there is now an undead version of the bridle: Ghostrider's Spirit (summoned automatically as an alternative to this "live" version, if you don't already have it).

This is the fastest possible mount.

I guess someone beat me to it since collector wasn't working on Test :( lol

The item it summons now is this:

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=111837

When you click Ghostrider's Bridle it will summon that item onto your cursor if you don't already have it. You can still use the mount on Ghostrider's Bridle as well, it simply puts the new skeletal horse on your cursor.

As of a patch awhile back, clicking this mount will summon the following item to your cursor.

I have yet to get Ghostrider's Bridle to create this version and submit it to you guys, but I know a few others on Test that have it and they linked it to me.

This should be on Live by now, as the patch that put this in was last month (May 15th).

Gain access to Deathknell, succeed at the task "The Toiling of Dissonance Bells" inside.

Easy as eating pie with a fork!

So this is a plain ole Tan horse model, and it moves like an Ornate/Glowing/AA Knight horse for speed correct ?

Anyone actually have it that can confirm it ?

Yes it is a plain brown nag. :( Fast but still plain and brown.
Why would somebody put this in ranged slot?

Because you don't get any stats from an item in ammo slot. Therefore, if you put it in ammo slot, all you have is the clicky.

=p standered EQ protocal you don't know something so you make it up.

Pally/sk horses believe it or not are the same speed as ornate ones. I know this from the horse races GM's hosted on xegony server not long ago

Actually the Pal/SK horse is much faster than the 100k horse, it's similar to run9.

Of course they're faster than the 100k horse. He's talking about the ornate bridle, not the 100k one.
The Speed Order
# Sep 22 2006 at 2:09 PM Rating: Decent
Fastest Movement Speed in Game is:

1) A GM (Infinite Parameter Movement Speed)
2) Macroquest2 Superduperreallyghettospeed Plug-in (Multi-Thousands Parameter)
3) Bard (150-200'ish Parameter)
4) Pally/SK Horse (Approx. 100)
5) Ornate Bridles (Lord Inquisitor Seru/Emp Ssrae/Gloing Drums (Casino) (80'ish)
6) Bazaar Chain (70's)
7) Bazaar Silk And on. (60's)

Note: GM's just type it the number of parameters they wish to travel.
It can be 1, 500,000 or a million. Whatever they type in is how much area their character model will cover with each step.

That's a new one on me.

GM's and guides use a clicky that gives the buff called "Spirit of Norrath" , but I suppose they have upgraded by now since bards were outrunning them during PoP.
When they aren't using their speed clicky, they simply /goto playername or /coord to a location number.

Bard speed maxxed at 215% runspeed with full mods.
Pally and sk horses came in at 200% runspeed, which is what I believe Spirit of Norrath was at.

The ornate bridals were at 190-195% runspeed.
Fastest purchaseable was at 185%

Macroquest lets them go the fastest available in game, but without the slow start-up, or just warp to people or spots instead.

The rest weren't important enough to remember.

Sorry I made one small typo in my post and for some reason it wont let me edit.

The line where I say:
Quote:

So White Chain Bridle and Holy Steed both summon the EXACT same horse, that horse is called "SumHorseWhFast"

Should actually read as:
Quote:

So White Ornate Chain Bridle and Holy Steed both summon the EXACT same horse, that horse is called "SumHorseWhFast"

Black Ornate Chain Bridle
Black Ornate Chain Bridle and Barding
White Ornate Chain Bridle
What Ornate chain Bridle and Barding
Glowing Black Drum
Class V Collapsable Roboboar
Ghostrider's Bridle
Summon Holy Steed
Summon Death Charger (unholy steed)
Summon Holy Steed (warhorse version)
Summon Death Charger (warhorse version)
Valiant Steed (unicorn)
Abysmal Steed (nightmare)
Brown Ornate Chain Bridle (stormhammer)
Glowing White Drum (possible stormhammer item, only black drum is from casino)
Glowing Red Drum (see above)
Glowing Green Drum (see above)

Are all the EXACT SAME speed. I didn't include GM mounts or the 3 charge horse bridles from stormhammer.

All the raid mounts and the casino drogmor are confirmed equal speed to the knight AA's by Zajeer during PoR beta. To see an exact quote go look up my posts under the emp and seru horses right here on alla.

If you still want further proof go look up the spells themselves on lucy or in the spell_us.txt file in your EQ directory.

All mounts are classified in the exact same manner in the spell file:

Sum[ANIMAL][COLOUR][SPEED]

The only speed choices are "slow1" (equal to rope bridle for horses) "slow2" (leather bridle) "run1" (silk bridle) "run2" (chain bridle) and "Fast".

Everything I listed in the beginning of this post list "Fast" as their speed classification.

So White Ornate Chain Bridle and Holy Steed both summon the EXACT same horse, that horse is called "SumHorseWhFast"

Likewise Black Ornate Chain Bridle and Death charger (unholy steed) BOTH summon a horse called "SumHorseBlFast"

In my posts on the emp/seru horse pages, which were posted before this item was discovered, I predicted that the ghostrider bridle would be a tan horse. It is tan. So the classifications in the spell files can be read accurately.

Theres still so much misconception about mount speeds that its sickening. Knight horses are EQUAL speed to raid dropped mounts, and no mount is faster than maxed selos.

Pally and SK are the same speed. 200% runspeed.
Only a bard, fully mod'd can beat them, at 215% runspeed.
Fastest bazaar horse is about 180-185% runspeed.

I think seru/emp horse is between knight and baz horse somewhere, but really closer to knights.

Actually, a maxed bard is 256% (+156). Coming in #2 is 250% speed (+150). A lot of mounts have this mod: SK/pally mounts, emp/seru dropped horses, and finally the glowing drum drogs you can win in the Shadowhaven casino with a gold ticket. #3 is the useless Spirit of the Cheetah at 215 (+115). Closely behind are the bazaar buyable 100k(ish) horses at 214 (+114).

For comparisons sake, spirit of the wolf is 155 (+55) when it's cast by a lvl 50+ and run speed 3 is 130 (+30).

A complete list of all speed buffs can be found at http://samanna.net/gen.info/buffs.shtml about halfway down the page.

this horse looks exactly like a regular tan coloured horse. It is the exact same speed as emp/seru/SK/paladin/casino mounts.
