This also drops off of a DiZok Legionnaire. I got one while camping an iksar betrayer for my monk epic (near Ancient Guardian and bridge camp). Was definitely off him and not some other DiZok... confirmed.
Indeed. I got one for exactly the same reason. It's dirt cheap (60 plat) and pretty quick, I went from 31 to 53 in a few sessions in Dulak Harbour. The clicky atone I also find handy, as when travelling I no longer have to swap out a spell slot, just root, Atone and carry on
This is also a good spell/effect to use for instance, if someone trains you/your group with half dead mobs. A friend of mine had several hill giants (3 or 4 I think) trained on him by a lvl 60, each had less than 50% health so that he wouldn't get any exp (yes he petitioned it), however my good thinking chanter friend used mem blur (very similar chanter spell) and his group got the exp for each one =). Another good combination for clerics is: park mob with instill, stop group members hitting it and get them to back off (important for pacify and so they don't re-agro) Then atone Then pacify. And the mob will forget it ever agroed on you, and you have a few minutes where it won't agro on you or anybody else unless they hit/cast on it. This is a very useful combination, has saved me many times when getting agroed walking through zones, or for removing adds when a chanter isn't around. Be warned though, atone can fail without telling you, apparently sometimes it just wipes your hate/damage list and not everybody's, but most of the time it will work on mobs around your lvl and lower. Also, dare I say it, it could be used to let another player get the exp (root, nuke, atone, let other finish it off and get all the exp), not that I suggest you abuse this effect in that way.
I thought that if someone zones (or dies) after doing more than half the damage, the exp then goes to the person or group who does more than half on the remainder. So if, for instance, a trained mob has 40% left, and a few groups are derailing the train, the group that does 21% or more will get the exp. Is that right?
Aye, that's right. From the moment a person zones or the mob is successfully blurred, whichever party does the most damage to the remaining hp of the mob will get the xp.
This, as with many items from chardok, can come from any creature in the zone. (except the slaves of course) When a sarnak is carrying it, it is Usually (but not always) equipped.
As to it's effectiveness. It's 2 handed nature, combined with the total lack of mana or wisdom, make it undesirable for conditions where you are going to be healing. Cleric OOM = bad, and Cleric losing both hand's mana/wis items = Cleric with less mana to start with.
Keeping it on hand is not a bad idea however. Complete heal, group heals, etc.. tend to draw unwanted love from mobs, and if you can toss this on, and manage to use it without interruption, you're usually safe to sit.
The damage/delay make it a good greenie thumper, and for those instances where your healing ability isn't crucial, this is a fair weapon to get in and melee with.
Don't be afraid to get in there and take a few hits when it's safe ;) they increase your defence so you take fewer hits when it's NOT safe.
Yes, this can come from different mobs in the zone, just like many other items in Chardok. Tonight partner and I got 2 while camping zone-in along with chokidai spaulders and the withered staff. The staffs came off the sarnaks and they were not shown wielding them, which gave us a surprise each time we looted one. =) good luck to ya finding em. Too bad both staves were listed 50-100pp in bazaar when we finally logged for the night, at least my partner could actually use them on his chars.
This is a GREAT item any time. Especially when the cleric is OOM ant the tank is dying, and the enchanter is also OOM. Just click and the problem just goes away. Or at least doesn't want any more trouble.
My cleric friend got this the other day in chardok going in. She uses it constantly. From what I see, a cleric can get some severe milage out of this one.
As for chanters, by the time you can get this, they shouldn't have mana problems in most areas. Those coming to mind on the exclude list are- hole jail, velks spiders. The answer is theft of thought. All you must do is park a caster with mezz and the mana problem will disappear! Don't discount this one as I did when you first see it, these sorts of items are great when you get to using it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spell cast on you: You feel forgiveness in your mind. Spell cast on someone: Soandso calms down.
Ever have something agro on you after healing someone in the group? Ever been in the situation where no matter how much the warrior taunts it wont get off you? Well this is a answer to that. Not a bad little item once you think about it :o) well good hunting and safe journey to all.
So you NEVER melee, EVER? Personally I'd love one of these just to have for when that stupid green aggros me travelling around, I can either beat it down with the nice dam/del of this or stun them and atone them and walk away peacefully. Also handy for PL sessions or farming trade skill items as stated below.

Found in Chardok 06/02/01 from "a Sarnak Vindicator." Guessing it to be in the 48-50 level range. Unsure of the placeholder for this mob, but it wandered into us near the fort where the Sarnak Arbiter spawns.

Three: Atone is one of those spells where it's useful, but not so useful you want to have it memmed in place of a buff or heal or stun, this weapon is nice that way
Four: A lot of people are overlooking a very important thing: the ratio! 11 24! I know paladins and SKs wielding weapons that don't have that good a ratio. Call me crazy (heck.. everyone else does...) but I like to jump in with a little melee now and again. If I'm FM I can jump in and dish out a good 22 damage a pop with this thing at 24 delay. that's really nice IMHO. Also being a smith I hunt for leather padding a lot, this is nice for taking down YKs and Kodiaks without wasting mana.
Personally I wish I'd gotten it myself but in all honest I bought it for 350. Shows how much people care about this item, someone gave it to a newbie level 12 cleric and then I bought it from him.

Personally whenever I'm running anywhere I keep Atone memmed... so when a pesky green aggroes me when I'm still a mile from the zoneline I can get it to forget about me rather than chase me for the next 10 minutes as I haul my slow *** across one of the many huge Velious zones. This'd be a pretty funky weapon if I ever get my hands on it.
Secondly, this is the fastest 2HB weapon in the game, to my knowledge (even faster than the abandoned orc shovel)... so it'd be good for skilling up. 'course it's cleric only, and few clerics melee, but still; if you like keeping all your skills maxxed because you're **** like me, this is a good weapon to do so with.

Since every third comment here seems to be "Monks should have been able to use this. Monks should always get that, Monks, monks, monks..", there weren't enough on this item post..

There is an 8/20 monk weapon... I have one. Can't remember where it drops. I think they were just discussing fast 2hb weapons. No one said that this one was for a monk.
This item drops in chardok near the King area. I dont remember the mob we got it from, but I was lucky enough to win one. I have no clue how much it is worth, but I am definately holding on to it.
You can not get down to the king without several strong groups, atleast lvl 54-60
Well here's my question to anyone else who has one of these. I ended up trading for one of these to use on my twinked out cleric. The reason for doing this was simple. To PL friends whenever I want to very easily. Atone is like Mem Blur for those of you who don't know what the effect does. It basically wipes away the hate list that a mob has so that after a mob has been atoned whoever does 50.1% of the damage after gets the kill and the exp. I was planning to use this to do most of the damage on mobs and then atone them so a friend can kill and get the exp. My cleric is now level 42 and is still "too low level to use this effect" or whatever the heck it says when i try. I'm wondering if anyone knows when this effect kicks in. My best guess is 45 like the donal's, ES, DW and other types of armor effects that are out there. But if anyone knows for sure I'd love the info. Thanks!

This item is 2HB? I can not see giving up both hand slots on an item with "ATONE" for an effect and no other stats. Atone has it's uses but to give up the AC from your shield and what ever stats can be gained from your shield and weapon/primary, is just completely nuts in my opinion.
If it were very light I might carry it in my bag for when I needed Atone, but at 10 stone =\.
Now on the off chance it can be used below LVL 34 then it might be of use to lower LVL clerics, but if it drops in any of the middle to upper dungeons in Kunark a lower LVL cleric couldn't get one unless he's a twink.
Also it does have good dmg but very few cleric over lvl 20 ever do a lot of fighting, we do some but not a lot.
So in my opinion this weapon would be great for a lvl 10 Cleric if it would proc for him.
