It’s been almost a year since someone posted here, so I thought I’d add a bit of an update. With the addition of Luclin, Lake of Ill Omen is much less populated than it used to be. There are usually only about 20 people in the zone at any one time. So there is much less competition for the goblins than there used to be. And with the addition of Planes of Power, it’s a bit easier to reach the lake for non-porters. So this quest is very doable if you so desire.

I’m gathering a set of visible armor pieces because I like the look of it. I’m outfitting my bazaar vendor in it. But to be honest, the most fun I’m having is buffing the lower level characters that are there for experience.
Can i get a price on these..

Just wanted a pc on these boots I have a bard and the cha. would be nice at least to go with the rest of my charisma gear I am trying to stockload.
Good Armor

This armor is easy to get and is good if you are a jeweler who is buying expensive gems and jewlery. A suit of armor that gives you plus 25 charisma helps a lot.

BTW i got 7 bracers in about a half our with a group, not many people know about this quest it seems.
Rogues dont get kick if thats what you were saying

Great for bards and low cha races

At first when I saw this stuff I alnost laughed, but then I realized its not bad at all for bards. I mean you get cha for mezes and Im sure when someone inspects you it looks a lot better then plain old banded. This is also good for dwarfs, ogres, trolls, and all the other low cha races( Hint iksar).

The Bracers do drop.. i didnt get any the first 12 kills or so but was only gettn the battlemasters as i saw them.. Then i tracked them and killed them quick as i could and the bracers seemed to drop more often.. The bracers are there.

I started picking this stuff up yesterday. Not quite as good as banded, but not as heavy either.
I've found Battlemasters to be plentiful around the Windmill in LOIO and drop the bracers about 1 in 3 times.
boots with an ac of only 5 that aren't magic?

Maybe its me but to waste your time to do this quest for a pair of boots that only give ac 5 and 2 cha without them being magic seems worthless. By the time you can do this quest I would assume you already have some better boots. Heck, you can do the crafted boots quest by now and that yields some nice mid level booties that are magic.

Don't forget, you can keep a full set of this "crap armor" in the bank and pull it out if you do any heavy buying and selling with merchants.

At least, that's what I do...

Bards, like me, who need to increase their CHA scores for mezzing and charming. That is, before Lambent.

What does magic armor do that regular armor doesn't?

you can't kick wisps or other magical mobs without magical boots
Kick
# Feb 16 2001 at 2:05 PM Rating: Default
Not all classes have kick, you know. The only ones that do would be warriors and I think rangers.

not true at all, rogues and monks need kick for instill doubt as well as bards, a monk also needs them because kicks are one of their most useful moves.
Level to attain not 30

You can do this quest starting around level 15. The bracers drop in Lake of Ill Omen and Warsliks Woods from battlemasters there.

Not likely. The battlemasters they are referring to are found in FV and are around level 30.
I have leveled up several characters in LOIO and Warsliks and have killed hundreds of the low level battlemasters. They never ever dropped bracelets.

I never used to see these drop in LOIO until about 2 weeks ago, since then I've been getting these pretty commonly off the battlemasters near the gob ruins windmill area

they maybe rare but I killed one in WW and got a bracer last saturday.

I've put together nearly a full set of the stuff exclusively from hunting goblin battlemasters and brawlers (yes they drop bracers too) in Lake of Ill Omen. They seem to be an uncommon drop at best, but my ranger could take battlemasters solo at level 20... and possibly a few levels earlier. The stats on these aren't great, but they're nice for bards (boosts cha for charming, etc) and they look like ivy etched. All in all, not a bad upgrade from banded, at least for the looks :)
Barbs
# Feb 14 2001 at 11:22 PM Rating: Default
Maybe Barbs can wear the boots, but they can't do the quest. Or any other quests in FV. Damn puny elves and their puny doors.

Get a shrinking potion, it worked for me :)

FYI, the doors are plenty tall enough for barbarians to get through. The problem is they are too narrow. Suck in that gut.
