My warrior is lvl 20 and wearing this neck, though it doesn't give any haste yet but he does get the stats. What lvl does the haste affect your character?

OK, having read this entire page, lemee condensse it for you, so you dont waste your time like I did. This item has 41%haste. Lord Yelinak is incredibly hard to kill, you need 50 people all level 60 or so (give or take, of course). This means that you can go to Western Wastes and get a different Talisman for turn in for the ST key with much less effort. Because this item has haste at 41%, it is worth keeping. The specific stats on this item(plus mana, haste, wis/int) make it most useful to a hybrid class. Paladins and Shadowknights would benefit most from this. A ranger would also benefit from this, as he or she could dump his or her epic for a better weapon and use this for haste. Since only someone in a massive, powerful guild could possibly have any chance of getting this, and massive, powerful guilds have their own special loot rules, if you don't happen to be in a massive, powerful guild, dont even bother dreaming of this, or posting, its a waste of time. You want it. I want it. Everyone could use it. Don't waste your breath telling us you want it, go level your char to 60+ and join a massive, powerful guild.

can you say massive, powerful guild ONE MORE TIME.

It doesnt take a massive, powerful guild. As with almost all mobs in EQ, some sound tactics and a good game plan combined with some dedicated high level players can do this mob with ease.. maybe 18 lvl 65s with a good MA and a decent heal rotation can take Yeli out.

Id also use the neck piece as a haste item unless i got the head and id turn it in for the gloves which also have haste, since im a warrior.

I have been on 3 raids so far and have done so with the above mentioned numbers.

** ohh forgot to mention...they were all non-guild raids.

its for just that reason actually that those classes (rogue, ranger, beast, and now zerker) are actually placed near last in line to get 41% items to replace that epic. Namely, they're seen as having "easy to obtain" 41% hastes already, and have to wait for everyone else to loot one, before they can replace their epic haste.

sucks, but its true.

Many things have happened since last I posted about this item and now I have actually participated in Yelinak killings, so I speak from experience. By the time your guild is able to kill Yelinak, they will probably have been acquiring ST keys for quite some time. Unless your server is one of the lucky few that has not had the Sleeper awakened, your guild will get ST keys much faster than it gets primal. The bottleneck for getting primal into your guild will be the rate at which primal drops and the competition for it from other guilds, not the rate at which you can get ST keys. This being the case, the Yelinak talisman ends up being used as a piece of equipment, not for a key as I said it did earlier. Nobody will go without primal in your guild for lack of a key from a Yelinak talisman.

In almost any guild, this will go to melee first, then, eventually, to other classes that want it. However, you will probably be killing Yelinak for many months before a non-melee gets this unless you are on a point system. Even an "uber" guild doesn't get 40% haste items as fast as its members would like and this is quite a desirable item.

Regarding someone that said monks and rogues get 40% haste on their epics: This is true, BUT rogue epic haste is item haste (which does not stack with the talisman haste), and monk epic haste is song/spell haste (which stacks with talisman haste). Ranger epics also give 40% item haste by the way. So, monks (along with some other melee types) actually are on the "short list" for getting this item.
RE: Regarding fate of this item
# Feb 01 2003 at 8:10 AM Rating: Default
With regards to your haste summary, you are correct but you forget one thing:

When either monks OR rogues are hasted by the enchanter, their haste is maxed so this item does not affect either one if both have epic haste. Both will be 100% hasted.

If you're killin yelinak and ******* over the haste on this item, well then somethings wrong. SoV is 68% haste, therefore 32% is the max that you need from an item, and if EVERY melee in your guild don't have Cowl or better haste by now, you're not killin yelinak. So this item should go to whoever needs the stats, not the haste, IMHO.

Less of course you're on Xev like me and it goes to a non ST key holder so the point is moot for us :P.

Btw, blows me away that dragons that are easier than him drop better loot. WTG verant/SoE.
RE: Regarding fate of this item
# Feb 15 2003 at 12:21 AM Rating: Default
Just a clarification since you are obviously not a monk.

Rogues and Rangers have epics that give item haste. Monks have an epic that gives a song haste which does stack with spell hastes, but not the haste portion (there is also ac and atk on monk epic song.)

I do have to agree on the loot thing tho. Yeli's loot sux overall.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 08 2003 at 4:52 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Just clarification since you are obviously not reading the thread you responded to.
RE: Regarding fate of this item
# Jul 30 2004 at 1:35 PM Rating: Decent
Wow, very very incorrect info here. Monk epic haste does not stack with SoV, due to the attack portion of the buff. Even if monk epic haste was allowed to be in the buff window at the same time as SoV, the haste portion wouldn't stack... monk epic haste is considered SPELL haste.

With regards to this item.... this item should go to WHATEVER class needs a 41% haste upgrade... not any class in particular.

RE: Regarding fate of this item

Monk epic is 41% haste
Ench haste is like 60x % up to 70% at lvl 62
Misc bard haste
Monk epic haste will not stack with any spell haste out there exept for bard special songs.
The icon will apear and you will get the 53 atk 12ac not sure on stats but the haste will not stack.
Haste item 41% Spell haste 70% 111% haste cap is 100 or 110 not sure heard somwhere that it's up to 110 at lvl 65 but dont quote me on this i am not sure.

You dont use this or any of the 5 talismans to open the door to Jaled, you need a totaly differant no drop key, the key requires a quest to complete which requires zlandicars heart and something off a rare or uncommon cant remember which mob in DN (some rat), sub quest gives a crappy one handed blunt with bone melt and jaled key.

RE: Best Neck in Game ?? Possibly So
# Sep 16 2002 at 11:39 AM Rating: Good
If you get to this point in the game, you aren't using that necklace for anything but a ST key... if you kill Yelinak with the intention of using his Talisman because it has haste on it... perhaps your guild should reconsider it's motives, and realize the other mobs with uber drops that are as easy as or easier than Yelinak.

The only way somebody is going to keep this as a neck item rather than a keyring item:
1) absolutely everybody in the guild has a Tomb key and they are going around for second. (yay!)
2) person designated this item for turn-in already has another first brood talisman (hmm)
3) player goes rengade and does not turn it in as ordered for a key (mine, mine, all mine!)

I have this talisman and won't like giving it up BUT I will greatly appreciate the Key.
The sooner the better, too.

PPL need to catch a clue when they read about uber items. "This should go to Warrior" posts are rediculous when you are talking about an item that is used for quests, particularly when it is Sleepers Tomb Key. Catch a clue, it is going to go to whoever NEEDS it in the guild that takes Yel down. If they are taking Yelinak down, most likely it is because they want the keys. You say, "yeah right." Well considering that since Luclin came out there are plenty of UBER drops that are NOT used in quests, I say you will never see anyone wearing this "just because it's awesome."
#REDACTED, Posted: May 28 2002 at 5:43 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Not true. Other weak classes, like int casters, well, without a pet, we're as useful as a ctton ball to chop down a tree. But thats not the point. We too could use haste, cause, we suck at practically every attack skill exept piercing and 1hb (For some 2hb) and if we could get our little constant spell-casting hands (or necks or pants or ears or etc.) on a Haste Item, we could practically solo without a pet! Dont believe me? Go find a NO-DROP Haste item, and transfer it to a int caster with a cheap item like a Cracked staff or a Worn Great Staff and start whacking MoB's. Then, take off the haste item and look at the damage now. See the dffrence? Hope you do. And once again, Warriors and monks and rangers and Etc. arent the only 1's that need haste. Plus, what are you warriors supposed to do with mana and wis & int?

Yes i noticed i only had time to miss 3 times before i died instead of 5... i'm a wizard and had a 50/43 (yes 50dmg 43dly) shovel as well as a 40% robe... I sold the robe and only wish i could give my shovel to the SK with MAXED 2hb i hit for 80 on a lucky hit and usually don't hit period....

If you honestly beleive that casters can solo with haste and a cracked staff i have a hard time beleiving you even know who yelinak is, And if you think this talisman would be awarded to a caster so they can melee too instead of *gasp* medding when they're not casting a spell... well... i hear diablo 2 is nice?

Would have to totally agree there. And has anybody noticed this (i mean it was made blantantly obvious) that alot of the quested velious stuff is: you get one item, you either use it or you turn it back in to get another item. So whoever wins the roll for this lil treasure of a necklace, it's to the winners discresion to what they do with it.

1) If you get this item, it will be at a very high level with the cooperation of a large number of very high level people in your guild.

2) Your guild will probably not award this item to you unless you are level 60 AND one of the classes they deem necessary for Sleeper's Tomb. For example, if a level 60 cleric and a level 60 warrior have been awarded this item from previous Yelinak slayings, a level 60 enchanter might get the next one.

3) You will be expected to turn this in for the key to the Sleeper's Tomb so your guild can get some of the loot from there. Of course, most of the good stuff is no-drop. You might also get to keep this as a neck item until a sufficient number of your guildmates have it to make a Sleeper's Tomb raid possible when they turn it in for the key.

4) If your guild kills Yelinak every single time he spawns for a year, you MIGHT get a second one to wear around your neck.

5) To the person who talked about monks not getting this item because their epic has a haste effect: Monks are the only class whose epic haste stacks with item haste (if I remember correctly), so epic haste does not rule them out.

Very simply,
Every last one of the post failed to mention the warrior, who is supposed to be THE MASTER of melee, not only does a warrior get shafted out of all the good melee wpns (aka look at the paladin only sword) he gets shafted when it comes to items. 40% haste or whatever it is would make it so that a warrior can lay the smack down like he is supposed to be able too.
Casters should be last in line for this item for the simple fact with enough patience they can get a similaar item, minus the stats they dont really need and that the warrior and other melee classes dont really want over an item such as this.

Actually, Warriors are the masters of AC...with the exception of some PoM drops, warrior armor is the BEST when it comes to AC. As to the masters of melee, that'd be monks...if you've ever seen a monk with epic haste, you'd know what I'm talking about. I'll agree, warriors need to hit fast enough to keep the mob from aggro'ing the weaker characters, but they aren't designed to be buzzsaws in melee.

When ye be in a highlevel guild that can actually take down Yelinak, threre is VERY little chance that there would ever be a lotto on any drops. So plz don't assume that any of ye would be able to random for it. Items like this is awarded to a worthy character. And...to think that ye would ever be in a pickup grp that could kill Yelinak is even more ridiculous. Most guilds that can take this dragon, will have his spawntime timed and even precamp him (or any other rare spawn)before any major patches (I know that we try to :-). This means that no pickup group would ever be able to gather enough ppl to even start buffing up in preparation to take him down before one of the servers uber guilds have already killed him.
Conclusion: If ye be not in an uber guild...
forget it! It would most likely NEVER happen for thee.

Officers in most highend guilds, defines a worthy person of a drop, by looking at stats on the drop to see what classes would benefit the most from it. Here the conclusion would be (as rightfully stated above) hybrids. Then they look at what other drops the classes in question can achieve on the specific slot (neck here) (This is also why casters art left out here. Go look it up!).
Being a ranger I would love to say that as a hybrid I would be one of the first in line for this. Sadly (and it does make sense so I truely accept this) I am not. This due to, that our epic (which all rangers at this point should either have completed or at least be VERY close to complete) have a permanent 40% haste effect. This rules all rangers out (and same argument goes for the monks if the wis, int or mana - arguemnt didn't apply).
This leaves us with 2 classes. SK and pallys. Truth be told. I do recall what the effect is on either of their epics, so if any of 'em gets haste, we would basicly be down to one class in my guild.
And with all that said... This is only if we consider the piece as a permanent wearable one and not for the keyquest. Then all would sooner or later get one in guild. Most likely me later since I am one of the youngest in the guild. All lvl. All the 60's first, then the 59's and so forth.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 04 2001 at 3:14 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) There's a reason why people say any item with haste is for melee and not casters, the reason is the haste would be totally useless to a caster and means the world to a melee. Sure there are items such as this that have awesome stats but even if it has haste give us a break there are other items to. Zlandicar's talisman has same stats minus the haste.

Kin Lor Necklace is a better ruid necklace. #1, 8wis. #2, gives a LOT of resists which is very handy for when being blasted (soloing perhaps...)since druids have little HP/AC, and #3 because it is a LOT easier to get :) off 45 mobs, Allakazam says, which is basically everything before the pool room. But undoubtedly very rare. But not as rare as Yel's, since just about everyone on the raid killing him will want it.
You want a 1:50 chance to get this, or a 1:6 for a better wis necklace, even if it is only one wis more. Why go through all the trouble to get that, when tanks could use it more anyway? ie, the haste on the neck? WOOT my SK will die for this =)

no the kin lore neck may give one more wis and 5 more mana, however yelinak makes up for that by even better resistances 7 on everything as to kin lore has 5 fire and 3 everything else then it's got the 7 strength charisma agility and stamina and it has the 40 hp :)
