These also drop off of giants in Kael Drakkal on ocassion; you don't necessarily have to quest for these.

Tormax faction part deux
# May 23 2001 at 11:57 PM Rating: Default
One more thing I forgot to mention, about hunting in Skyshrine... raises Tormax faction... doesn't affect Coldain faction.... and you get better stuff than Cerulean, which I must say, I found disappointed when I researched the stats

Why do you have to be so bloody rude? Maybe it was an honest mistake? I'm sure you've made them before...

Tormax Faction
# May 23 2001 at 11:54 PM Rating: Default
Hi, Zelldane, I just wanted to bring it to your attention that Tormax faction may be raised by hunting sentries and guardians in Skyshrine... My ranger friend and I hunted sentries from level 42-45 off and on... we are the darlings of Tormax, something which 4 consecutive Saturdays of KD raids hasn't yet ruined....

*smoothes out a wrinkle in the sleeve of her shiny sentry armor*....

In any case, sounds like Skyshrine might be a more rewarding way to raise Tormax faction that shardwurms, which really have waaaay more hitpoints than are worth bothering with....

Killing shardwurms DOES NOT raise Tormax faction. In fact killing shardwurms does not raise or lower ANY faction. So yes theoretically killing in Skyshrine would be a better way. But killing sentries in SS doesn't raise Tormax faction; you have to go pretty deep into SS to find mobs that do (or kill certain named coldain or dragons elsewhere).

Killing Dain Frostreaver in Icewell Keep or Lord Yelinak in Skyshrine give very big positive Tormax hits.

Edit: NM, you probably meant collecting shardwurm teeth to turn in for faction in Kael, rather than getting faction hits directly off the shardwurms.

um, forgive me but i've yet to see a tormax faction hit for killing a sentry or guardian in skyshrine. i've logged about 60 hours in the zone.
Nice Look

I agree that the stats aren't that great but I have seen them equipped and they do have a cool look. Looks just like Singing Steel.
kinda missing the point aintcha?

You get tormax faction. That's a ***** to raise, so be grateful that the teeth are a dime a dozen!! you get the faction, which you're gonna need for Kael quests, and you get something to make a newbie happy. Any questions?

For the complete difficulty of doing this quest it had better rate some kind of better exp or something. You need 4 of these things. I hunted Wyrens into the near 1000 mark and probably got about a dozen stingers all told. Yep. They are really easy for Wizards and druids to kill and very good solo exp. About all I ever see hunting them in the first place.

This is completely disappointing.

Well they aren't worth the effort... unless you're a gnome, because these are used to craft the clockwork observer helm, and THAT is worth the effort...

Otherwise wouldn't hunt for these specifically, but if you happen to incidentally acquire one while fighting in Kael, it's a nice little item for a low level alt.

The ac 9 isn't bad for the lower levels, but I can't see anyone who can actualy hunt Shard Wyrms putting effort into doing this quest for the loot! It's mildly better than newbie gear.

Yeah...Maybe if it was for casters I would understand, but not for tanks or hybrids.
