editted - ah sorry DMG BONUS depends on the individual player using/looking at it.

on a different note, this is one of the cheapest 36% hastes you can get! (IF you can spare the offhand and would rather not sacrifice a gear slot for an item with haste but little stats)

This is used by chanters for charm soloing a lot. I sell these very quickly when I get one, usually to a chanter. They can easily make up the 3-4K in a single session with a hasted pet and this weapon.

I just want to say That You guys ramble on to much. One easy thing to say in post. You like or not. Plus answer questions so other people don't have to ask. What does this sword drop off? Is it a named? What spawns named? If nothing spawns named then what is named's spawn time. This all I ask after these questions are answered then feel free to ratio/damage and what goes good with what all you want. Thank you. Sorry hate ranting but had to on this post :)

I found that the best use of this weapon is for a ranger. A ranger can use this while bow kiting to give him 36% haste. This weapon is great to use until a ranger gets his epic (Swiftwind 40% haste)

I just want to paraphrase what I've just read throughout this page as to which weapon to pair this weapon with - just to be sure I'm making the correct conclusions. Feel free to make any constructive comments.

One post states that Frostbringer (12 / 22) makes great pair, another states that Exquisite Velium Warsword (12 / 21) does, and the extensive list posted near the bottom shows damage output per minute with a number of different weapons; Guard Captain's Mallet (11 / 20) and Toxiferious Axe (10 / 17) were near the top for certain level's listings.

Conclusion 1 - Excluding Tox Axe all weapons have a damage of 11 or 12 and a delay between 20-22. It would seem to follow that any weapon with numbers that match these (i.e. Razor-edged Shan'tok or Serrated Cutlass of Hatred) would also perform as well.

Conclusion 2 - The ratio of weapons seems to matter greatly - but delay certainly becomes an issue. All the ratios for Frostbringer, GCM, EVW and the Tox axe are 1.7 - 1.9. Wurmy is a bit lower (1.6) but the delay is disgusting. Long Sword of Ethereal Energy has a ratio of 1.812, but the damage output isn't as great, again assumably due to the higher delay.

I'd love to see the results of damage output done again with some different weapons. For instance, if someone with Dex = 160ish, Str = 170ish used Snowchipper / Spiked Velium Mallet, Swiftblade of Zek, Blackened Acrylia Blade, or Fleshgrinder (was trying to think of weaps without procs, but struggled to come up with some).

For a Rogue who's damage mostly comes from Backstab, this is a great weapon for the off-hand. With this 36% haste in secondary and a 13 +2dis = 15 damage, in most circumstances, primary weapon, I backstab harder and faster than any other rogue I have seen at my level, only 34 atm though :)

Absolutely affects EFFECTIVE ratio!

This weapon would always be 5/18 (rounded) because haste would make it 24/1.36 = 17.6 delay. That's why you do more damage: you swing more often.

On to this weapon: It stinks for melee. Great for bow kiting, etc., but there are much better weapons that paired with a 22% haste item like SCHW will give you MUCH more melee damage.

Not completely accurate...

No (Worn) item hastes will stack...

However, you can have one (Worn) and one (Combat)

Again, one worn, one spell OR one song, one overhaste song. That's it. Period. If an item says Haste (Combat), then the combat one is a spell, which will not take effect most likely if you already have Enchanter or Shaman haste that exceeds it (likely). Items with triggered (by right click or randomly during combat) haste are great for soloing, but pointless for groups with enchanters.

Edit: Oh yeah, Guardian of the Forest AA stacks AND will take you over your haste cap.

this with LSoEE makes a 16/18.56 and then the +5 magic damage so a 21/19, wow.... with lammy makes 9/12, with centi LS makes a 14/17, and witha wurmy maks 25/29... as you can see, this item is pretty sweet.. put it up with the LSoEE and it is incredible... lammy with hits of about 80+ depending on level and str... as you can see, this item is awsome (these calculations are with 36% haste. all websites i have found say it is 36)

The haste value of this weapon is 36% (CoF haste) which makes it roughly a 5/17 or 5/18 weapon. If you have haste available in another slot, I'd suggest dumping this and pick up a better damaging weapon.
RE: Haste
# Feb 08 2003 at 12:55 AM Rating: Default
...but at lower levels, this is much easier to acquire than SCHW which still go for as much as 5k on most servers.

Just put a very nice weapon in your primary, this in secondary, and you are good to go for many seasons. At least until you have the wherewithall to get hold of a CoF.

I've read every post there is on this item, and I notice one thing: either you love it or hate it.

I personally bought this for 1500pp for my warrior, after I tried trading 4k worth of stuff for SCHW. I was shocked to find that it was 36% (or 40%) haste for such a cheap item. I hesitated to buy it at first because of the stats, but now I don't regret it.

It really depends on your style of play if you use it or not. I'll most likely keep this for a long time. You have to admit, not many people will ever see a haste item this high without getting lucky on a CoF roll. It definitely (for me) makes up for the weakness of the weapon, especially in the secondary range.

This is probably the *most* under-rated haste item in the game. Test it out, you can get it fairly cheap these days.

(Who knows, if it becomes popular, the price may skyrocket!)
Oh ya...
# Jan 24 2003 at 4:47 PM Rating: Default
Oh, and this weapon alone without any other hastes would have a ratio of 3.4, which is much worse than Jade Mace at 2.0(lower is better).
Damage/Delay Ratio
# Jan 24 2003 at 4:33 PM Rating: Default
The damage/delay ratio on this weapon is 5/17 at 40% haste. So with Bard and/or chanter haste you could get to about 150% haste total with the highest lvl hastes for those two particular classes. Making this 5/9(1.8) or 5/10(2.0) roughly. Better than a Jade Mace at 9/18(2.0) or just roughly just as good, but a lot faster, so that lack of damage makes this an uber taunter and allows more ticks for secondary hand to hit as well. IMO this is well worth the cash you pay for it, on Xev they go for 2k, just a little bit higher than what Jade Mace goes for these days, sometimes the same price. But definately nice at any lvl. Much better than I thought before I calculated the dmg/dly ratio.

And the do wield them so you know if a giant has one.

hehe, believe me or not, most no one on my server believes me but, there are 2 versions of this weapon, and from the story i was told when i got mine its like this.

If you look at a VSB right now it wiss say something to the point of "Effect:Haste (40%)" not sure on the 40%, but as with this screenshot and the one i have it is "Effect:Haste" aka haste equals ur lvl, i watched the lvl 55 warrior who gave it to me use it and i swear it was like watching a drummer, but also as i was told this miracle haste item was nerfed and is now at a flat percentage, no one believes me except for the few who have brought me a VSB and put it up in the trade window next to mine.

Though as a lvl 25 warrior i dont have too much use for this when i hit 30 it will be an asset to me, wheeee

now i expect to see lots of flames, but i know it to be true because ive used this thing at level 5 and wondered why i had it, then used it at 25 and noticed a big difference

Regardless of how often it drops, or how bad 5 24 dmg dly is, few people seem to realize the true point of this weapon. This weapon features 40% haste, which is one of the best you will find. The catch is, that it is a weapon, therefore it takes up one of your slots for dual wielding. Rather than seeing it as another weapon, just see it as a major boost for your primary hand. I use this with frostbringer, and I am very impressed with the damage output. This will beat any damage output in the famous trio: lamentation, wurmslayer, and centi ls, in the long run. It pairs up very well with wurmslayer because of the wurm's high damage and slow delay. It is the equivalent of about a 25 23 at its max haste. Anyways, for a pvp server especially, weapons are non lootable, and this haste is the best you can find unless you have the money or luck to inherit a cloak of flames, or something of that stature. It beats the crap out of SCHW and FBSS haste, I can say that much right now.

this is 36% haste. how haste items work is, if you wear a haste item it will go up 1% haste per level until it reaches its max haste (a FBSS on a level 12 will only be 12% haste until you reach level 21 when it reaches its max haste of 21%, then it won't go any higher, the swiftblade will keep going up until you reach level 36)

Im currently level 42 and I have a Lupine dagger and this Velium Swiftblade right now, but i was wondering if any other items worth equal or less than Lupine would go better with this VSB.
Thanks for any responses i really appreciate it.

P.S. - Which slot should the VSB be in with Lupine, or really any others yall suggest?

BTW there was an extensive study done at the ranger glade boards on your topic. Take a look at this... stolen off The Ranger's Glade Boards:

Some calculations (using Copeland's Weapon Analyzer) with Velium Swiftblade in offhand and the following weapons in mainhand. Numbers are in damage/minute, assume 150 strength and maxed skill in 1HS, Double Attack and Dual Wield for the given level. The numbers also assume a 60% hit rate, and typical damage curve when fighting mobs about 3-5 levels below yours.

At level 43
------------------------------------------
Guard Captain's Mallot (11/20) - 985
Lupine Dagger (9/18) - 962
Wurmslayer (25/40) - 953
Lamentation (9/19) - 923
Long Sword of Ethereal Energy (16/29) - 903
Revultant Whip (5/14) - 899
Centi Longsword (14/27) - 886

At level 51
------------------------------------------
Toxiferious Axe (10/17) - 1200
Guard Captain's Mallot (11/20) - 1096
Lupine Dagger (9/18) - 1081
Revultant Whip (5/14) - 1044
Lamemtation (9/19) - 1037
Wurmslayer (25/40) - 1021
Long Sword of Ethereal Energy (16/29) - 986
Centi Longsword (14/27) - 974

At level 60
------------------------------------------
Toxiferious Axe (10/17) - 1466
Guard Captain's Mallot (11/20) - 1332
Revultant Whip (5/14) - 1329
Lupine Dagger (9/18) - 1324
Lamemtation (9/19) - 1274
Wurmslayer (25/40) - 1188
Long Sword of Ethereal Energy (16/29) - 1175
Centi Longsword (14/27) - 1168

Incidentally, Magelo lists the Velium Swiftblade at 36% haste, which is what I used for these calculations.

So what do you think now?

Hmm.. Well my warrior has this weapon and I have been experimenting with it trying different combinations. First I tried using a wurmy with it. Lots of damage but not as fast as you would think it to be. I found that I took alot of punishment inbetween swings. Next I tried a Lamentation in main hand with it. Very fast swings but low damage strikes, it was as if I never stopped swinging. Finally I used a warsword in the main hand with this weapon, I think I have finally found a mate for the Velium Swiftblade. The Exquisite Velium Warsword 12 21. Swings as fast as the Lammy but double the damage its a nice combo. Anyways without alla the double talk and numbers or surveys. I like this combination and plan on using it until I can afford better belted or back haste and a frostbringer. Everyone says use it with a high damage weapon in the OFF hand slot. But I disagree.. I use it as offhand, and swing the warsword in the main hand. I tried it the other way and it wasn't as good.

Got this last night during a kael raid. We were camped at the left of the arena just pulling guards/troopers/legos/adjuncts, puller spotted a trooper or lego with a sword and this was the result. Its about the 10th raid I've been on and its the first one I've seen so there pretty rare I guess

I have a silvery belt supposably 26% haste , I use heavy warsword 12 23 in main and LOEE is secondary. Would this wep in secondary with LOEE in main be better. Will the haste make up for the damage loss on seconday?

I picked one of these up the other day half ways by accident. It was cheap, looked slick, and was something different to try, so I figured why not. Worst case is I just resell it for what I paid, or somewhere close to what I paid. Well, I won't be selling this anytime soon. I've tried several combos now, and this blade along with a Long Sword of Ethereal Energy in my primary does more damage than any other weapon combo I've been able to achieve. When I get grouped with an enchanter or shaman, I switch out the LSoEE for my Wurmslayer to increase my damage output just a tad more. I know there are better combos out there, but you have to keep in mind what people have, or are able to get ahold of...bear that in mind before anyone goes spouting off about how this combo is horrible. I don't know from numbers, I don't parse anything I do, all I know is that this combo of LSoEE and VSB works extremely well for me, and I'll not likely be giving it up any time soon. It was well worth the 5k I spent, especially considering I wasn't entirely sure what I was purchasing.

Wow I remember posting this weapon back once I was 40. Heheh I still got it. I retired the good ol fathful wurmmy and got a flinted dagger 5 28 . yea the stats suck. But

625dd 4 times a fight solo'n
155 dex with dis sword. nice
"or be a smart ranger and get 55+ shammy dex str buffs "

In group with shammy buffs chanter haste bard song jammin. 4-12 times depending on hp of the mob. I dont want to take agro it just happens, I dont want to shame monks or wars, but shi!happens. Feel free to argue about haste caps, ratio , what class is the best at tanking.. bla bla bla

Now. on highend raids this weapon helps rangers out with bow. its good .. its fast and it helps haste in ALL forms. A ranger needs to be smart, example: Plane Raids with mini or main boss's. keep the agro on the tank. Kick back and shoot them up. with this and all em other haste "spell song" it shines, not to mention a fleeting quiver full of summoned arrows and a 30 40 bow. 51 rangers gets double damage and crits. "crys I dont have trueshot"

Ill let your mind wonder.

question is the vsb better in the off hand or primary ?
Belive it or not

Honestly I wonder who still spouts this bs.

Primary hand wpns damage and delay both come into account... damage+damage modifer (based on level of melee)... Wpn swings once every time your wpn delay time runs through.

Off hand wpn... works on a skill based system... your off hand has a skill check that determines if it swings every time your off hand wpns delay time runs through.

The only difference between the two is that you off hand has a skill check to swing or not swing.

Add in double attack /or tripple attack and that is where your confusing numbers come into play.

What this means with this wpn is YES you will get significantly less damage from your off hand...AND it will swing significantly less.

BUT for those of you who have done your math (Pars. your damn logs and do it yourself...don't belive the brainless twits that abound in everquest.) You will find that the extra main hand swings MORE then compensate for the minor loss in off hand swings untill you reach 50+. At which point your off hand skill starts to do a more significant portion of your melee damage.

At this point you should get a new haste item, or contiune using your wurm. for soloing.

Also...if you consider the haste formula
(100/(haste+100)*delay=hasted delay

You will find that using this 40% in combination with ench, haste for a great deal of your fighting giving you 100% haste, using a low delay wpn (in actuallity anything 26 delay or less) and you will have reached the delay Cap for wpns with is 13...no wpn can go below 13 delay with haste.

So it's pointless to sacrafice your off hand with this wpn when it's haste is basically being voided if you group with any hasting member.

Thats the entire point. You use it in conjuction with a high damage high delay weapon (wurmslayer for example) Wurmy + This = SERIOUS damage. I've seen warriors using this combo into the mid 50's just because of the damage output they can produce.

Ok folks here`s the deal, just so you know I am a 55th level Ranger on Innoruuk...so I am no newbie.(Also have a 50th level Secondary)I bought this sword last night an my wife and I proceeded to go to Scarlet Desert to give it a little test.Heres my weapons and this was with no Haste spells on me
[PRIM:Velium Swiftblade OFF:Revultant Whip]

Whip is 5/14 sword is 5/24 with a 40% Haste to all melee attacks.End Result:Battle Spam from "Others Hits" caused my wife to go LD.

And on top of that I have a 20/30 bow with a 35%Hasted Quiver...hehehe,my Ranged button pops up every second.

All in all a great weapon to have.

Your full of it! I let my new ranger friend use the vswiftblade at lvl 1, Now he is lvl 25, he currently has 10 22 warsword as primary and this off hand. It works at lvl 1. Stacks with Songs and Spells, Also haste's Bow delay. Once you get dual weild put this to use. Sure you can have weapons that proc or hard hitting wurmslayer. Its worth it to have this haste sword.

So mr warrior try using it without your CoF, try it alone, try it with your bow, try it with a haste spell. If you like it with proc'n weapons use it, it shines both ways. Im goina keep it tell i get my epic's. Ill still use it in primary with the swiftwind "once i get it"

Ive just traded for this weapon to see how good it really is.I currently have a CoF 36% haste.I'm using a Frostbringer in Primary and tried the swiftblade in secondary. From what ive seen so far theres no change in the speed of attacks so im thinking the swiftblade is 36% haste.Ive also tried with the wurmy in primary and again theres not much if any, change that ive seen.I think the weapon is good if it is 36% haste mainly because theres not many items out there that is of high haste and at alot cheaper price than the other high end haste items.I know if i didnt hav a CoF i'd have the swiftblade in my Secondary always, prefering to lose a weapon slot that has not very good stats 5/24 but has 36% haste if it does have that much). That way i could get a better belt, shoulders or any other slot that does give out Haste.Sorry for this long story ive what ive found but better doing it this way than saying "This weapon is crap except for the haste". 10/10 for haste 2/10 for a weapon.
P.s.Also i beleave the Haste starts working at Lvl 35

If you already have a CoF, then you will not be able to tell what the haste in the swiftblade is because you cannot combine item haste. Try removing the CoF and use the swiftblade and you should see if there is a difference in your haste.

Did a raid with the guild and a few others guild's in BW. I think the name was Slixin Klex Or the Main Boss. Anyways I was using the VSB and Wyrmslayer, "bad" it happend pretty quick, what i do remember is:

You hit Slixin Klex for 97 damage
You hit Slixin Klex for 93 damage
You hit Slixen Klex for 17 damage
You hit Slixen Klex 13 damage
You kick Slixen Klex for 12 damage
you get hit for 583 damage
you get hit for 542 damage
you get hit for 394 damage
you get hit for 503 damage.
You have been slain by Slixen Klex

Ummm word to the wise, let the pets and casters do there part, and let the mob get a good taunt on a pet. Use you bow. no shame on ranged attacks. I missed out on a chance to roll for some good loot. But the other guild member got his epic something. BTW this combo works well is some situations, bad in others. Out of 12+ melee class's I and a few others kicked the bucket. Thank god there was some cleric's with there epic there. it was fun while it lasted. Well worth the gobs of cold hard cash i put in for this weapon. Ill keep it, and once i hit lvl 50 ill try it with the Steel hilted Flint Dagger 5 28 proc 625dd.

Not the best possible thing for rogues

I was doing a lot of thinking based on the matter of whether this weapon was worth buying for a rogue. This weapon comes across to me as a pure boost to the melee power of the main hand. allowing more BS potential and more hits per round. However, this also means more BS taunt per round. So there is a problem there.

Secondly, I was thinking about the group situation where
1) There is an enchie or shaman in the group
2) No enchie or shaman in group.
With an enchie or shaman, I basically would have hit the haste cap at lvl 41 if they were to cast things like celerity or even alacrity on me. And I would be left with a rusty sword on my offhand.
Thus the weapon will only be an option in groups post 50 where the haste cap is abolished. Without enchies or shammies however, this thing will allow me to become the most fast hitting person in the group. Which means potentially the highest damager and the highest taunt when compared to peeps the same level as me. This shouldn't really be much of a problem here. And it's where the weapon's power can really shine. But frankly speaking, I haven't been in any single group at this stage not wishing for an enchie or grabbing one at the first chance. So there.I would most likely do more damage with an fbss and 2 not so solid wpns in my hands than with this and 1 solid wpn in my main hand. This applies at any stage below or at 50. This is not really a viable option for rogues below lvl 51.It is too expensive for it's worth at this stage. Will consider this however once i hit 51 and prolly will not get my epic so soon.

Well thought out. But Rogues outdamage Wizards in a fight. A group that doesn't have a Shaman or Enchanter will need the Rogue to pull the weight that much more as a result. Even if you don't use it all the time, when you do use it, it can save you and your group a time/experience consuming Corpse Retrieval. I don't play a Rogue, but this looks like THE best offhand weapon under most circumstances. It makes the epic better, and can always be bagged for something with a lower delay.

The Rogue epic weapon already has a haste effect, Kitsinu:

Ragebringer ==> 40% haste
VSB ========> 36% haste <cry>

Both of these haste effects are permanent and will not stack :(

I like my VSB (and use it almost constantly with the LSoEE), but I can't wait to get at least half of my damn epic! (the Swiftwind, which is also 40% haste)

Im fairly positive the rogue epic doesnt have haste but even if it did, it wouldnt interfere with the VSB, it would interfere with chanter/shaman haste as spells stack with perm effects and songs, but not with other spells. From what I hear from the rogues in my guild at least, the effect is like a berzerker strenght type buff, giving str and a small, rune-type invulnerability. In either case, one would not harm the performance of the other...

the VSB is not beter then the rog epic however the epic effect of seething fury is a perminent haste like the CoF and does not stack with haste items but it does stack with enchanter and bard hastes
I used the VSB for a bit pre epic but then sold it off for armor ><

I was thinking a lot about whether or not to procure this weapon. As it seems, it is formidable beyond doubt. But I have my reservations. I am a rogue of 41ish and I would like to see the day when this weapon falls in my hands. However, I was thinking whether this weapon would be worth sacrificing the offhand damage for more BS and main hand damage. From what I can guess, it will only be effective if I can get something powerful like a small dragonbone shard to couple with this thing. But that weapon by itself is expensive and rare. If there is any high level rogue that can ascertain the facts about this weapon's viability for our class, please do post a reply.
