One: Strikethrough has nothing to do with avoiding ripostes, it just allows you to bypass defenses.
Isn't this implied in my earlier statement, my patronizing replier?

Two: As the poster stated warriors are using this in their offhand where with AA they get 0 ripostes.
Why would a WAR want to use this in their offhand slot? Usually we have our main aggro weapons set in the primary.

Seems like a nice dps/aggro weapon not sure on comparison to bbob in offhand.
BBOB in the offhand? Thanks for the lulz!

K, sec. You said:

So no, it's not implied. Strikethrough lets you hit through ripostes, but you still take the damage from the riposte. It does nothing to reduce your damage intake, it only maintains damage output through defensive abilities.

It's largely a matter of preference as to which hand, and also the mob you are fighting. Many prefer to offhand it to avoid the ripostes. Others prefere to mainhand it, where it has better overall aggro generation.

It is not an aggro upgrade (rather, it's a sidegrade) to the Brutish Blade; they are very close in aggro generation, the main difference being that the Swiftcleave has a more gradual increase vs the big jumps from the proc on the BBoB.
