In the Previous expansions you use to get a class specific set for your wrists, chest, legs, etc. and the other slots such as rings and ears were not class specific, and now the sets in DoD are for cloth, chain, plat, etc. specific users and there are class specific rings, ears, etc. I'm curious what people think, Do you think this armor is better then the class specific armor sets in previous expansions?

Well, I think SOE was trying to improve the utility of drops in Demiplane by not making them specific to one single Class. This minimized the chance that any loot dropped would either rot, or be handed down to an alt (as with many Anguish molds these days) to prevent it from rotting.

As a trade-off, though, we saw many Foci being attached to armor sets that were of limited use (or no use at all) to one or more Classes. (E.g., Beneficial Spell Haste Foci on NEC/WIZ/MAG/ENC armor or CLR/DRU/SHM armor, when ENC/SHM already have max Beneficial Haste from their Quick Buff AA.)

I think this is why SOE went back to Anguish-style molds/drops (in TSS) that could be utilized by any Class, so long as they undertook the appropriate quest to turn it into their Class-specific armor. They've continued the trend into TBS, though they obviously didn't give much thought to the Foci on the raid-level gear, and should go back and re-tune them to be less cookie-cutter and more useful to the Classes that wear said armor...
