Bah

Its crap. They're not worth the gems required to get them.
Weak

Ehh....for something that drops in the Arena, these suck. If you're in Kael and the leather for these drop, defer to a Beastlord or Monk please, unless you are a lvl 20 who has somehow wandered into the Arena and participated in a fight with a 50+ mob. Getting items just to have a "full set" is kinda mean if others like melees can turn the lether into some useful item. I mean.....you can only fit so much junk in your bank, why collect useless vermi, ES, Thurg items out of pure principle?
RE: Weak
# Feb 11 2002 at 2:13 PM Rating: Excellent
Hehe, truth is though, that yes these are pretty weak, but the monk and beastlord ones are much more useless to them at these levels. These are basically useless to most people, unless ya just need the mana items.
RE: Weak
# Feb 12 2002 at 8:48 AM Rating: Good
So what we're saying is: 60pp from vendor sales of the required gems > gloves. Hehe. That sums up the usefulness of these.
My opinion

Druids first stat to increase should be Wisdom to get your mana up. Yes the more mana you have the longer you can fight in a pinch when you need to spend mana. Though 2 wisdom isn't particurlly high when added with the 25 mana that ends up being the equilivant of 4.5 wis at level 50.

Now with that said... These are quest armor... They are suposed to be better than planes wear and this is better than vermi gloves(bearly!!!), the 13 to dex on vermi DO come in handy when your getting hit and not getting interupted as often is a plus.

The second stat druids should get up are RESISTS(our ac is so low adding 50 ac still isnt going to help...)!!! These resists are horrable, only 3 resists total. For the level to obtain these, let me repeat, for the level to obtain these the gloves are underpowered.

At level 50+ druids will be strong enough and have the farming power to afford codalian skin gloves for wisdom. With the more wisdom you can ditch your 3 wis earrings and get BD earrings for added resists...

Are these gloves bad? I would say yes... Low resists and low wis plus the gem coast make these poor, the only 2 stats that matter to druids aren't high enough for level 50+ equipment... ES has a legg up on these imo since that allows you to have an extra spell slot(though a little to heavy).

Now this is my opinion and hope you don't take it as an attack but what people aren't mentioning that this is level 50+ equipment and that your wis cap is 255 so you can afford to get more wis without hitting the cap.

King Bulba level 56 druid on Prexus

P.S. There are some of us like me who will wear these over codalian skin gloves for role playing reasons, the dwarvers are our allies and that should mean somthing...

Overall...
# Jul 08 2001 at 2:14 AM Rating: Good
These gloves are bad at all.. it's all about what you already have, and what you need.

These Gloves are much better Vermi, or ES. I think that the Harmony guantlets from Hate, or the Quest gloves from Kael are nicer... but really, Coldain Skin are as good as it gets.

Those of you who hang your hats on the Vermi Gloves... Because they give you Dex!?! Go play a Ranger... PLEASE!

If you don't have the money for Coldain Skin, don't have the Guild for Kael Facion or 2nd floor of PoH, then by all means, these gloves are great. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

not everybody groups and get's mana song / c2.....I am a druid at lvl 56 on TM and I havent grouped (other than for planes and other big raids) since about lvl 30....when your wis/int goes past 200 mana is GREAT!
stats
# Jun 06 2001 at 8:36 AM Rating: Default
I can't figure out why high level casters are in love with mana items. More mana while soloing is just more downtime and boredom. While grouped I can rarely dump a full tank of mana during any fight without aggroing and dying. Mana recovery (C2 and bard song, and how much you can sit during the fight) is what makes the difference over the course of a night.

So....what I'm looking for on this high level quest armor is ac, hp, and resists, or so much wisdom that I can swap out another item that is lacking those traits. Sadly, Druid armor continues to give us very little in the resist department. Oh well, it's kinda fun being gluxed in Kael.

This is one reason you want mana...Tons of it:

Solo: Since I am a quad-kiter (aren't we all?) I want as much mana as possible...
Ever tried to take Dinus down? Well, I can't on one mana-bar (if he's quadded with three raptors) And I have to med-kite the last of him. The more mana I start with, the less I have to med-kite.

Also, with more mana, I can quad stuff that has a ton of HP, which I wouln't be able to hunt.

In groups: More mana, means you can either nuke and/or heal and/or buff more. Can be that little X-tra mana you need to get a heal/evac off

Sub 200 wis
# May 09 2001 at 4:08 AM Rating: Default
Everyone keeps talking about 200 mana, I have the first character I created....not knowing what I was doing, I wound up with a base wis of 85. This char is 50 and still has not reached 200 with out bufs. No these gloves dont "suck" but I as does every one else, already have 2 wis on my hands and the other pieces would be much more worth my time. Besides if you have the time to spend getting these then you already have the others making these no longer "suck"
Think on this ...
# Mar 26 2001 at 5:31 AM Rating: Decent
People saying they wont waste time on this quest, you need to learn. The place this items component drops is on Kael at the Arena.

YOU have the luck of the drop, you could be luck and see a load of the armor drop or unlucky and see none. Also that your a druid makes it harder to even get in a grp for this one. So dont say you wont waste your time questing for them unless you dont want to quest for the arms/legs/bracers/ and so on, the gems are a pain to get but trust me to get in on the Arena harder.

They are nice gloves, I agree the wis should have been a little more and the other stats but all the same 25 mana is a good stat imo.

RANT off ;-)
ummmmm...
# Mar 21 2001 at 5:43 AM Rating: Good
guys?
remeber those split paw gloves you got at level 22? ya they have the same wisdome.
YES the mana add is great.. ONCE you've hit 200 WIS, but frankly.. 2 WIS ain't squat and I'll go for ac or vermiculated any day

As for the guy who thinks he doesn't need DEX.. I guess he knows nothing about CHANNELING and not getting interupting when casting

Nice, but definitely not one of the quests high on my list to complete. I don't need the stats and the AC is no better than Ulthork Hide. Pretty disappointing really, but most druidic armor is.

RE: 2 WIS?!? /cry (NT)
# Jan 27 2001 at 9:24 PM Rating: Default
These are nice but will be one of the last one's I try to get. I'm over 200 wis and my ES gloves are still pretty nice. AC and frees up a spell slot. One day I'll get around to them just do to the quest but not until I work on some of the other quests first.
Awesome
# Jan 17 2001 at 2:00 PM Rating: Decent
I got my druid to 200 wisdom at level 34. Many high end items have loads of wisdom and in reality, many druids will be very pleased to have extra AC and mana at the kind of level that these are available at. Just because wis is the main stat for druids doesn't mean that items without loads of it 'suck' - thats such a narrow minded attitude.

I will do this quest as soon as I am able.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 17 2001 at 6:50 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) these ppl who say these gloves suck for druids are the same ppl who snare themselves at least once a week. in other words, brain dead.
RE: bottom line...
# Nov 17 2001 at 3:43 PM Rating: Decent
Not accurate. The people who say these suck have something better.
If you're +200 wis, you're not going to want these b/c you can sac the 2 wis, still be above 200, and get something better. Like I would keep my Cured Tizmak over this. But that's just b/c i don't have the good fire/cold resists anywhere else, and I've got plenty of wis.
As someone else accurately stated, it all comes down to what ya got. Below 200 Wis, sure, go for it. Not bad gloves...

Actually
# Jan 16 2001 at 3:26 PM Rating: Good
These are not bad, look at the + mana on that.
Do you know with most items out there post 50 you already have 200 wisdom with a buff without visable armor? Damn, look + 25 mana. That is sweet when you're already at 200.

Bottom line, + mana on armor is becoming more popular.

There are some people that won't be happy with an item unless it's +10 to all stats and +20 to all saves with AC 100 ... I know this isn't worth the time to do the quest but if every item was great how would that effect the balance of the game? Items aren't everything, and some people take satisfaction in knowing that they completed the quest.
These suck!

These are great. Awesome AC and 2 wis and 25 mana are a plus. Much better than the 6 ac 13 dex 5 int vermiculated gloves. I'd shoot the druid who wouldn't wear them ;)

Me either. Very interested in some of the other quest items, but I will be keeping the Coldain gloves that I just bought. Gloves are ac12 sta9 wis6 int6 hp20 mana20, and best of all, they match my boots :)

And no, you don't have to be in uber raids to get coldain gloves (response to the next post down). Just same some money, I bought mine for 5k.

Umm can I borrow that bulletproof vest?

So what would you put on your hands? At my level, 41, I get 8 mana per wisdom point. These gloves are basically 6 Wisdom on the hands. Is there better out there for the hands for a druid? Is there anything better than can be obtained without being part of a snotty uberguild?
Correct
# Jan 16 2001 at 11:41 AM Rating: Decent
These (almost) rock...don't ignore the 25 mana which is the equivalent of 2.5 wis at level 50- even more at lower levels! and the ac on them does rock!

Wow, you people have no concept of what items are good and which aren't. How many other non-planer druid gloves are better?
RE: These suck!
# Jan 17 2001 at 12:25 PM Rating: Decent
As a matter of fact... planar gloves are:
AC: +6 Dex: +13 Int: +5 Disease Resist: +7

--------------
these are better imho
RE: These suck!
# Jan 18 2001 at 4:08 AM Rating: Good
I cannot believe you guys are saying these suck. I can't say what your druid is doing, but mine is all about mana. Sure 2 Wis ain't that much, but 25 mana is nothing to sneeze at when your Wis is already over 200, and 8 AC might keep me from getting hit quite as hard that one time that saves my butt. So I go out and get myself some planer guantlets? What do I want dex for??? procing a weapon??? How many 50+ druids actually use their weapons? I certainly dont, in fact most times I got my Paw loaded and dont even carry a weapon. Do I want my weapon skills to go up faster? (see above). To me this is better than planar gloves. Im sure ppl will disagree, but my response is: Go ahead get that pretty planar armor, get yourself a full suit even though some of it has NO wis or mana, leave a very pretty corpse. Me, I'm gonna pick items that give me the absolute most mana I can get and I am going to get off that one last spell that makes the difference between gaining and loosing xp. Good hunting :)
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 17 2001 at 1:45 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Your an F-ing moron if you say you dont need dex. If your 50+ think about it dummazz! Dex effect channeling. Channeling effects whether or not your sorry *** stays alive in the long run. If you can get off heals while a Glimmering Drake in ToV is smacking you for 210 over and over WTF are you going to do? DIE! I have 120dex at lvl 52. I had a fiery defender and a glimmering drake both on me and was keeping myself alive because of channeling long enough for the cleric to hit me with Cel Heal. If you say that dex doesnt mean anything to a caster period your a moron. Dex is used by all classes. *sigh* Why do all of you post bull s h i t msgs about stuff you obviously have NO clue about? Yes wis is a plus. No its not ALL you need to consentrate on. Resist / WIS / Dex / STA / AC / HP / MANA Thats waht you need to work on 50+ Yes, basicly every stat. I find it hard to believe that all you out there that say "I have a lvl 60 Druid on RZ. blah blah. And I dont need to add to mana! or Dex! or HP or AC! I have 200 wis and I am the best druid out there!" Wake up! Those are the same peolpe that are ******** because the druid armor doesnt look cool or it doesnt add 30wis per iteam. And all you out there saying "Druids get shafted again?" HAW! can we say Lodz. Shield, PKT, ES BP, Verc Arms, ES legs, Coldain skin boots armor? My god! Theres tons of awsome armor out there. Just get off your lazy buts stop whining about not having it and saying that druid gets the shaft because your such a noob that you cant get in a raid, or a decent group.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 25 2001 at 9:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You're not fooling anyone saying your a lvl 52 when you rant about how important DEX is. You're just another angry noob that wants to sound important dummazz.
