Just finished evolving mine, thought I would state how long it took. When I got it, I had just hit lvl 66 and had 79 AA's. It finished at 80% into 71 with 162 AA's. (8 of those were from dain runs and didn't move the sword.) I looted it on July 6th, and it wrapped on July 30th. I didn't log played hours though. I just armed it as soon as I got it, and it stayed in my primary hand the whole time.

Equppied this in the off-hand of my 69 warrior buffed to about 11.5K HP/1870 AC and took it to kill bats in the Forgotten Halls. I was getting at 1% item xp per single DB kill. If my Truncheon of Doom proc'ed by the time the mob was at 85% health then I was able to bandolier to the evolving blade and still get the 1% item xp per kill, and I could finish the fight without heal potions or discs. If the basher did not proc by 85% then I switched to the blades anyway to make sure I got the item XP and just relied on potions.

In my main hand I was using Dark Whisperer augged with Ternsmochin Heartwood. I used Healing Will Discipline and Stonewall Discipline as they became available. I also burned through quite a few Damage Shield and Haste potions. Item XP seemed to move reasonably well.

I took this sword at level 1 to Coruthus Creep and used the Transmogrifer (xp transfer device for evolving items). It capped the amount I could give to the sword at level 2 with 0%. I was using the Arcstone cloak at level 3, with 75% compatibility. Sword ended up level 2 and cloak was only down 20% (level 2 with 80%).

Ok im gonna tell you how to lvl your evolving weapon (unless things changed since TSS came out). I had A Blade of the Once Bitten on my zerker, he was lvl 56-58ish i dont remember exacty but the mobs were dark blue. I was in The Grey It seemed to have have an xp bonus they never removed cuz when i went back after they added the new hot zones (Velketors was one of these new hot zones i remember)the xp there went to crap. So you probably need an xp bonus zone for best results, not sure tho. I am sure however there was a huge difference in dark and light blue mobs. I got 1% every 2 darks and 1% from every 4-5 light bl mobs.
Anyways heres how i did it.... You need soloable mobs that flee at low hp and a melee toon that can snare SK, ranger, zerker. I would have my Edge of Envelopement equiped and would pull a shissar to the side and proceed to beat the crap out of it untill it started to flee at 10% or 15% then snare It. (You can even beat on it till 5% or lower just dont kill it yet). Then id switch to my Blade of the Once Bitten. Id have a timer and watch for 30 secs to go by then finish off the mob with the evolving sword. Thats it.
I got 1% every 2 kills, sometimes 3 kills. The point is... as long as you wait over 30 secs before you finish off the mob after equiping it, the weapon will get all the xp. Or at least would get all the xp when i did this. I havent tried it lately as i usually play my non melee toons now. And also note the xp gained by this sword and the one i used may not be the same.
Thought I should state the reason I used the EoE instead of the BotOB incase it isnt clear to someone. Simply put, the dmg/dly on the BotOB just flat out sucks even at higher lvls. I could kill things way faster and take far less damage as a result by using EoE untill the mob started to run.

See my reply on the final version of this for answers to some of these questions? BTW, evolving items get XP like we do now. Just fight as hard as you can in a group. Primary/Offhand makes no difference. However, the game IS smart enough to know that you switched weapons (aka bandolier) in the middle of the battle. Not sure HOW it knows, but it knows... you have to use it the whole time you fight or it gets no XP far as I can tell.

PS - The sword is VERY rare - spent 30 hours killing that bugger and his 18 min PH for 1 drop. Dats a LOT of necklaces... BTW, he never dropped a 69 rune for us, and only dropped 3-4 runes the whole time, so its an inefficient way to get runes.

Was helping a Shm and Dru kill mobs in the Accursed Nest for Drake Scales.

They where Root and Rotting. I shot arrows, keeping this equiped in my off hand. I was getting 1% per 1 - 2 kills.

I would just like to dispell a few misconceptions. Following the advice of some of these posts, I (70 warrior) went to Grieg's End, sword in hand. After about an hour testing different weapon setups, making sure I killed the mobs with the blade, not using the blade until under 10%, etc etc, I came to the conclusion that:

It doesn't matter how much damage you do with it, as long as it is equipped before 30%~ health approx. I am using my 2.0 in my primary with the evolver in my offhand and it is getting the same amount of exp per kill as it does if I only use the evolver with a shield. You do not need to get the killshot with the evolver.

Please note this is only considering the situation from a soloing standpoint. I do not know how group damage affects it - you may or may not need to get the killshot in a group.

Other than that, god this is going to take awhile to fully evolve for my ranger! If you want to level one of these, head to a solo spot, bring some haste/healing potions, and a good book ...

been leveling this sword in Veksar at the Feral Lord camp, seems to be going quite fast. Also I believe it's leveling is based on how much damage it does on each mob, if you secondary weapon is putting out more DPS than this sword it doesn't level as fast. Been using BA Rapier in off-hand rather than BoC or SBoD. 10pct every 90min or so.

If your not in a raiding guild CAMP THIS MOB. Warriors get thisa weapon. DPS classes have so many options to them. This weapon parses out better than the War epic 1.5. Not including the +8% slashing and strike through. Its more DPS than a fleshbiter. Check the stats. And it looks Wicked cool.

Its attunable and sells for 2.5 million when fully done. Takes approximately 35 hours of straight xping in Griegs end. Nice time to meet new players as you power level them. Kills the boredom. Personally they should up the drop rate and make it NO DROP. If you don't level something like this your self you do not DESERVE IT.

This is a very nice weapon on the final result no doubt , but my problem is people are pricing it at lvl 1 for the final result.
On cazic this is 350k in bazaar (which is rediculous for anything at all, just making Belrion and ige and eq plat rich) anyway, I equate this to selling me a pile of lumber for the price of a nicely built mansion in beverly hills.

Just my opinion, so pls save your time flaming me about "go farm it yourself then" cause you will jsut be missing the point of my post.

Veshans on the Prexus server, Phreaky and his buddies, sniffed round our camp, saw the 20 bodies, and watched us die to an add, seconds later they took down zorilles to loot the sword, they kindly left a tongue on the corpse, thought that was nice of them, and gated out and logged off as quick as their greedy arses could, nice to know people like that are still round to make the game so nice and pleasant to play

Looks like this item evolves per kill. Made 7% on one creator mission (used Lesson). Then I swarm kited trash in PoM for little less then 2 hours and made another 43%. 5 hours per level seems to be a good standard for solo bard.

anybody have a /loc of the placeholder? Or a description with directions of what the placeholder camp area looks like?

Camped this mob for total of about 5 hours, had 6 pops of named , alternate drops of Necklace and leash for first 4, then got the sword on 5th kill , and leash again on 6th .

Boy my warriors happy and so far the evolving is going fairly well too.

This sword is ultra rare.

Does anyone have any idea how long it takes for these things to evolve? This weapon is worthless for me until it is at the top level and I hate toting such a meager weapon at 70th level vs. much more capable weapons. But if it evolves fairly fast, I could probably endure some time with this.

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.
