This is a sword used in the ranged weapon slot . HUH ?

Or it's a sword-shaped misc. item that is kept in the range slot ??

HOw does that work?

It's Korgoron, the Shattered Blade of Illsalin.

I would assume it's broken into pieces and no longer usuable as a sword. And range seems to be the slot for miscellaneous items that don't fit anywhere else. I always imagined it would be an extra backpack as an unused bow is worn on your back, but I'm not sure if even the devs could agree on a single definition for that slot and which part of a player's body it does represent.

Does anybody know if there are different proc messages on this one for critical hits, heals, nukes than the ones it does at evolved level 2?

It has the same emote as level 2, and it has one additional emote at level 3.

It says something like, Korgoron, The Shattered Blade of Illsalin siphons the power from it's opponent, basking you in a strange green light.

Or something kind of close to that, it's not exact.

This the one about you having most of the quest done and your friend just starting it and then you just did all the parts together in about 8 hours and you both basically got the blade about the same time?
It was interesting, but more-so, it had some tidbits in it that I took out and am now almost done mine. Still need some elder shadowmanes.

finally got mine lvl'd up the other day. took 90+ hours of keel'n in GE. takes 25 kill shots with xp to get 1%. so basically 2500 kill shots with xp to get first lvl and 5k kill shots with xp to lvl it fully. pets do not count, atleast it did not for me.

fyi - in full form it procs an emote that all nearby can read.. (raids love it >< )

Acually folks, you dont have to farm lt blues all day to get the evolving items to go up. I promise. i have 3 of them on various characters and even the 7 level versions go up rather quickly in just regular XP groups. 1 DoN will generally get you between 12% and 20% depending on the level of the mobs you are fighting. 3 lvl 73 mobs will get you 2% even on the 3 level items. I got 7 AA, lots of crystals, DS access, and my brand new cloak is 35% away from maxing with no farming at all in 2 days. And no you dont have to get the kill shot to level it, just do not raid, make sure its turned ON, and kill regular XP mobs, the higher their level the faster it goes up.
Happy hunting and keep your sanity!

Actually, I'm having the same issue - I've grouped in several zones only to get 4% in the last few days. It took me clearing the top half of GE to see 1% on it. I'm also to understand that some items level faster than others (whoever has had to level the DoD +50 to resists-clicky mask will know what im talking about heh). I have seen a bit of a boost in killing LB's in DS...that has seemd to be slightly faster to get from one % to another, but not much.

/shrug Just my observation though.

OK - I went to the Accursed Nest today to do a couple basic missions. I went in with the blade level'd to 17% (just got it last week).

In the middle of the first task, I figured i'd check for movement on the percentage indicator, and found it had went up to 18%.

I figured, ok, i got a kill shot that put me over from killin LB's earlier and shrugged it off. So in the middle of the next mission I checked again to find it went up another 1%.

I can tell you that with a wizzy in the group It was likely i didn't get many killshots, so I guess its becuase the xp is that damn good heh (about 5% aa per kill).

Odd thing is, I went grinding in RSS a couple nights ago and nothin happened - not 1 % pt.

Anyway, for those of you able to do the nest and are having a bit of a time leveling this thing, it may be a good idea to make the Nest your new home for a bit =).

Hope this helps someone.

a raid?
# Nov 16 2005 at 2:37 PM Rating: Excellent
Why is this flagged as a raid item?
As far as I can tell, two gems are rewards for single-group missions, one drops rarely in the hive, another in Ruins of Illsalin/off Squidies and the last in Stoneroot Falls.

you're correct.

There is no raid required to get this item. I have completed the entire quest and it takes no more than a single group of players (not anquish+ geared either, just one group of players who would actually use this item).
