Book Text:

Systematic Spell Research
Volume Seven: Additives and
Thickeners.

Additives and thickeners
are added to the inks right
as you are writing the
spell. It is done at this
stage, and not prepared
ahead of time because it
causes the ink to become
useless very quickly, and
you can only get one spell
scribed before the ink goes
bad. Despite this, the
additives and thickeners
are very important, and
this system would not work
without it.

The making of additives is
so simple, that you may
find that some merchants
will sell them to you, so

that you will not have to
make it yourself.
Additives are used
according to how the target
of the spell would resist
the effect spell.

Ro's Ink Additive is for
fire.
E'ci's Ink Additive is for
cold.
Luclin's Ink Additive is
for Magic and lightning.
Saryn's Ink Additive is for
Poison.
Bertoxxulous' Ink Additive
is for Disease.
Ink Additive of the
Nameless is for
irresistible spells. It
also works for spells that
heal and help, that one
would not want to resist.
Veeshan's Ink Additive and

Zebuxoruk's Ink Additive
also exist, but I have
found no use for them at
this time. I believe that
they are used for spells
that are not irresistible,
but that have an odd way of
being resisted.

You will need to make
thickeners yourself. They
are made by grinding gems
into dust along with an
herb. You choose
thickeners according to the
general type of the spell
you are working with. Are
you making a spell that
directly damages its
target, or a spell that
heals the target? You will
make the thickeners in the
mortal and pestle section
of your spell research kit.

Arcane Thickener is made
with two opals and a
fennel. It is used for
spells that directly damage
the target of the spell.
Al'Kabor Thickener uses an
opal, topaz, and mystic
ash. It is used for spells
that do damage in an area,
be it around the caster or
at a spot away from the
caster.
Extending Thickener is made
with two ambers and yarrow.
It is used for spells that
do damage over a period of
time, be it short or long.
Expatiating Thickener is
made with amber, topaz, and
vetiver root. It is used
for spells that do damage
over a period of time to
multiple targets or an

area.

two peridot and thrayniis.
It is used for spells the
have a healing affect.
Mitigating Thickener uses
peridot, topaz, and sea
spirit. It is used for
spells that have a healing
effect to a group of target
or in an area.
Soothing Thickener is made
with two pearls and vetiver
root. It is used for
spells that heal over a
period of time, be it a
little healing over a long
period of time or a larger
amount of healing over a
short amount of time.
Assuaging Thickener is
made of pearl, topaz and
vetiver root. It is used
for spells that heal over

time to a group of targets
or in an area.

spells that enhance the
target in some manner.

emerald, topaz and
thrayniis. It is used for
spells that enhance a group
of targets in some manner.
Debilitating Thickener is
made of two jade and
yarrow. It is used for
spells that debilitate the
target in some manner, but
not instantaneous damage.
Enervating Thickener is
made of jade, topaz, and
vetiver root. It is used
for spells that debilitate
multiple targets.
Conjuring Thickener uses

two topaz and vetiver root.
It is used for spells that
bring something into
existence that was not
there before.
