Book Text:

Systematic Spell Research
Volume Three: Quills

Each quill you use has a
slightly different shape as
well as treatments that
will make them behave
differently while you
scribe your research.
These subtle differences in
the line of the writing
imbue the power of the
spell with a bent towards
the profession that is
first able to use the spell
you are making.

If only one profession can
use a spell, then the
choice of which quill to
use is easy, just choose
the quill for the
appropriate profession.
If more than one profession

can use a spell, then choose
the profession to which the
spell would be lowest in
the power scale, and they
would be able to learn it
before the others.
If there continues to be
more than one profession
that attains the spell at
the same power level, then
there is a priority order.
You should choose the quill
appropriate to the arcane
profession, over the divine
profession, or the
profession of others that
mix combat with their spell
casting. You will also
choose the divine
profession over professions
that mix combat with their
spell casting, as long as
an arcane profession is not
also the same power level.

Finally, if there continues
to be a tie, such that
multiple professions within
the same class of
professions attain the
spell at the same power
level, then use one of the
quills that is of a more
generic nature.

This method of making
spells is difficult on the
quills. The treatments
will make the quills soft
or brittle, and you will
find that by the time you
are done scribing any
spell, the quill will be
useless and you will have
to discard it and make
another quill for the next
time. The process of
making quills is fairly
easy, so this should not

tax your abilities
significantly. You make
the quills by treating a
normal quill with two quill
treatments, and then
cutting it to the
appropriate shape.

I will close this volume
with the treatments you
will need for each
professions quill.
