It gets roughly 1% per kill in Wall of Slaughter with a full group, and seems to be the cap as killing RSS (named included) and during a 69.1 hard also only supplied 1% per kill. This seems standard to any evolving items that have 6 levels, as I have a couple of different ones and they level at the same rate, but I've heard of the ones that only have a few levels going faster.
At level 60 I was able to snag a 0/6 then picked up a 6/6 at level 62. At level 64 the 6/6 is of coure in primary with the other now being a 4/6 (25% toward 5/6).
The lifetap procs often, but is indeed random. I've gone whole fights without it procing and and then had it hit 3 times consecutively. Has a bad habit of procing when I'm at 100% health and then NOT when I'm low, LOL.
I watch the evolve bar often, and I do seem to get more evolution from solo play or from getting the kill message than from straight group play. I try to time that last backstab so I get the kill message and it has evolved at a reasonable pace.
Not a bad weapon at all for a 60ish toon. There are better weapons out there, but until you get Raid-errific its worth the time to evolve.
You CAN have 2 "Deaths Maw Dagger" but you can't have 2 of them until they are fully evolved, I have tested this theory, even if it is a lvl 1 and a lvl 5 they have the "lore" on them and are basically the same item.
"You CAN have 2 "Deaths Maw Dagger" but you can't have 2 of them until they are fully evolved" _______________________________________________________________________________
correction,untill ONE is fully evolved.
my beasty has a fully evolved "Deaths Maw Dagger" in primary & lv'ing another in offhand.
Well as it seems there are only 3 other one handers that have lifetap 3 and they are all raid force drops and rare.
So ya this beening a dropable item makes it very valuable indeed.

well, ive been trying various methods to level this weapon... it is currently at level 2 and 55%. From experience, this seems to level best in Griegs end, where it is 1% every 3 kills or so.
I leveled mine up in GE. Took 3-4 kills per 1% so you have to kill a couple thousand of the mobs. I did not go past the gate camp though. I did notice that it evolved quicker when I was soloing than it did when I was in a group.
As I understand, all evolving items gains xp when you kill anything LB or higher. It is by the number of kills not by xp so if you camp out in some easy zone with mostly LB's and mow down as many mobs as you can the weapon will evolve quuickly. Not sure how many kills you would need to go from the first to final weapon but expect it to be in the thousands range.
I will confirm that I had this drop today in Undershore, off of "A Freemind Gatherer". You can see it in his right hand, it's a -tiny- spike of metal.
Not sure of gatherer's level, but am guessing was mid-50's. My friend's 70 necro solo'd him in <30 seconds for me. To find him, go to the slave camp along the Eastern edge of the undershore, then a little Southwest you'll see a field where a bunch of mushroom are tooling around. Don't know placeholder for sure, but after we killed the Gatherer I did see A Freemind Sower that I didn't see before. Maybe?
I was wondering about the augment thing myself. The Twisted Shank has an augment slot, so I would assume this one would as well. But it is not shown in the graphic. Too weird.
My guess would be this is a screen shot of the link from the twisted shank. I would bet if it were a screen of a full lvld one it would in fact have an aug slot.
There is no aug on the evolved form. I submitted a /bug report about it. Let's hope for the best, otherwise it's pretty much better to keep at lvl 5 of evolution.
Has anyone seen if the item changes when it is transferred to another player? Veth BB

It does not change when given from one player to another. Think of the weapon as a simple character itself, rather than an attribute of your own character.
I don't see anything broken either. But if you're required to be 60 to use, why put a rec. level of 60 as well? Not that it really matters, but I think that's what the previous poster was getting at.
Its very logical....First off procs arent just "made" for the weapon its on...lets say there was a sword that had the same proc...but it was a lvl req of 50 and rec of 60. Sony made procs seperate on req level cause of different req on weapons. The req level on a proc doesnt taylor to the weapon itself...it is their so sony can put the proc on other weapons. Its easier to control procs by giving it the level req instead of letting them roam free and let the req lvl of the weapon do the work. That kinda sucks cause you will be limited to putting procs on higher level weapons, leaving the "casual" player out of any uber proc benefits. To be honest most procs are around 50 ish which is where our casual player base is mostly at i think..depending on server. Yeah i know y even bother thinking of putting a high level proc on a lowbie weapon if they will still need to be a req level to use it. Its just a form of balance.....as for the req and rec level being the same..well sony FUBAR'ed yet again lol
