I camped SF for 30 hours straight.. it is totally worth the wait.. there are very few good masks for monks and this one being easy to quest all it takes is patients. So those who are going after him in the future just remember its worth it good luck to all

Well, after coming home from work in the morning to find Tunare in DOWN status, i was pretty disappointed. Luckily i had missed the brunt of it and only had to wait 10 mins. Sooooo, i decided to camp SF. So here is my what i found it. Whole ordeal took me 3 days.

At server crash, reset, burp, what ever. SF goes on a 20-22 hour spawn. He does not pop at Server up, unless i missed him, but i assure you, i was there ASAP. AFter the first kill, he goes back to the 30-32 hour spawn. I observed him, and found this to be true. I got him on his fist 30-32 hour spawn. Soooo, plan accordingly. Lozidal piece is easy, beacase people will probably kill him 2-3 times while your waiting on SF. Just ask politely to loot the piece. As for the other two piece, they are easy enough in thier own right. Kill dire wolves till the Dire Wolf Stalker spawns. The other you kill Tizmaks in GD for 4 of the no drop meats. Turn them in to Bloodmaw. If you cant FD, get an ench to mezz it. If you can, walk up behind it, FD. Wait for refresh. Immediatly stand up and turn in 1 piece. Repeat 3 more times. Good luck with it folks.

I tried camping stormfeather a few times for a few hours... would log in and he be there or find out when he was killed and try the timer thing... It didnt work for me.

I finally got him monday evening and then did the other 2 pieces real quick, leaving the turtle. there is a pretty cool shm that kills him quite often, do i asked him to give me a yell when I might be able to get a map.

I got the tell last night "come get it". I hoofed it (bummed a port) to iceclad and they were holding the map for me. Thanks again to the shm and the ones who agreed to save it for me.

Now I have my eyepatch. Tis good.

I have a friend (65 Ranger) that did this quest in one day! Someone went AFK while campimg Stormfeather, and he just happened to be on the first island. So, he tried to tell the guy that Stormfeather was up, but he was seriously AFK. So, he went and killed Stormfeather himself. As he was heading towards the Druid Ring in IC he checked his track. He saw that Lodi was up! So, he did a /who all friends and saw that 3 of friends were on. A Ranger, a Cleric, and a Druid. All of which were 65. So he asked for help and they all came. He then tanked Lodi without slow. The other Ranger was using TS.
With both the others healing, they killed him and he looted the piece of the map. The Druid then gated him to the great divide where he got his four chunks of no drop meat pretty quick. He took them to Bloodmaw. He despawned. He got the next piece from the gnome. Then, for his final piece he went back to IC. And began killing all the Dire Wolfs in sight hoping to spawn Stalker. I quad kited the wolfs for him. Then, it spawed. We killed it with me healing him, and he looted his last and final piece of the map. Then, he got his reward.

can this item be MQ'ed?
RE: MQ?
# Jul 25 2003 at 2:16 PM Rating: Decent
No it can not as each item required is no drop. you can only MQ if several items need to be turned into one person. Sony's way around this is the "put the junk in this box and combine it for me" then turn the newly created item to get reward.
Time

Ok level 60 here, ive got a few pointers that could help you if your doing this quest.

1. 19 hour spawn time -- THERE IS NO SUCH THING

2. Real spawn time is when ever the darn thing feels like - note to self those 22 solid you put build character and i am proud of you.

3. i don't know if it matters but this thing is a piece of fluff to kill, took me about 20 secs.

4. it spawns half way between the hill and the tree with the 3 gnomes playing a dice game, sitting there normally tells everyone your camping it.

5. people will try to KS you as they are morons

6. passing the time is hard when your constantly checking, there is a cougar that spawns below next to the tree every 8 1/2 mins, that helps pass the time.

7. killing cougars don't help squat !

8. beer is your friend

garts to all those how take down stormfeather, i wish it was more often

HHARR HARR Finally got it lol. I have been caping 4 days in total:
-1st day (i had the dead time but it doesnt actually work trust me). 6 hours camping... nothing
-2nd day. 7 hours camping... nothing
-3rd day 6 hours camping... nothing
I finally decided to play Counterstrike and enter every 2 hours or so. Did it during the night another 6 hours. Went to sleep and i wake up this morning to see if the damn bird is there and NO it isn´t GRRRR, i press sit, camp and in 15 secs i see Stormfeather hits you for 19 dmg!!!!??? OMFG it has spawned, while i was camping!! hahaha.

What this means, just camp it eventually dont waste your life there and play your char, if you dont mind wasting some pps on ports or you have a porter friend get it every 2 or 3 hours you will get it :). Best time to get it is during late night when almost noone is in zone, or maybe some druids area kiting tigers or things like that. Good luck to all those who are camping this lovely bag plenty of feathers, dont give up YOU WILL GET IT without exception.

That Dirty Bird
# Jul 16 2003 at 12:53 PM Rating: Default
Got that Mutha Fu…Shut yo mouth…I’m just talkin’ bout Storm Feather. It started Saturday July 5th the server crashed (Mithaniel Mar) at 10:30 a.m. PST. A friendly Woodie Ranger by the name of Dakotador beat me to the camp. I stopped by after dying several times that day (because I was bound in IC) to keep her company while waiting for my Rez. The next day I logged back in at 6:30 a.m. Dakotador was still sitting on the hill so I joined her to help keep her company and be next in line for the camp. Sunday night Dakotador ran outta gas and kept dozing off. She turned over the camp to me at 3:00 a.m. on Monday. I stayed awake by setting the timer alarm on my watch to go off every 5 mins. Right after my alarm went off at 5:30 a.m. some blur appeared on my screen when my eyes focused I saw it was a beautiful white Griffin with gold trimmed plumage. I conned the sucka (green to me). LET THE BEATING BEGIN!! I ran under him hitting him with a throwing dagger to gain aggro and pulled him to a spot between the docks and the Gnome Pirate village so no cats would join the fight and proceeded to pluck the feathers out of him one by one for having me sit at that camp for 23 hours. After turning in all my items and receiving my eye patch I looked up to see my girlfriend glaring (DOHHH) at me for not coming to bed all night. I don’t have to sleep on the couch but have to reduce my EQ playing time 8(….. to increase Girl Friend Faction at least back up to amiable.

Elmyung Ndahouse
55 Gnome Rogue of Runic Lore
Mithaniel Marr

“You better watch who u messin’ with. I’m like a bicycle with out the seat…I’ll get in your ********

TIPS
1. When u plan to camp SF throw that 19-hour spawn timer out the window. He shows when he wants too.
2. I was sitting at the top of the hill looking toward the docks. SF spawned to the left of the tree with the 3 Gnomes and started up the hill toward me
3. If u are a class that gets aggro from the cats pull him toward the dock. The gnomes do not attack any mobs.

HASTE STACKING
I was told that Captain Nalot’s Quickening does not stack with other hastes. But last night on a VS kill in KC a 69 Chanter cast Vallon’s Quickening on me and it did not cancel out my CNQ. I do not know what the haste cap is but I think all the hastes did stack cause my Back Stab key seemed to pop back faster than it’s usual rhythm. I can only wish all my haste did add up, Ragebringer 40% + CLQ 20% + VQ 68% = This little Gnome rogue goin' into over drive on his back door boogie.

Gripes
I sent a petition just to ask a GM if his skipping spawns was a bug. A nice GM took time to answer me. He said that the SF spawn was working as it should. I tried to get him to tell me if it was actually a 19 hour spawn but he said he could not tell me yes or no. But did say I could send complaints and suggestions about the spawn by using the /feedback command. So I suggested them making SF a triggered spawn which u did a side quest for that way the could make him a tougher mob that would take 2 or more groups to take him down. Anyway if enough of us send feedback on SF maybe they will change the spawn because this camp is SUCKS A$$.
RE: That Dirty Bird
# Jul 30 2003 at 11:39 PM Rating: Decent
Haste spells still do not stack, however Vallons Quickening was modified in a past patch so that it will stack with other haste spells. Vallons quickening carries a whole host of other goodies along with the haste that you still got, but whichever highest haste you have is what you will move at.
better plan
# Jul 07 2003 at 8:29 AM Rating: Default
Here's the best plan of all for camping this guy. Make your main character a caster class and ***** this quest. :p Camp your tank/melee here and log on whenever you feel like it then you'll get it eventually like my monk did. I couldn't imagine just sitting there for like 19+ hours at a time just to find out it skipped a spawn or someone logged on the last few minutes who was a few levels higher than you and killed it, had enough of that with raster.

I camped this damm bird every night for about 2-3weeks to no avail untill now :) I am very happy to say i have the map piece. Some info that might be helpful is I camped the bird with my druid while i was playing swg on my main comp. normaly 2 boxing in eq. To my suprise I looked at my 2nd comp screen and saw sf flying over my head and freeked. So i snared SF and began nuking with my 61 druid and got him to 5% and then thought doh!~ I did not know corpse timer on SF and if I killed was not sure I could log off SWG and log on my main 65 Ranger, and then get him ported to ice clad fast enough to loot? So this is why I am here now sharing this info to help the next guy. The corpse timer is 7 minutes so if you are gonna camp SF with an alt as I did, wich by the way is a great idea (far less boring). THEN HAVE A PLAN. Lucky for me I saw the light bulb b4 killing this guy or I would have been kicking myself for a week straight. Before I killed storm feather I logged on my ranger and after I confermed port I killed the bird. 7 min. is not alot of time so be smart.
haste stacking

I am attempting the quest, but before I do so I would like to know if the triggered haste on this will stack with other item haste that is worn (ie FBSS), and also if the haste clicky is self only, or if it can be cast on others as well.

I clicked on the mask link to find out what level this effect can be activated, but to my surprise none of the posts say anything useful about the mask. Hmm... maybe if i look in the stormfeather area i'll find mask posts.

I finished the quest in 9hrs 40min 4sec from right when i started it and i got screenshots and logs to prove it.

funny thing is i would have never done the quest if i couldnt find a group. man did i get lucky lol.

Greetings my fellow crackers.

Well since this is the most God awful camp I have had the pleasure to sit. I would think that anyone slaying the ugly chicken would be considerate enough to post the ToD (Time of Death) and server it was killed on. This may help some of us in the future. Who knows just my 2 cent. I know I will post the ToD when I nail the bugger.

Noone would be crazy enough to give away the spawn times after camping him for 36 hours plus with no sleep. Plus its a random timed spawn. Luck seems to have more to do with camping it than just the time of day.

So I have my warrior camped out right in IC where stormfeather spawns right? Well I have tried 4 previous times to log him in only to ahve another PC there already camping him. So we are on a guildraid and I am playing my main and we have to camp right fast to clear agro and so I take advantage of this time to log on my warrior to check out the scene real fast and low and behold Stormfeather is staring me right in the face so I had to down him LOL. NOw how lucky is that? I didn't even have to camp him for more hen about 1 minute maybe. So to those of you out there that have spent many hours I am sorry and I hope i bring Hope to those yet to do this quest...it is well worth in IMHO :)

I started this quest March 19th at about 10am. I decided to start collecting my pelts for my first coldain ring. So I ported to IC and started running to EW and on my way I saw the stalker up and decided to kill him and get the map piece for maybe doing the quest later. Well after a couple hours in EW I finally got the two kodiak pelts and after not finding many cougers on track with my druid I decided to go to IC and camp cougers there since they are plentiful.

After a couple more hours (its now 3:00pm mst) of killing cougers someone ooc's that Lodi just went down and dropped 2 map pieces and if anyone wanted come loot. I figured wow thats pretty lucky so I went and looted one. Then I went and checked to see if SF was up, and to my suprize he wasn't (go figure). No one was at the spot so I decided to start camping him. I left my druid there and checked back every so often. That night I logged off about 11:30pm.

In the morning logged back on about 8am and no stormfeather (just took a chance that he didnt spawn during the night). That day (now Thursday) I once again left my druid camped there and checked every so often. I finally got on about 8:00pm and watched the camp, there were 3 other people there, a SK and a cleric (sk 2 boxing) and another SK that was about level 50. I spoke to the first SK who was about level 35 and mentioned that I was camping SF, he was kind and said that ultimatly he just wanted to find out the spawn timer. I also mentioned that I was camping SF to the other SK but got no response from him, and figuring he was going to KS (he would have been successful too with his HT) I mentioned this too my guild, a guildmate (65 SK) decided to come help just incase the other SK was gunna KS me. But luckly that other SK must have taken pitty on me and left before my guild friend came.

Then to my amazement at 10:30pm who should spawn but SF!!, that put him at about 31.5hrs from when I started to camp him and someone said that he was killed at 11am my time the previous day so that puts it at that 34 to 36 spawn timer. Was an easy fight for my 55 pally and 55 druid. I looted my piece and ported to GD to collect the meat. It took me all of a half hour from the time SF died to the time I got my eyepatch to collect the meat and do the turn in to razorhoof(sp?) and the turn in to the other gnomes. A point I did want to make is that when I was camping SF and other people showed up to the camp they were very kind and understanding and didnt try to KS me or bully me out of the camp (i play on the brell server), so i just goes to show ya that there are still some good people out there.

I dont have anything new other than woot i did my quest finally ! But i wanted to note that the spawn time above was concurrent with what i experienced. From previous posts it looks like i was expecting a max of 34hrs and min of 19hrs for spawn. So you can imagine that after about 36hrs and some minutes of camping SF i was getting scared that i was KS while i was in the can but no sure enough right about 36hrs and 14mins from when i started camping him he popped and i got my peice... Next guy who was waiting in line for camp had been with me for 20hrs of that camp time so hope he doesnt have full 36-38hrs to wait and gets lucky on a 19hr spawnt time but it is a bit longer than was previously posted at times. Just for gods sake dont give up until you get the jerk!

Stormfeather for me was killed on thursday(april 10th) at 7:15pm est. I camped him since then and he spawned on friday at around 11:15pm. So I figure that was about 29hrs of camping for him. I consider myself lucky because two guildies I have known to camp him for 90+ hours. Not to mention I had would be ksers who appeared out of no where to try and ks me if he would spawn. Lucky for them he didn't untill late at night when I was all alone. I lucked out on Lodi as well, a friend invited me to come tank him when he spawned. (This was before I decided to camp SF) We killed him and we rolled for the map piece. I won it, my friend got the shell that he wanted. You'll have a mad time camping for this bird. Good luck to all of those who are doing this quest.

Is the effects broken or nerfed? The haste works just fine when you are using melee weapons; but it doesn't seem to work on my range weapons like my bow. I would think that this haste would include ALL forms of attacks - melee and ranged.

Stormfeather Poped 2 days ago on Luclin at 4pm Pacific time roughly. Druid got Eyepatch. Went back next day with Ranger..... started checkign between 10am to 12:30 NO STORMFEATHER. Went to work, got off at 7pm Pacific time, logged in, was about 7:30 PST Low & behold Stormfeather flying right on top of me. Dont know how long he had been spawned but guessing he had just sawned since he genrally doesnt live very long. SO i am counting a 27.5 hour spawn on him that go around.

Why in tarnation would any sane druid actually complete this quest? "Why not..?" : Lets see, 1) there are many better pieces with more ac, more wisdom and higher stats and 2) melee haste is USELESS to a druid of sufficient level to obtain all of the map pieces.

Ever seen a L40-50 druid (even with UBER gear) try to take down a "frost giant scout" with melee? Or get in the fray during a dragon raid? I have, its very messy and very very funny -- well in a pathetic way.

With a decent weapon they can do average-ok hit damage (nothing amazing compared to a melee or hybrid with their damage bonus). But boy when they start getting hit they go down FAST, no real ac, no real damage mitigation, no real damage avoidance. Melee as a druid is just too risky and inefficient once you get past the L40 mark and gets even more so as you pass the 50 mark and start having to fight xp mobs that triple/quad for upwards of 400 in PoP.

So why would a druid perform this torturous camp for a rather mundane mask which is definetly designed for melee classes? If they are smart they will be sticking to what a druid is truly good at, kiting with those incredible dots, intense nukes and powerful charmed animals -- not getting up close with their poxy little scimitar and barely managing to even irritate the monster they are fighting.

(giggles insanely)

PS: All i can imagine is this quest is somehow MQ'able and they were doing it for someone else or twinking an alt.

i am a druid and i find melee to be the best way to get the last 10-15% of a mobs life, when they start to run but get stuck is when we go melee so we don't "tank" them but we still do melee, and a druid with virtue and shammy buffs can last a good while tanking, have done it many times :)

It will not, because VoM is a spell haste, as is the proc of this eyepatch.

It will, however, stack with item haste, such as SCHW or FBSS, etc.

Also, it will only stack with the Bard songs of the Vah Shir line. (Can't say I know anyone who uses Ervaj, so I didn't mention that.)
