This item is best used on a horse, hands down.
You can heal AND MED!! (KOOL!!)
as a cleric i know that being able to clicky heal when OOM and still med is extremely important.. now, can the casting time on this be reduced by any spell haste effects, or our blessing line?
RE: Horse
# Jan 07 2006 at 9:17 PM Rating: Default
I know this is old... When on a mount and casting you are not meding during the cast. Clicky effect are not affected (or no longer after several patches) by spell haste effects.

I know this is old, but you do med while casting when sitting on a mount. Maybe you didn't know better in 2006 and were going by hearsay, but today the interface is showing you mana rates while sitting, standing, being mounted, being in combat, etc.

High Priestess vs Vicar
# Nov 06 2003 at 4:48 AM Rating: Default
Vicar is one who says a free healing 'clicky' is worthless.

High Priestess Suzy would like to point out two things that make this item useful to a 60+ Cleric.
1.HI HO SILVER AWAY! : My Horse is my best friend. NOT my Complete heal. 'Clicky' 'click' when Im not BASHING or SMASHING. Who says we cannot have our cake and eat it to??

2. DIVINE ARBIRTRATION: If you do not know what or how this fine PoP AA works you need to learn.
HANDS DOWN THE BEST CLERIC AA IN THE GAME! Has changed my life and saved many lives. I do love most of our wonderful AA abilitys and do not put any of them down by saying DIVINE ARBIRTRATION is the best when you have a full group. 'clicky' free group heal item just adds to my legendary healing abilitys and reputation. Not very often I am OOM with this AA but when I am OOM I can always 'clicky' :)
As a necro I love these
# Oct 15 2003 at 10:00 PM Rating: Default
I love it when the cleric in my group has these. I really cant beg for heals cause the cleric wont waste mana on da necro (too busy healin the tank which is more important). But if the cleric has these every once in a while he/she will trigger the effect and pooF! Safe liching for the necro.

i just want to say that i would use the group heal
only when the party has been wiped and recovering from rezzes. that way when i'mm oom from a rezz i can atleast heal the party and have them at full health in case an add or a small 1 mob train comes at us.

Thats the only time aye? Well, any Necros or Shm yah come across in a group may just smack yah if yah dont spam them with the mana free heals when yah can, HP to them = More Mana.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 06 2002 at 2:00 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) All the items for Forbidden Rites armor Blows. Some have no effect, and many don't have any Wisdom. The two things clerics want most is wisdom and mana. Yes, AC is nice for those times when you draw aggro, but the whole series should be Paladin gear and make something descent for clerics. As it stands the best chest and legs available are Dolans. The hitch is having to kill Venril Sathir for the legs, or Trakanon for the chest. Chest has complete heal.

Hmm, well any shaman smacking a cleric for heals needs to be quite literaly shot. SHAMANS CAN HEAL THEM DAM SELVES.... why the hell you think they have stoicism/torpor/qa;lkdfj. for? no cleric should EVER have to heal a shm period. I speak from personal experience being a 65shm myself.

In a normal xp grp, these rock, get a Kei cast on you, and just cast this over and over while tanks are fightin, whenever you need to throw a heal on someone, the KEI will get your mana back without sittin down, keep doin effect, is just like a 105hp/12sec regen, but watch out on adds and multiples cause you will generate some aggro, hehe, Good Luck

It's great isnt it, a message board set up under each item, where information could be gathered and dispersed easily, and what happens? a whine-athon about who gets what, sheesh, anyway, enough ranting...

What i want to know is are the armor drops for this are only found in kael right, ToV are all for Kael/SS armor quests

P.S. Thank you Allakhazam for removing anonymous posters, really calms down the ranting

I once partnered with another cleric in Lguk who was using these in her early 40s, believe she was 43 because she wasn't casting banish, But not truly sure.

It just seemed awfully "young" to be using it at the time, since the Kunark effects only work 46+.

Quest NPC for clerics
# May 12 2001 at 6:38 AM Rating: Excellent
Oh yah forgot to mention The NPC for the clerics Thurgdain quest armor is Loremaster Dorinan i think is the name, basically go left inside thurg past the bank, all the way to the middle building at the end which is a cleric sanctuary type thing where dorfs are all sitting listening to a speaker, she is the back NPC on the left side, HAILING her with ally faction or near will produce a list of armor that she will make for you if you vanquish the enemies of Thurgdain, goodluck fellow clerics, and keep those CHs running when your tank hits 2 bubs.(for those 60+ mobs hit it off at 50% lol)
Quest Information
# May 12 2001 at 6:34 AM Rating: Excellent
first person who posted was speaking wisdom, i hope all you clerics out there read that part and skipped EVERY SINGLE other post because i sure did. ok now down to the info....

A: there are two parts to aquiring this quest armor

1: being the gems (found in Cobalt Scar, off random mobs. Wakening lands, which dropped crushed gems as opposed to the mostly chipped that drop in CS, drops off suits of sentient armor. Velks Lab off random mobs. Dragon Nec, off random mobs*BP and ROBE gems drop here*. Western Wastes and other places but those dont matter)
gems are all decently uncommon, bp and robe gems rare as all hell and worth 10k+ each on Tunare.

2: the armor, found in Kael Drakkal only. there are 2 places of confirmed drop sites, the first being the arena area near Derakor the Vindicator, and the second being in the southern halls near King Tormax. Both of these areas require AT LEAST 1 fully prepared and well balanced group, but can easily be done with 2. An exception to this rule is that i have had mobs near the zone to wakening lands drop quest armor several noted times (while making groups for a weekly kael raid i lead some giant dropped a torn enchanted silk crown which i won in the random and now prize as my warlocks crown on my necromancer)

other than the few exceptions the quest armor drops ONLY in these places, which are ALL past a line of 4-8 see invis guards.

there are lots of mobs in the south ramp towards tormax but the prize is the arena, with named giants, priests, clerics, adjudants, (full temples) and all sorts of other giants to kill.

arena has a good respawn and proves to be armor city if you are looking for loot.

High Priest is our goal this week, we have killed everything in arena in the past weekly raids except him, tormax and vindi, the last 2 of which we will not attempt ever......and i do mean ever....
Goodluck on your armor questing, my gloves of forbidden rites look very sweet indeed, and my guilds other cleric who is wearing ALMOST FULL forbidden rites (cept that /drool BP) is looking great.
peace.

If you are only after plate drops, best place to get those is - hands down - Riffs Area with the Giant cycle which is a part of 9th coldain ring quest.

We went there two times for 8hrs each. A friend and I went there with the goal to twink out our cleric bots with a full set (minus BP) and you know what. We reached that goal EASILY and had even spare drops (helm, armplates, boots, bracer two twink each and every person that was in kael at that time - of course we got in some alts to loot for MQ. Just to illustrate how insanly good the drops here are.)

That said, not every group will get this good of drops. We never stopped fighting giants. After the last died we spawned it again. Do this for 8hrs and you will not know where to go with all the plate drops.

Wow...this is SO not true!!

Quest armor drops like crazy in the BANK, and in Lords room as well. In fact, I am surprised they haven't nerfed the lord room! On ONE 5-6 hour trip, 2 groups got TWO BP's, 2 bracers, one helmet at least 2 boots, and I think an arm as well. ALL PLATED! Plate is the only one that drops there!

Wearing one of the 2 BP's AND the helmet...and loving it!

Yuppers.. I just got my Bracer of Forbidden Rites last night. The gems seem to be the easy part..
Hit Icewell.. Velks.. CS with guild to get gems..
Or some players will sell chipped onyx saphires for around 750-1000pp each.

The corroded is the toughie. Head deep into Kael with a few groups 50+ as a minimum.
Good luck

Imagine a cleric with the following:

Breastplate that procs Complete Heal
Pants that procs group 100+ point heal (Level 34 cleric spell Word of Health)
Arms that procs 200+ point heal (valor) - also +13 AC

I'm pretty sure the amount of hp that gets healed goes up the higher level you go but I havn't tested it (kind of like how amount of damage goes up depending on what level you are?)
RE: Imagine...
# Jan 04 2001 at 9:32 PM Rating: Default
You would think that cleric equipment with abilities like that should be very awesome, right? Unfortunately, not the case. :-( I have the arms and have NEVER used the valor. Why? My buffs are 2 or 3 ranks better. You used to be able to use it as a free heal, but they increased the cast time on the item so it is no longer useful during combat..

The breast plate casts complete heal, but it takes even longer than a cleric casting complete heal. I haven't gotten one yet, but I hear it's only used for raids when the raid is over.

These new pants look great with "yet another heal spell we already have", but I'm sure it'll be deemed "too powerful" and be nerfed down to useless soon. At least these have some stats on it, eh?

RE: Imagine...
# Jan 09 2001 at 1:49 PM Rating: Default
No mana? At that level you will either have clarity2 or the equivilent bard song. In 2 minutes that it would take to cast these spells I could have regained the mana to have cast them myself.... so that makes it the same as just doing it, except I have to stand still the entire time.
RE: Imagine...
# Dec 18 2002 at 1:39 AM Rating: Decent
To the anonymous poster claiming the disadvangages of the cast time: If you have Clarity II or BST-crack or mana song, you gain that 11 mana/tick or whatever WHETHER YOU ARE SITTING OR NOT! In the 2 ticks that I (level 53) could have been medding, I would gain about 31 mana. Yup, thats it. So in the correct situation, I have just healed 420HP-630HP for 31 non-regained mana.

I suspect that most of the negative posters are folks that have never tried to use these things situationally. Try them in Velks, for instance, to counter that annoying AoE of the crystal statues, or in a ton of multi-agro situations just as the storm has passed and your poor overworked chanter has things under control, or after a wipe and your bind wounds guys are done. Just keep your finger poised over the "duck" key. A good EQ player tries out all the tools at their disposal.

Well, if you think about the fact that almost any nice piece for clerics is found on Planes or in other "killing" places , suppose one piece nice from a 50th lev. quest is not that hard to give away for the poor clerics
RE: Why clerics get such nice stuff...
# Jan 04 2001 at 3:15 PM Rating: Default
One piece nice? Have you taken a look at the equipment available to clerics compared to other classes. The effects on cleric armor across the board are infinitely better than effects on other classes armor. They are getting spells that are truly usefull where most other classes are getting ones that might be used every other day, a cleric with these items will likely use them many timers per day. Poor clerics, hah.
RE: Why clerics get such nice stuff...
# Jan 04 2001 at 4:19 PM Rating: Default
Are you stupid? What exactly is the purpose of Clerics in the game anyways? Isn't it to keep us alive, and god forbid, the occasional ressurection from death? If you look at the purpose of the class, along with the spells that the class gets, you might find that clerics (and their armor put them on par with every other class (caster types). Each class is supposed to be distinct and have it's own advatages / disadvantages. So what if clerics get nice effects on their armor? I mean are clerics as good at soloing as say an enchanter or mage? Possibly so, but I would venture to say that they really aren't as good at soloing. Even still, I would always want my cleric to have really good armor and effects, because if my cleric dies (in a group), my chances for dying and loosing all that hard earned exp goes up dramatically. Plus nice effects on their armor helps me out in the long run, since they will have more mana for other things, like saving my bacon.

Just my 2 cents
PS I have played a bunch of different classes. Here's a list:
Ndarain Darkheart (SK)
Qynair (ENC)
Quelina (NEC)
Jaryn (ROG)
Ndadark (RAN)
Matanushka (CLE)
Arrena (WAR)

I am GLAD that the cleric's armor and items have such nice effects. Who is the one person in the party that can "save your bacon"? Anything is good that can help THEM save YOU! Stop being so envious and start thanking Verant for making ways to prolong the battle when you cleric is OOM.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 02 2001 at 2:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I wont thank Verant for ****. I personally feel they suck at addressing the real issues and always ignore players on the individual basis yet will run circles and do tricks for the uber guilds.---but back to the subject, Clerics that have awesome quest armor, sweet !! I play a warrior so i cant go bind wound in western wastes while my cleric meds cause hes oom. I also have a shaman ( i run two accounts on two pcs) and i could complain but i have yet to see a cleric with a pet so....

#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 04 2001 at 10:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You guys are being morons and missing the entire point. Sure, I'd love the cleric in my group to have awesome armor, but what about the rest of us? Shamen and druids are at this point NOT viable healers 50+, meaning that one class (the cleric) is practically REQUIRED to fight ANYWHERE, not just on raids. And now in Velious they get armor infinitely better than either druids or shamen.

Well, the reason a cleric kunark BP has more ac is because clerics wear PLATE type armor and druids wear LEATHER type armor. And shamans get BANDED type armor.

The point is, if you wanted to have high ac you should've been a class that wears BRONZE type armor like clerics.

just a thought :)
RE: Why clerics get such nice stuff...
# Jan 05 2001 at 2:14 PM Rating: Default
LOL I agree 100% Lukile. People are complaining that clerics have the high AC and the Shammys and Druids don't, and then completly ignore the fact that Clerics wear plate armors while shamans wear banded armor and druids leather.

Remember way back in your newbie days that was the case? Well it still is the same.
RE: Why clerics get such nice stuff...
# Jan 05 2001 at 3:05 PM Rating: Default
Um, don't druids get SoW so they can run away if need be? I mean how mobile is a cleric compared to a druid? Druids are supposed to be more mobile than clerics, so how could you justify giving a "mobile" class plate armor? This is similar to the rant that rangers should get plate armor. They are more mobile than say an SK. To compensate for the lack of plate armor, they get all sorts of abilities that none of the other melee hybrids do. Plus think for a second, aren't druids supposed to be close to nature? It wouldn't seem all that natural for a druid to have metal armor.

Let's get a few things straight...

Clerics can't solo. We just can't after about level 24. The old "Root & Shoot" technique falls apart because the higher level mobs break the Root so much faster, not to mention how horrifyingly mana-inefficient our nukes are. At Level 35, I will usually run out of mana completely before getting most blue mobs down to half health! (The Ry'Gorr Mystics are usually an exception, but try pulling just one orc.)

At higher levels, it just becomes worse. (The higher level Cleric in my guild tells me about that, and I know a couple of Clerics who won't even sign on unless they check to be sure some allies are on.)

Yet, what do I hear from the Druids and Shamen? Well, the Druids tell me stories of Double and Quad kiting giants, the Shamen who solo the healers in Kithicor and giants in the Great Divide... And then they turn around and whine about how my armour provides more AC than theirs!

Waa!

At least maybe once I get a few peices of armour that will cast my heals for me I'll have a minor chance at soloing. Oh wait, can't use those effects until level 45, when the monsters are that much tougher compared to a Cleric's pathetic offense capability.

In closing, if I'm on a dangerous hunt I always want a Druid or Shaman in the party. A back-up healer who can buff/debuff/nuke/DoT is always welcome.
RE: Why clerics get such nice stuff...
# Jan 18 2001 at 5:53 PM Rating: Default
Hey Angelsyn... it gets better after level 44. Level 44 spells allow you to solo, a bit, again. At 44 you can solo Hill Giants with root/nuke technique once again (just remember to use root instead of enstill, and use the new Retribution DD) You'll love it 8)

I have a 50+ Cleric. I've read the postings above and first off let me say the complaining over gear & characters being balanced is ridiculous IMHO. You pick a character - you play it.

The comment about Clerics not being able to solo is true. We are a PRIEST class. It is soley our job to keep ourselves and our group alive. I'm not complaining about grouping - I enjoy it - but it is a fact.

I know first hand what a Shaman's capabilities are at my level and what gear they have and can get. I won't list the differences or gripe about what they have and I don't.

Norrath would be a dull place if we were all clones with the same gear and abilities.

You like the Cleric gear? Want to wear it? Make a Cleric.

More importantly last time I checked I am the one that keeps you punk shamans alive. I dont know why anyone complains about other classes armor. You think that the druid/shamn would want me to have as much wis/ac possible when we are trying to get there epics. So clerics have better quest armor then shamans does it really matter?
RE: This is why

I am a 53 shaman. I have no reason to complain about any of my gear. 200+ wis, A bracer that gives me 263 DD mana free, and a very very needed class in the game and can improve ANY group. I love my class, and thank you verant for all you have done for us shaman and much thanks to all you have done for our Clerics. Rock on Clerics!

I believe that most classes have some good kit and if u spent more time looking up stuff for your own class and not griping about others u might find some of the stuff the nice shammy told us about, and not not come over as a bitter little child who gets bullied at school.
If u also take a good look at the item in question u will see that it is not that good.Word of health does 100 ponts of healng to all in the group.Have u ever seen a cleric cast this spell? Im 53rd lvl and i can say i havent cast it,and even though its free mana i still wouldent cast it because it takes 9 seconds to cast, and if i started standing up in a fight and doing 100 points of healing instead of medding for cele heal or CH i would get disbanded out of the group and rightly so.Word of health was a crap spell at 34th lvl and by the time u can get this item its worse.Just by having a spell affect on an item does not make it good,u must also look at the lvl u need to be to get it and see if it is of use at that lvl and i think that u will find that this item aswell as nearly all the other cleric armour is redundant by the time u can get it.
Well i hope this clears up a few points and stops any further posts by the illinformed, and we can get back to using this site to help those that want this item get it.

RE: *Casting time*
# Jan 10 2001 at 1:58 PM Rating: Default
Being a cleric myself I will NEVER complain of the casting time on a group heal if it is 0 mana. And I doubt any group will complain of a free group heal to conserve the clerics mana. Think of it this way a group with full life with a clerics mana barely being dented more named mobs coming your way. Face it, without a cleric to ch cause that big named mob doubles in the 100's, you would not be doing much fighting, but lots of medding.

this is so awesome. when i first looked at it, i didnt pay attenting to the name or slot. I thought it was a BP. even if it was a BP, it would still rock, but being pants makes it all the more better. Thank you Verant for making something this great for my lil cleric!

yooo,

these legs kickass...i'm 57 cleric and letme tell you these legs have saved my groups *** so often its not funny, especially in big train situations where myself and chanters oom with many mobs still left..yes cast time is long but a good cleric can judge when and when not to use them...its all judgement..dont just dismiss these legs off hand..sure u cant use them during battle against very high lvl mobs that hit extremely hard and fast like in velious or dragons etc but for everyday camps its tremendous to be constantly fm and just keep clicking them lol..again just be aware of the situation always so u dont get caught out.

Absolutley! These legs just like every other item that has an effect to click is governed by your situation. In normal everyday exp grinding I can chain cast these, keep my group at full health, and only use my mana for buffs or for the emergency heal. Saving your groups butts at times comes down to how much mana you can conserve and properly use at a moments notice. The more mana these legs save me the better. There is no recast time. As soon as its done casting im recasting. With my finger on the duck button of course just in case. It's not every group that you are going to have c2 or KEI and a bard with you so you can throw that argument out the window.
